Because of this, Ron and his team had to buy the ride out from under David Starr and transferred the sponsorship to truck #7 from the 87. Great run for him though with a 3rd place finish. 12. David Starr, who had driven the #7 in earlier races during the season, was not scheduled to drive in this race. 14. He had road blocks along the way but it was quite a drive. By the end of the race he was racing quite hard and desperately to catch Biffle and Busch to the point he actually got airborne botching the chicane in the closing laps. Very uncharacteristic of Fellows to make such mistakes but time just ran out for him in this race and Biffle had too good of a truck for him to catch with the laps he had left Gibbs also experienced a rather bizarre and hard crash in the bus stop mid race. Approaching the chicane his truck suddenly veered right and piled into the armco head on. He tried to drive the truck off but an oil fire burnt under the truck forcing him out of the event 18.
