June 17, 2006 will definitely be one of my favorite days in NASCAR
racing. First, Johnny Benson wins after a long drought, then David
Gilliland wins in the Busch race!

JB completes the winning in all 3 series deal. I was happy to see him
win,he's my favorite driver in the Truck Series.

This was my frist nascar race I ever went to I baked in the sun way atop
coming out of turn 4..

This was the firswt major NASCAR race I ever attended and being that I
was a huge Mark Martin fan at the time this was really fun to watch
including watching him run great and almost win. I remember it was a
scorcher weather-wise, even in the shade under the grandstand, and once
qualifying was over it was painfully long wait in the heat for the race
itself. Well worth it though, not a Toyota fan but getting to see
Michigan's own Johnny Benson get his first Truck win made up for that.

This was also the second and to date last appearence by Martin Truex,
Jr. in the Busch series, running for Billy Ballew but crashing out in
the closing laps to set up a green-white-checker. Not a good day for
Ballew with both his trucks in the bottom-5.

The commentators were Rick Allen, Michael and Darrell Waltrip. The pit
road reporters were Ray Dunlap and Krista Voda.

Johnny Benson is the only Michigan-born driver to win Michigan in the
Trucks so far. Brad Keselowski is the only one in XFinity, it has never
happened in Cup.
