The 9th Truck race @TX would see its 9th different winner, & if Gaughan had his way, Trucks would've only come here - x4 of Gaughan's x6 Wins came @TX, all coming in a x2yr sweep. @TX's early races tended to have a milestone attached: Irwin's 2&L win, Raines' 2L win, Sauter's last win, Setzer's 2nd win, Reffner's only win, Sprague's 1st of x4 during a '01 Championship, & Travis Kvapil's 1st win all took place before this one. Drivers, All Races @TX TTP: Rick Crawford, Lance Norick, Terry Cook Eventual '02 Champion Mike Bliss entered this race runner-up to hot-runner David Starr, who remained the last driver TTP w/ T10s in every race (Starr would reach x9 races). & While Bliss got some points in for his leading stint, he had a race to forget as he brought out a caution & finished 12th, his 2nd bad week in a row after winning Pikes Peak (IK, a 5th being "bad" - but Bliss struggled all day for that hard fought 5th & wasn't too happy about it) Another driver w/ a week to forget was rookie Jason Small, who DNFd in the late going in a sign of things to come - all x6 DNFs of Small's season would come consecutively starting w/ this race. Lastly, this was Randy MacDonald's 1st race back @TX since sitting out the '01 season after Daytona on account of spinal stenosis surgery. -52nd of x94 Starts, Randy MacDonald- -102nd of x314 Starts, Dennis Setzer- -133rd of x336 Starts, Rick Crawford- BF: Brendan Gaughan (tied; FT5 '02, 2R @TX) -24th of x217 Starts- David Starr (@TX-tied/FT10@; 2BF'02 tied) -54th of x317 Starts- Matt Crafton ('02, 2T10 '02; FT10 @TX) -32nd Career Start- Bill Lester ('02, @TX-tied/FR@) -13th of x142 Starts- Stan Boyd ('02, @TX-tied; OT20 '02, 2R w/ Liguori '02) -26th of x47 Starts- Tom Powers (@TX/LR@; 2BF '02) -24th of x27 Starts- 2BF: Travis Kvapil (tied; 2T5 '02) -31st Career Start- Lance Hooper ('02, w/ Ware; BF-tied @TX, LT15-Car) -38th of x80 Starts- FT5: Ted Musgrave (@TX) -34th of x192 Starts- LT20: Carlos Contreras (@TX) -56th of x75 Starts- 2NT5: Mike Bliss ('02) -129th of x206 Starts- 2NT10: Terry Cook ('02) -125th of x314 Starts- WF: Donnie Neuenberger ('02/2&2LR '02) -10th of x25 Starts- Phil Bonifield (@TX; 2WF-tied '02, 2R Own-Drv) -38th of x70 Starts- Brian Rose (@TX/2R@, w/ BHR, '02/Car-tied) -22nd of x41 Starts- FR: Robert Pressley (@TX/BF@) -7th of x69 Starts- Jason White (@TX, '02/BF '02; OR w/ Richardson) -8th of x156 Starts- Jason Small (@TX/2BF@) -14th of x36 Starts- Jason Leffler (@TX/WF@-tied; 2NT25 '02) -8th of x56 Starts- Steve Portenga (@TX/WF@) -33rd of x48 Starts- Frog Hall ('02/2BF-tied '02; 2&2LR @TX/WF@) 2R: Jon Wood (@TX/FT10@) -23rd of x119 Starts- Aaron Daniel ('02/OT20 '02; FR w/ Chick, @TX/BF@-tied) Jerry Hill (@TX/2WF@-tied) -19th of x58 starts- Morgan Shepherd (@TX/2WF@) -26th of x57 Starts- Randy Briggs ('02, w/ Troxell, @TX/WF@; 2WF-Car, FNT30) -5th of x25 Starts- Wayne Edwards ('02, @TX; 2WF '02, OR w/ Portenga) -17th of x78 Starts- 2LR: Coy Gibbs (@TX/2WF@) -43rd of x58 Starts- Lance Norick (@TX/2BF@, LT10@) -139th of x154 Starts- Bobby Dotter (@TX/2BF@) -42nd of x73 Starts- Michael Ritch (OR @TX, 2BF '02) LR: Trent Owens (WF @TX) 5.
