Reffner, the first Truck series Rookie-of-the-Year was never able to land another full-time truck series ride. Before the purchase that made it the Menards team, that team had originally been the RCR #3 Goodwrench truck team. With thier closure, this marks the final appearence of a truck #3 in the series. When Mike Skinner moved to Bill Davis Racing there was a request for the #3 made but NASCAR rejected it. NASCAR needs to quit bemoaning Dale's death and finally let life move on with some new, maybe even non-RCR, #3 teams in all of its major series. 5. I believe it was originally BANG Racing that was co-owned by Larry McReynolds and Alex Meshkin that asked to use the #3 but were denied so they chose #42 and used it till Meshkin chose to fold th 42 and keep Kvapil sending Skinner and crew to BDR. 6. most posted: 05.16.2008 - 5:53 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Yeah, I agree that they should move on and let someone run the #3 in trucks and Nationwide. Skinner won out in that deal BTW! 7. Of course, if any driver but Junior drove it in cup, they would be booed off the track. It's a no win. All I know is I think the majority of fans are dying to see that number 3 again. Thoughts? 9. Other drivers like Ricky Rudd, Dick Rathmann, Buck Baker, Buddy Baker, Junior Johnson, Earl Balmer and Chargin' Charlie Glotzbach all won in Cup with it. Steve Park and Dale Jr won Busch titles while Ron Hornaday did decent with it there. In the Trucks Mike Skinner, Bryan Reffner and Jay Sauter all had success in the #3 (Skinner was a champion). While Dale is identified with it he was hardly the only one to use it and it's time to move on 10. They did this by dubbing their car the "Big White Truck" and putting the nickname on the hood and quarter panels in a huge font, as well as putting a "Kilroy" face on the bed of the truck peeking over each side. It worked, at least for one race, but the team went on hiatus near the end of the summer still without a fulltime sponsor and Tolsma moved over to the Rensi Busch effort instead to finish out 2001. Eight drivers spent time behind the wall or dropped out of the race with gear problems, narrowly edging Michael Dokken as the largest bringer of chaos on the afternoon. On a lap 94 restart, Dokken restarted as the first car on the inside line of lapped cars but apparently broke a gear when he made his first upshift. Recognizing the problem, Dokken slammed on the brakes and made a sharp turn towards the inside wall to get out of the way. There was one problem, though - he should have turned towards the inside wall before slamming on the brakes. Instead, he came to a complete stop before the start-finish line, barely half a lane out of the way of the inside line of trucks. Predictably, the field stacked up behind him in spectacular fashion and seven total trucks were collected in the crash. 16. possum posted: 08.23.2020 - 11:46 am Rate this comment: (2) (0) @15 - they were a year or so too late with that idea. Volvo, who owned the White Truck brand, had dropped the name from their product line by 2001. Otherwise Rensi might have been able to get a few sponsorship dollars (of course, they might also have gotten a trademark suit - you never know how a big corporation might see things). 17.
