He sounded like he wasn't taking himself so seriously when the announcers in the booth radio'd Busch, which is a refreshing change from his usual "I'm the best, to hell with you all" attitude he normally has. 2. "Jim" Johnson was running great in his CTS debut, and had a highlight reel crash was he saved it a few times but eventually spun out, collecting Ken Schrader. Erik Darnell must have wrecked 3 or 4 times, and was about 3 laps down and somehow got back up there. Great runs for SCOTT SPEED (the next big thing in Nascar), Crawford, TJ Bell, Stremme, McCumbee, and Donny Lia. And basically everyone else who survived. 4. But nobody had nothing for the Shrub. Also, though Johnny Benson couldn't win his fourth straight race. He had a huge points night as his closest contenders, Ron Hornaday and Matt Crafton, had crashes. Also, the SPEED commentators annoyed the hell out of me by saying "Jim" Johnson all the time. It was just stupid, but I'm also annoyed anytime Michael Waltrip opens his trap. 6. He led 29 laps before being taken out in a crash. 7. My favorite part: Michael Waltrip saying "Jimmie Johnson won 4 in a row last year??" Yes Mikey, he did in 4 races what you have done in 700 races. 10. I couldn't stand Michael in the booth last night either. 11. Of course it's a surprise to him that Jimmie won four in a row. The reason I watch the truck series is to GET AWAY from guys like Busch and Waltrip. Now one's in the race and the other is announcing it. 12. Here's how the points would have looked after this race with the Chase format applied: 1 Johnny Benson 5205 2 Todd Bodine 5180 3 Rick Crawford 5155 4 Dennis Setzer 5152 5 Mike Skinner 5146 6 Chad McCumbee 5130 7 Erik Darnell 5128 8 Ron Hornaday 5121 9 Jack Sprague 5121 10 Matt Crafton 5110 11 Terry Cook 5094 12 David Starr 5076 This is just for fun, I calculated the points myself with nothing better to do with my spare time. Just thought I would do this to answer the "What if the NCTS used the Chase Format in 2008" question for anyone else who had wondered that also. 13.
