Bill Lester DNQ's after a crash in qualifying.

Jack Sprague spun early in this race, didn't hit anything and his truck
wasn't damaged, then blew a tire trying to get onto pit road, causing
the bed of his truck to pop off.

Kyle Busch wins a backup truck painted as a tribute to Days of Thunder.

First time in 102 races that Bill Lester did not race and for the second
straight year Kyle Busch owns the field at Charlotte.

Kyle "Rowdy" Busch won this. To explain the comment made earlier, when
Busch found out that he was going to be driving truck #51, he wanted it
pained up like Rowdy Burns #51 Exxon car from Days of Thunder. He was
then called Rowdy Busch for the rest of the weekend.

Nick Tucker, who failed to qualify Bob Brevak's #31 Dodge, spun in Turn
4 (near the spot where Bill Lester lost control) and the REAR SPOILER
clipped SPEED Channel's camera that was mounted on the wall! The glass
from the camera shattered and was scattered all over that spot of the
track, causing a delay in qualifying.

This race was the origin of Kyle's "Rowdy" nickname which has caught on
in the year's sense.

Part of the reason for the Rowdy Burns paint job was Kyle wanting to pay
tribute to the then-ailing Bobby Hamilton, who of course broke into the
Cup series driving the #51 Chevy for "Days of Thunder" in several races

Erin Crocker qualifies a career best 2nd place for this race. In no
other race would she even qualify in the top 10.

Who qualified the #15 truck? It wasn't Kyle Krisiloff...

The #15 truck actually was qualified by Kyle Krisiloff, numbah10hatah.
The true reason that Krisiloff went to the back before the start of the
race was for an unapproved impound adjustment. Because the #15 team had
to repair the truck during impound, Krisiloff would start from the rear
of the field.

Whenever I hear Kyle Busch referred to as "Rowdy", I think of his truck
in this race... as far as I know, this was the first time people started
calling him that.

The commentators were Rick Allen, Phil Parsons and Michael Waltrip. The
pit road reporters were Ray Dunlap and Krista Voda.
