David Reutimann and Bill Lester wrecked extremely hard coming off of
turn 4 in this race, both avoided serious injuries in a wreck that would
have been much worse if not for the SAFER Barriers.

Even with the soft walls, had either driver *not* been wearing a head
and neck restraint I fret to think of the result of that impact. What an
amazing hit.

Reutimann's especially was so eerily similar to the near unsurvivable
hit that Ricky Craven took in the trioval in Fort Worth in '97 or even
the fatal Tony Roper crash here in '00.

The red flag messed up Carl Edwards, who following the day race in Texas
flew to Charlotte for the Cup race that night. Because of the delay, he
didn't arrive in time and Dave Blaney started the car.
