The field pretty much felt that the only way theyd win is if Hubert and Said took each other out. Hubert led early and the two battled back and forth in the first half of the event, living up to expectations, however a little after halfway, battling Bliss for 2nd, Hubert lost control in turn 10 and slammed the tire barriers, ending his day. This only left 1 ace of the 2 left and Said had no problems from there and went on to win by a huge margin. The hard crash of the day occurred in the esses when Terry Fisher, multiple laps down from multiple incidents, cut a tire down and then got slammed by Mike Wallace. Neither driver appeared very thrilled after the crash but Wallace said in the interview he was more upset at the track workers delay at arriving at their stricken trucks. Meanwhile on the points front, Ron Hornaday, the points leader suffered axle problems right from the get go almost and spent the majority of the afternoon repairing the truck. However those repairs paid off as he was able to gain 8 spots from where he would have finished if they had just retired for the day. 8. Wins under pressure for Jay Sauter and Boris Said. 11. Danish_Pie posted: 06.06.2020 - 3:14 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Still the only win for #44 in the series to date. Twenty-one years after this race was run, Ross Chastain seemingly became the second driver to win with the number when he took the checkered flag 1st at Iowa. However post-race inspection found the truck height to be too low in the front, and the win was stripped from him. Thus allowing this race to keep the distinction of having the only winner in trucks with the number 44. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
