I don't like seeing some of the tracks that the Trucks series "became too big for", because most of them produced great racing. This is one of the stops that I miss seeing. 3. It was his NASCAR debut which he'd follow up with unsuccessfully attempting to race full-time in the Busch Series the next year with Bill Davis. 9. gary24fan posted: 06.10.2010 - 5:33 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Truck numbers for the DNQ's: Bow Carpenter - 37 Randy Briggs - 53 10. 83andJoe posted: 06.24.2013 - 11:47 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #16 crew chief: Steve Hmiel (same for all races following this one this year; Sandy Jones was released by the team prior to this race) 11. ch posted: 07.24.2013 - 2:05 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #29 Owner: Bob Keselowski (Teammate to the #1) 12. He competed for Chryler at the time in road racing, racing Vipers for the French Team Oreca and claiming a class win in one at the 24 Hours of Le Mans two months earlier, so I wouldn't be surprised if his Mopar connections helped make this appearance in a Dodge Ram happen. 15. Possibly why Willy T Ribbs and Bill Lester ended up in the #8 truck for a while. 16. They would have a lot of Dodge money go into them (not just the obvious sponsorship at times) as the years went on. 17. He would not ever lose track of the top 10 from there and would claim a great 5th place finish. The first half of the race was rather sloppy with lots of trucks going off including hard crashes for John Young and Jack Sprague. Young got hit on the backstraight when he was battling Lance Norick. Andy Houston thought he could get by both of them but ran out of track and hit Young sending him hard into the outside wall. Jack Sprague, not known for his road racing prowess went wide at around turn 2 or 3 and just couldnt stop and he plowed into the tires. He may have had mechanical problems to cause it. This would put him 105 points behind the blazing (at the time of this season) Greg Biffle. Indeed mechanical issues were a major problem for this event playing a major factor on Harvick, Cook, Cywinski, Norick, Hansen,Tolsma, Compton, and Beretta, among others who all had either transmission, rear end or general gear failures in the race The race was also punctuated with a number of road course ringers after the recent success of Said and Fellows. While Beretta wasnt much of a factor after he lost the higher gears and surprisingly Fellows wasnt a factor at all, the road course ringers who were doing very well up front were Tommy Archer and Boris Said. Archer would get taken out in a pair of spins but Said was battling right with the leaders all day which included Jay Sauter, Ron Hornaday, Greg Biffle and Mike Bliss. Heading into the 5 lap to go mark, Said in 2nd, whose tires were going away, made a banzai move into the final corner on track against leader Jay Sauter. The divebomb move pushed both up the track and Mike Bliss saw clear track ahead. He seized this opportunity and passed both trucks for the lead. With fresher tires he was able to keep on ahead of Said and claim his first win on a road course and first win for Jack Roush. 18. Berretta is a sports car ace, who has raced in F1. Maybe one day, Charles Leclerc will come over and race with us. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
