Skinner and Hamilton race for the lead off the last turn they bump,
Skinner slides sideways in the grass to 2nd place.

At the end, when Hamilton spun Skinner, everyone but the guy right next
to me went wild. (The guy right next to me was a Skinner fan). That was
one helluva finish.

There was also an awful wreck on the backstretch with Gordon, Parker Jr.
and Crawford. Crawford broke his foot and I think the other two
sustained injuries as well.

Tina Gordon suffered broken ribs and parker jr. got various other
injuries. I think Parker got it the worst.

The first race for the Truck Series at Atlanta...why didn't they think
of this sooner?!?!

Toyota wins its first pole thanks to rookie David Reutimann and almost
wins the race with Mike Skinner. Bobby Hamilton ran Skinner down and had
the outside coming out of turn 4. Skinner got loose and they touched
coming to the line, Skinner spun taking the checkers sideways and the
house was rockin'.

The wreck on the backstretch between Tina Gordon, Hank Parker, Jr. and
Rick Crawford was pretty bad. I think all three drivers were banged-up
afterwards. Crawford's throttle actually hung after the first hit on the
backstretch and finally came to rest on the frontstretch spinning to a
hault after hitting the wall a few more times. I think Crawford was also
knocked out during this whole ordeal.

I guess Tina Gordon (no relation to Jeff or Robby) got loose comming out
of the pits and came on the track really slow with trucks going 200 MPH!
It was not too bright of a move by Gordon.

I miss Bobby Hamilton! He was so good in the truck series. RIP!

I was there in turn 4. I have some footage from our camcorder i need to
dig up eventually. My dad was filming the last lap and someone bumped
into the camera and it misses most of the action from turn 4 to the
finish line.

that was an epic race. The crawford gordon crash was one of those
crashes that really sickened me a bit. Funny how Volvo was Speed
channels sponsor for the last laps

This was before Duke Thorson realized that he had fast trucks, and he
would hire AWFUL drivers to drive that #13. Tina Gordon, Kerry
Earnhardt, Willie Allen, etc.

Tina Gordon should've been banned for life after this race. She loses
control and then yanks the truck to the right in front of traffic and
then nearly stops in the middle of the backstretch.

After 29 top tens, Matt Crafton finally scores his first top five
finish. He'd never really been close very often before this, with just
three of those 29 finishes being 6th place runs. While not an
implausible scenario for a driver of decades past, when the gaps between
finishing positions were multiple laps rather than multiple seconds,
it's definitely an unusual circumstance for the 21st century.

Mike Skinner's runner-up finish remains the co-best in series history
for the #42. It would later be tied by Kyle Larson in 2014 at Homestead.
