As Biffle would win the 2000 Truck championship, Greg won this race and had a huge point lead. But he had the same problem Mark Martin had at Richmond in 1990, they found an illegal intake manifold in Greg's truck. He was penalized 121 points and lost the championship by 11 points. Jack Sprague and Rick Hendrick got a gift with Biffle being penalized. 2. Plus, Sprague had a ridiculous penalty that year also. 5. The Real Thomas posted: 12.09.2007 - 10:34 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I don't remember, what penalty did Sprague have that season? 6. Not even Kyle Busch was able to break this record, because his personal best was 8 wins in 16 starts in 2010. 14. Bramblegrunt posted: 01.31.2018 - 3:13 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Shame the story of this race was what happened post race, the race itself was a real tooth-and-nail fight between Biffle and Sprague and it felt like, in the moment, that it may have been Sprague's last gasp to try to finally gain points on Biffle. With the post race penalty, the championship took on a whole different look. The race also featured a very gnarly looking crash for rookie contender Scott Hansen. Hansen was just fine though and missed no time for it. This race was also the final race for Ross Thompson in the truck series (as hed DNQ for 2 of the remaining races), though hed have a 1 off race 2 years later in the XFinity series 16. Bramblegrunt posted: 01.31.2018 - 3:43 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Also I cant confirm as I am not poster #4 but I am wondering if hes referring to the Nazareth race when Sprague bumped into Wallace on the last lap where the black flagged him and put him back to 14th place, costing him 10 spots. This was essentially a 54 point penalty for the black flag which is almost exactly half of what Biffle was assessed for this race. 17. Money is only down 3 or 4 spots and not anywhere the last car on the lead lap. I see the math that he lost the championship but I'm sure he still has the trophy unless he halked it for money like G. Bodine. 18. Rich posted: 09.19.2020 - 11:08 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Marty Reid and Benny Parsons were the commentators.
