Luckily they have had a humble gracious attitude about it (a certain Pee Wee Herman look alike could learn a lot from them). I congratulate them on making history and looking damn good while doing it. Somebody needs to take a look at Brian Scott. I think he might be the real deal. Timothy Peters is looking good too. You can imagine my delight when I realized there were TWO Waltrips in the booth (I tuned in at about Lap 20). Much like the Cup guys who flew to Iowa, it was smart for Mikey to fly to Nashville just to provide commentary. It's not like he's running 30th every week in his fully funded ride while his less experienced teammates are fighting for a cha$e spot. Quote of the night: When Darrell was talking about all the old guys in sports doing so well Mikey says something like "I'm not going to say anything cause I'm old and not doing so well." Don't worry Mikey. If it's any consolation you didn't do any good even when you were younger. 2. dUDE gUY posted: 08.02.2009 - 12:47 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I'm not a huge fan of Ron Hornaday, but watching him win his fifth race in a row was awesome. Previous best for consecutive wins was three in a row. Considering the next race is Bristol, and that Hornaday is superb on short tracks, he has a good shot of making it six in a row. Wow. Also of note, the top four qualifiers all finished in the top four, but in the reverse order! You don't see that too often! 3. b4il3y posted: 08.02.2009 - 2:25 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Don't tell Hornaday he's 51. :) 4. Um, dude, CHEVROLET CUT ALL FUNDING OF THE TRUCKS AND BUSCH AND MOST OF CUP!!! Ron is driving a Chevrolet. He does have sponsors. Know why? Cause he kicks ass and gets their logo in victory lane. One other thing I'd like to say about this race. It rained for about the second half of it, yet they kept racing. That is what they should have done at Loudon, a smaller track, in the Cup Series, but NASCAR wanted their official Home Improvement Warehouse to win the race. As long as the track is dry to begin with and it isn't a downpour, they can keep racing because the cars keep the track dry. That's what they did at Martinsville last year and that is what they did here. 7. Kit posted: 08.02.2009 - 4:34 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) So are we going to get the latest truck results soon? I keep seeing the past couple of weeks results with Ron Hornaday's name on the top over and over again. "Don't worry Mikey. If it's any consolation you didn't do any good even when you were younger." Haha 8. Dodge posted: 08.02.2009 - 5:26 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) Man, it sure is easy to win, when all the competition loses funding or is forced out Exactly what I was thinking too. No like you are winning while having GREAT competition. 9. Bronco posted: 08.02.2009 - 6:56 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) "Somebody needs to take a look at Brian Scott. Nice to see he isn't being forced down our throats like last year with Stale Bread. I love the Waltrip brothers as broadcasters, especially DW. I don't like his mancrushes on Dale Jr, Carl, Jeff Gordon or Shrub but he provides the best insight and commentary by far, along with plenty of humor. Mikey is funny just for the way he talks. I don't think Ron will again at Bristol, since Shrub will be there. 10. Anonymous posted: 08.02.2009 - 8:26 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) Oh look at the whiners. Hornaday won twice in 2006 with no sponsor or full-time crew chief. Where is the whining about how easy Bodine and Benson had it that year? This race was actually ran for a while in the rain. The Cup officials would of had it red flagged but trucks stayed under green. 11. hyperacti posted: 08.02.2009 - 11:23 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Blake Feese makes his return to the top levels of Nascar and finishes 12th 12. Johnny Benson Jr. is out of the series for the time being and Musgrave is AWOL. The rest of the drivers seem to be playing musical chairs as far as how they finish the race. "Mikey is funny just for the way he talks." I'm not watching the race to hear how someone talks funny. 13. That's because the Trucks are last aspect of true racing left in NASCAR. The Cup Series has become nothing more than a cross between a Hollywood reality show production and a political convention. That race they red flagged at Loudon because of rain? It was so the Home Depot car could win. The Home Depot gives millions to NASCAR as their official sponsor. Just like companies that lobby politicians (and by "lobby" I mean "give them millions of dollars"). All that's missing are the oil execs and Eva Longoria jumping around in the flag stand. Oh wait. 14. He screwed himself by leaving Bill Davis. Musgrave was declining and not getting the best out of his equipment as evidenced by what Keselowski did in his truck a couple years ago. 15. Red Horse Racing has a liar running it since they agreed that they would run the team without sponsorship if it came down to it. 17. "Red Horse Racing has a liar running it since they agreed that they would run the team without sponsorship if it came down to it." Maybe he really wanted to but in the end, it wasn't possible for him to. That doesn't make him a liar. 18. And it had nothing to do with his championship driver jumping ship and taking his crew chief with him. 19. Look, when it comes to the business side of racing, Bill Davis might be the worst owner in a long time. He has a long list of blunders. From losing Jeff Gordon due to a flimsy contract, to losing Bobby Labonte who would go on to win a championship, to screwing over Ward Burton who had turned down better rides in the past out of loyalty to Bill, it just goes on and on. The worst was his decision to help Toyota out while he was getting manufacturer support from Dodge for his Cup teams. This was in 2003, and everyone knew Toyota wouldn't be in Cup until, at the earliest 2006 (it ended up being 2007) yet he still risked his status with Dodge. Of course they terminated their support. So he had to go 3 and 1/2 years with no manufacturer support and it completely crippled his Cup teams. By the time Toyota hit the scene, they were so far behind it was pathetic. Plus his trucking company recently went belly up, so there were a ton of unknowns over there plus a long track record of blunders. Yeah, it didn't work out at Red Horse, but I think it wouldn't have at BDR either. 20. CFob posted: 08.19.2009 - 12:30 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Yeah, it's all Johnny Benson's fault he saw the writing on the wall and got away from Bill Davis. Also, to the person who crapped on the competition Bodine and Benson had during their championship years: I believe it was Benson who was Bodine's competition and Hornaday was Benson's competition. So, either you're saying Ron Horndaday was no competition, or you didn't research to well before you started typing and made yourself look dumb. Let us also not forget, Benson was improving in the Red Horse ride every week. He had 3 top fives and 4 top tens in just eight starts. That is definitely doing nothing. Now, excuse me while I go roll my eyes. I wasn't crapping on Hornaday's accomplishment, five wins in a row is a big deal. But would he have done the same thing had Johnny Benson still been in a fully funded ride? If Todd Bodine still had more solid backing? If Ted Musgrave still had a ride? If Mike Skinner was still in a ride more capable of winning? Now, tell me who Hornaday's competition is this year? No one. He is outclassing the field simply because he has no one capable of competing with him. And I think that is sad, seeing as how close the Truck Series was just one year ago. 21. Kit posted: 08.19.2009 - 2:14 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) CFob, good post. If there is one man benefitting from the '09 recession, it is Ron Hornaday. 22. Anonymous posted: 08.20.2009 - 12:04 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Learn how to read. I was talking exclusively about 2006 when Hornaday not only had no funding, but no crew chief either. Not to mention Toyota could not be touched unless a Cup driver came in and beat them. Ron was the only Chevrolet in the top 10 in points. "If Ted Musgrave still had a ride?" Already answered that. "If Todd Bodine still had more solid backing?" Bodine hasn't been capable of keeping his truck out of the wall this year. What would solid backing do? "If Mike Skinner was still in a ride more capable of winning?" Like last year, when he won exactly as many races as he has this year? "He had 3 top fives and 4 top tens in just eight starts. That is definitely doing nothing." He wasn't challenging Hornaday. That was the obvious point I was making. Yeah he would probably be winning with Davis, but Skinner won 7 races in 2007 with Davis and one in 2008 so who knows. It's all hypothetical junk. 23.
