Amazing how Dennis Setzer won just one week after his frightening crash at NHIS. He's undoubtedly one of the best drivers to never win the Truck title; in my opinion, second to Joe Ruttman. 5. biffle16 posted: 01.14.2007 - 11:04 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I thought they did a great job too. As a matter of fact, I think the sport got to where it was today because of them. Also, this was the worst starting position by a Truck Series winner in 2000. 6. Joe Ruttman had easily the truck to beat and with 40 to go his lead was so substantial people were already pretty much handing him the win. But after a couple late cautions and Ruttman pitting under green and pit strategy that put Ryan McGlynn and Dokken right up with the leaders, things got much more interesting and Ruttman found himself mired in traffic. McGlynn did a great job to maintain in the top 5/top 10 but he would eventually over drive into turn 1 and others reacted badly behind him when he pancaked the wall. Busch piled into Marty Houston setting up a chain reaction crash. This set up Setzer who was biding his time all day lurking in the top 3 at this point despite a broken shoulder blade and he got passed those that were still up front from the stategy and Ruttman was unable to catch him after falling behind from his green flag pit stop 10. Dokken then held the lead for another 3 laps and fought very well against far superior drivers in far superior cars. He eventually fell to the end of the lead lap, running in 10th with just 6 to go when his rear gear packed it up. He eventually limped home 15th, 2 laps down, a far cry from scoring back-to-back top 10s after his great run in Loudon. 11.
