NASCAR should get the Fike out! 8. The Real Thomas posted: 07.11.2007 - 6:28 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Me too. He really sucks. 9. What a great example to set for children who should be able to look up to these drivers. Question: the reason Aaron Fike was hired to drive this truck this year was because he was bringing a sponsor. Where's the sponsorship? 12. Darrell posted: 07.17.2007 - 5:07 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I believe the sponsor was RFMS, which was his old sprint car team. 13. SK posted: 07.22.2007 - 5:23 am Rate this comment: (2) (0) But apart from the Fike controversy, this race will always stand out for how Brad Keselowski bested the field up until the very end. Three years ago, Brad earned his first shot at NASCAR competition after Terry Cook had left the fading team owned by the Keselowski family. He held his own at times, but his struggles briefly cost him his job when Deborah Renshaw was picked up midway through 2004, and shortly after completing the full 2005 schedule the sponsorless #29 was mothballed. A handful of gigs in what was essentially field-filler equipment ensued, until the night when he lived every small-time racer's dream and found himself leading the charge in top-notch NASCAR equipment. Who knows what the future will bring? Perhaps, ruminations on the part of fans everywhere on who might have won all those Nextel Cups had Ted Musgrave been a little less pissed with Kelly Bires one night in Milwaukee... 14. He will run the full Busch Series schedule for Hendrick/JR Motorsports (Their teams will combine next year) in 2008. As for Aaron Fike, according to Jayski, he quit drugs, went through rehab, got off with probation, and is now teaching troubled teens to stay drug-free. 18. Matt posted: 04.08.2008 - 9:39 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) According to his own admission, Fike had shot up earlier in the day of this race. http://sports.espn.go.com/rpm/nascar/truck/news/story?id=3336865 19. His future looks bright. WTG, Brad! 21. RaceFanX posted: 02.28.2009 - 8:40 am Rate this comment: (3) (0) This race was defintely Brad Keslowski's coming out party. It really launched his career. Aaron Fike pulls a rare feat, scoring his best career finish in his final race. His 5th here was his only top-5. Oh well, drugs will destroy everything. Don't drop the soap. 22. SK | 07.22.07 - 5:23 am " You nailed it!! It is less than 2 years after this race, and Brad has a Cup Series win, 2 Nationwide wins, and is a constant contender no matter what he drives. And this will be looked back upon as the night that was all launched. This is what making the best of your opportunites is all about. One other thing: I don't want this to come off the wrong way. Drugs are an absolute life killer. Not only do they affect your life, but the lives of those who care about you. It is incredibly stupid and irresponsible to take drugs. BUT....... To shoot up heroin then go out a few hours later and finish in the Top 5 is pretty dadgum impressive. Again, I don't condone it in any way, shape, or form. He could have really harmed someone else out there. But it is incredible. 23. Jacob posted: 06.10.2011 - 9:48 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) Ah yes, the day Kvapil bitched out on BKez. 24. Who ever knows what would have became of Brad Keselowski had he not got the oppurtunity to fill in for Musgrave. The sport would look rather different indeed without this race Also, how Aaron Fike managed to get a top 5 while off his face on heroin I will never know ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
