Sprague and Benson both passed Kvapil in the tri-oval coming to the checkers. Finish very similar to the 2003 Truck race at Daytona. Good finishes for Joey Clanton (career best), Bill Lester, and Chad McCumbee. 2. Jack Sprat and the Toyota Mafia win again. It won't be long before they monopolize the Cup and Busch series too. Just remember, it took 2 ricemobiles to beat the power of one Ford in this race. 5. Darrell posted: 02.21.2007 - 6:23 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I think the 16 team is now a satellite of Wood Brothers/JTG Racing, as they're running some of their drivers and have switched to Ford. Hopefully they'll gain the money to be independent again. Tyler Walker returned to the sport in this race, and I hope he shines. He was promising the races he drove the 38 in 2005. 10. Thomas posted: 02.21.2007 - 6:46 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) They're not American, and I was the one who called them ricemobiles. It doesn't matter where the vehicle is built. The Toyota was conceived in Japan, not America. They build a lot of Fords in Mexico. Does that make Ford a Mexican car? I don't think so. Besides, the engines and transmissions of most Toyota trucks on the road are, in fact, built in Japan. It's the trucks themselves that are assembled in America. 11. yourself posted: 02.23.2007 - 9:40 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) But why does it matter where they are built?! You just like to bitch and moan about every little thing you can, that's what you do every time you comment. Except for when you're praising the precious Roush(-Fenway!) Racing, of course. 12. Steve posted: 02.24.2007 - 6:08 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) I personally don't care that Toyota are a Japanese manufacturer, I'd just like to see more parity. I think some of the people who hate Toyota's entry into NASCAR are still bitter about World War II. Japan signed a peace treaty with us more than 60 years ago; the war is over! And besides, the people who work at Toyota did not bomb Pearl Harbor! I hope Toyota can suceed, yet not monopolize the sport. Tim Sauter actually made 3 Truck starts in 2003; this is not his debut. 13. Thomas posted: 02.24.2007 - 8:59 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) That's the problem, Toyota is trying to monopolize the sport. They have already taken over the truck series and the Busch Series isn't that far off. 14. Thomas posted: 03.01.2007 - 7:24 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Isn't part of the purpose of this site to bitch and moan about racing. And how could a fan not care where the vehicles are built? 15. Steve.M. posted: 05.07.2007 - 9:56 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) OMG a Toyota won they are gonna take over nascar and thats all Japan is gonna need to take over America. god i dont know why people take car makes so damn seriously, like all, its like all the people who hate fords but love chevys, only about 10X more stpuid. I say if Toyota can win plenty of races more power to them. 16. JC posted: 06.23.2007 - 4:10 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Well, most of them are built in North Carolina....... 17. Aaron posted: 01.21.2010 - 9:47 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) It's funny how in this race coming to the finish line on the last lap Johnny Benson passed a truck while below the yellow line and he doesn't get penalized. In the 2008 Amp Energy 500 at Talladega, on the last lap coming through the tri-oval, Tony Stewart forces Regan Smith below the yellow line and Regan passes Tony to win the race. But they penalized Regan and give the win to Tony Stewart. So they penalize Regan Smith and not Johnny Benson who clearly below the yellow line to pass a truck. 23. I guess it just shows NASCARS bias towards its elites and veterans such as Stewart as apposed to its up and comers such a Smith. 24. awesomegordonfan posted: 09.30.2010 - 6:12 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "I think some of the people who hate Toyota's entry into NASCAR are still bitter about World War II. While they admitted the finish was good for television, most wondered why NASCAR allowed Johnny Benson to drive below the yellow line ? Daytona's out of bounds line ? to jump from third to second in the final 200 yards. Benson wasn't penalized because ?if you can see the checkered flag on the last lap, anything goes,? according to NASCAR spokesman Owen Kearns. -Well, that's a first that I've ever heard this. Let's hope this year's races at Daytona results are determined by the order the drivers come across the finish line and NOT changed by a few people up in race control booth. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
