Here he races a Start and Park for Jim Smith and at Pheonix he started and Parked for Duke Thorenson. Joe had a ride lined up with Jim Smith I think for Evergreen, but it fell through and he was left at 99 starts in 100 races. 4. the Great Dave posted: 08.16.2012 - 12:52 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) this race had tons of attrition but it also had a lot of hard racing. Racing you rarely saw at the Cup and GN races on this track. 5. the Great Dave posted: 08.16.2012 - 12:57 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Tim Steele's truck debut 6. the Great Dave posted: 08.16.2012 - 1:23 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) ABC was also commentating on the Indy car race the next day. So there Indy car crew was doing commentating on this race also. It's kinda odd hearing Jon Beekhus and Gerry Gerald commentating on NASCAR. 7. the Great Dave posted: 08.16.2012 - 1:23 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Sponsors: #2 Team ASE / Ultra Wheels #7 Big Brothers Big Sisters of Livingston Co #12 Team ASE / Ultra Wheels #16 Napa Auto Parts / Napa Brakes #25 Citgo Superguard #86 RC Cola / Publix 8. Undeterred, he charged back and was in the 3rd place when Sprague decided to be an idiot wrecking himself and Barfield. Major heartbreak for the #55. Small correction: Caution #1: #99 of Bliss Crashed, not the #88. 13. 1995z71 posted: 02.19.2014 - 2:05 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) Mike Stefanik was so frickin' pissed finishing second, that was just bullshit. 14. whoareu posted: 04.14.2017 - 7:38 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) stefanik wasn't pissed he was more or less excited 15. The race itself had 3 clear great trucks. Randy Tolsma appeared to be the absolute best of them all, however on lap 135, he came into the pits and spun on his way in, losing 2 laps and was never able to dig himself out of the hole. The race featured 2 grinding crashes to close out the event. The first came off turn 4 onto the lead straight where Sprague was to the outside of Ron Barfield and the 2 didnt QUITE clear each other, sending Barfield to the outside wall and Sprague reacted and shot to the inside wall, nearly careening back onto the track after hard contact from the wall. Off the subsequent restart a fantastic battle between Hornaday and Wallace ensued, however Hornaday slipped in some oil in turn 3 and turn 4, which gave Wallace the lead. Behind them Butch Miller appeared he may have slipped in the same oil and tagged Terry Cook, sending him into the outside wall. Tom Hubert, in the smoke stayed high in the track and found Cook's stricken truck right in his path, t-boning him. Meanwhile up front, Wallace had the truck to beat, Stefanik had one shot at him when they went G-W-C, but really could not mount any major charge after the restart and Wallace won the season opener, redeeming a late race crash in the season opener at Walt Disney the prior year. Stefanik had a great run as well, especially as he had suffered whip-lash injuries from an off season crash and to rebound for a top 2 finish in the season opener was thrilling for the Rhode Islander 17. djar87 posted: 03.29.2018 - 11:14 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) the 86 of Stacy Compton is a Dodge in this event. 18. In the pits, these pit crews looked like idiots out there in this race. Even the top teams. You could make an entire blooper reel of pit mistakes just from this race with things that I'd never seen happen before. From the jack man putting the jack in the wrong spot and terribly crushing the sheet metal on the 55 truck and continuing to try and lift it in the wrong spot anyway, making it worse and worse. To the rear tire changer on the 50 truck throwing the left side tire he took off right in front of the gas man as he was coming over with the 2nd fuel tank, tripping the gas man and making him fall on his face and hit the tank on the ground. The gas can engaged and started spraying fuel all over the entire crew as they were running over to help him get it in the truck. To whatever truck it was that had the crew member run out in front of the truck when the pit stop was over because he forgot to clean the grill and almost getting himself hurt or worse. That wasn't even close to all of them. 20. SweetRich21/43 posted: 07.27.2020 - 3:30 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The commentators were Marty Reid and Benny Parsons.
