Going into Lap 200, Biffle slid up the track in turn 1 (believed to have been caused by oil dropped by Ruttman's wounded DANA Corp) & although he had a pretty solid lead, Biffle had also been taking it easy the last few laps & that added margin could've helped. Sprague pounced, taking the lead off turn 2 & never looking back. Mike Wallace & Andy Houston tangled last lap, Wallace coming out in 4th & Houston smacking the turn 3 wall. Wallace contended Houston came down, Houston disagreed & made sure to make a detour before heading to the infield care center. The incident ended Houston's x37 RAF streak, the next longest @ the time being x7 b/w multiple drivers. Kurt Busch was well on his way to winning 'til a lap 180 caution for turn 4 fluid bunched the field & allowed others to pit for tires; Busch took fuel only to maintain track position. Hamilton was an early contender w/ a patched together Morgan/McClute pit crew, but lost out on pit road. Moved from 15th/5th after a lap 102 pit stop, but chose to park it rather than risk damage following a vibration development. Reffner tried a one stop pit strategy that worked until the lap 178 caution - was 1 of x11 lead lap trucks to pit. Setzer had a potentially winning truck but lapped traffic was a frustrating constant. Starr was headed for a T5 before cautions, settled for 11th; ditto Riggs, but 12th. Kenny Martin was the 5th different ROTR in the same span of races. It would turn out to be a short day for the High Plains Drifter though as Carelli's #66 Ford blew a motor, apparently in the pits under caution, and retired before this one even reached the 1/4th mark. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
