Z posted: 09.04.2020 - 4:34 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Breakdown: AFA Winning drivers, this race set up to come down to Musgrave or Pressley regardless. It actually came down to a lapped truck, as the #39 ran 3/4 up the track & left Pressley (what he thought) was no room to pass high, the preferred line. Musgrave proceeded to shoot the gap, and got it in the wall doing so, but bounced right back off & used the high line momentum to carry the pass. A gutsy move that was either gonna work or end Musgrave's day completely, it ended w/ Musgrave in victory lane. Of other notables, Cook & Setzer had likely T5 trucks but battled w/ pit road issues. Both had 15sec penalties they had to come back from (Setzer's coming at the end of the race), while Cook also ran tight in the early going after a misadjustment caused the crew to tighten an already tight truck. What ended Cook's day, however, is the higher gear they ran compared to the field. Pressley also had an early gaffe, as his 1st stop was 34.9sec after both a jack issue & a lugnut issue. Leffler was also a T5 truck, though he didn't appear to have anything on Musgrave & would've likely slotted in 3rd (where he was running when he exited the race). Leffler declined an interview, so IDK if his hitting the wall caused the issue or if the issue caused the wall. Leffler was reported w/ high temps about 40 laps prior, for what it's worth. Gaughan had a fringe T10 (was 10th shortly before) go away after an unspecified issue in the late running caused him to slow on track & hit pit road - likely a tire down. Shepherd, the earliest exit of the names listed, would've likely finished around 15th-20th had he ran the full race (like @Richmond later in the year) & was 17th when he pulled it in for the day. Lastly, Bill Lester might've not had the most illustrious Truck career, but I'd like to point out this one wasn't on him. Lester was entering T1 high when Price came flying in low & smashed into Lester's LR - just wrong place, wrong time. -FR w/ Diamond Cut Jeans as Sponsor- -2nd of x3 races C-Contreras led laps- Darlington Runners: Musgrave (01/04), Crawford (01/04), Starr (X01), Kvapil (X10), Schrader (of Orig, X03), Setzer (X11), Crafton, Gaughan (ran F/S runnings), Lester (of Orig, X01), Cook (01/04), Shepherd (of Orig, X04) BF: Ted Musgrave (tied) -29th of x192 starts- Kevin Harvick (DAR; FR '02, 2R w/ KHI) -71st of x123 starts- David Starr (@DAR/FR@) -49th of x317 starts- Brian Rose (@DAR/FR@) -17th of x41 starts- Jon Wood (@DAR/FR@) -18th of x119 starts- Dennis Setzer (@DAR) -97th of x314 starts- Bobby Dotter (@DAR, 2&2LR@) -37th of x73 starts- Lance Norick (@DAR, 2&LR@) -134th of x154 starts- Lance Hooper (@DAR, 2&2LR@; 2R w/ Ware) -33rd of x80 starts- Carlos Contreras (@DAR, 2&2LR@) -50th of x75 starts- Wayne Edwards ('02/FR '02; OR @DAR, FR w/ Bonifield) -16th of x78 starts- Tom Powers (@DAR/, 2&LR@) -19th of x27 starts- 2BF: Rick Crawford (@DAR) -128th of x336 starts- Michael Dokken ('02/FR '02; OR @DAR) -61st of x74 starts- Ryan McGlynn ('02/FR '02; OR @DAR) -37th of x44 starts- FR: Ken Schrader ('02; 2BF '02/@DAR-Tied) -28th of x105 starts- Trent Owens ('02, w/ Ballew; OR @DAR, 2BF-Tied Car) Jerry Hill ('02, w/ Smith; BF/2&LR @DAR) -14th of x58 starts- Randy MacDonald (@DAR/BF@) -47th of x94 starts- Brendan Gaughan (@DAR/2WF@) -19th of x217 starts- Jason Small (@DAR/BF@-Tied) -9th of x36 starts- Jonathon Price ('02/WF '02; OR @DAR, 2LR w/Ware, 2WF-Tied Car) -9th of x13 starts- 2R: Robert Pressley (FR/BF @DAR; 2BF-Tied Car) Travis Kvapil (@DAR) -26th of x197 starts- Loni Richardson (w/ Sonntag; FR '02, OR @DAR, WF-Tied Car) -5th of x19 starts- OR: Mike Bliss (@DAR) -124th of x206 starts- Steve Portenga (@DAR) -29th of x48 starts- 2LR: Larry Gunselman (w/ Mottler; WF '02, BF/2&LR @ DAR) - 23rd of x28 starts- WF: Matt Crafton (@DAR) -27th career starts- Coy Gibbs (@DAR/2&LR@) -38th of x58 starts- Bill Lester (@DAR/FR@) -8th of x142 starts- Terry Cook ('02/@DAR) -120th of x314 starts- Jason Leffler ('02/@DAR; FR @DAR) JD Gibbs (@DAR, 2WF-Tied Car) Morgan Shepherd (@DAR; FR '02) -21st of x57 starts- Joe Ruttman (@DAR/Car-Tied; 2&LR @DAR, OR w/ FDNY) -166th of x172 starts- FDNQ: Ricky Sanders ('02), Phil Bonifield ('02) 2DNQ: Mike Swaim Jr (&LATT), Mike Harmon (OATT '02) 2LDNQ: Rodney Sawyers (FATT '02) LDNQ: Ron Barfield Jr (&LATT) 9.
