Scott Riggs makes his debut driving a privateer ride he put together with funding from a lot of his friends from local short tracks. If not for a bad mid race pit stop he would have finished on the lead lap and gotten a top 10. A bizarre incident occurred for the debris caution on lap 144. The debris was actually ESPN's speed camera that had dislodged from the pavement. It actually managed to lodge itself into Kevin Harvick's truck who was leading at the time. Surprisingly this did no damage to his radiator as it had just missed it. The race was largely dominated by Dennis Setzer but 2 late race spins cost him from a win to falling outside the top 5. The first of the 2 spins didnt cause a caution and was for the lead battling Jay Sauter. Sauter scrubbed the wall and this gave Biffle the lead. This set up a great battle to close out the race between Biffle and Compton, Compton looked faster but just couldnt use the bottom of the track to pass Biffle even with an extended race with the G-W-C after Setzer and Tolsma had crashed. Compton had one last gasp to pass on the last lap. The two very well may have made contact off the turn but Biffle was able to power past with momentum and claim yet another 1999 victory 8.
