Skinner didn't have much competition, leading 180 of 200 laps en route to his win. Despite the lack of lead changes, there was a lot of action on the track at any given moment behind first place. T.J. Bell had a great run in the top 5 going before fading at the end, and Aric Almirola earns his best career Truck series finish after taking only two tires on the last round of pit stops. All in all a great race to watch. Looking forward to the 2010 Truck race at Iowa. 2. 18fan posted: 09.06.2009 - 12:49 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Sad to see Dennis Setzer miss a race because of lack of sponsorship. He is one of the best all-time in the truck series and nobody will sponsor him. Ron Hornaday's consecutive top 10 starts streak ended. Austin Dillon's series debut and first NCWTS start for RCR since 1999. Lumber Liquidators returned to the 30 truck for the first time since Homestead. 3. His 27th career win puts him one behind Jack Sprague for second in career wins. First Truck Series start for Camping World West regular Jamie Dick. Third time this season that Ron Hornaday failed to lead a lap. 4. This is what a racetrack should be. Not these crappy cookie cutters like Texas, Vegas, Chicago, and Kansas. Even in a rout, it was fun to watch. It was cool to see the #3 car out there being run by Richard's grandson. I know he spun out, but hopefully he'll do good things with it. 5. Its fine for the truck series since Dale never RACED a truck, although when Skinner announced 6 years ago he was going back to the truck Series with Bang Racing, they wanted to use the 3 because Mike was known as the driver of the 3 Truck. I had no problem with Skinner racing it then. In the other two series, Nationwide and Cup, Dillon has no business driving the three. As the late Bobby Hamilton said "Kevin couldn't be a pimple on Dale Earnhardt's A**, same with Dillon." 7. Skinner is now just one win away from tying Jack Sprague for 2nd in the all time truck wins list. When was the last time the #3 was used in any NASCAR event? I'm thinking the 2002 season opener for the Busch series at Daytona, which Dale Jr won. 8. I did, and I'm glad they changed their mind. That was proof that nerd who owned the team had no clue what he was doing when it came to NASCAR. I don't mind this cause it is Richard's grandson, even though he hasn't done much. I think they are pushing him too fast. His Dad said he wanted Austin to race a few Truck races because they drive like Cup cars. Whoa There!!! Let him at least run a few Truck or Nationwide races with the car pointing straight the whole time before discussing Cup. That shouldn't even be in the discussion right now. It is just more proof that actual ability means nothing in NASCAR anymore, it is who you know. " As the late Bobby Hamilton said "Kevin couldn't be a pimple on Dale Earnhardt's A**, same with Dillon."" HA! That is one of the best quotes ever. God I miss Bobby. He called it right, back in 2001 when everyone was proclaiming Kevin the next Intimidator. Too bad Bobby never got a chance to drive that #29 car (or any decent ride for that matter). He would've kicked ass. 9. Anonymous posted: 09.07.2009 - 4:12 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) The #3 is Richard's number and there's no reason he shouldn't use it for his grandson if he wants. I'm sure Dale would want a #3 out there. 10. dUDE gUY posted: 09.08.2009 - 3:22 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Someone would have used the number 3 again sooner or later, so it might as well be Childress' grandson. In any case, I was impressed with his first Truck race. Austin ran in the top ten before spinning out on his own, but rallied to a 12th place finish in his first truck start. He's also done fairly well in other series. He has earned two second place finishes and a fifteenth this year in three ARCA races, starting from 30th position or lower in each race. He's also won a race and finished second in points in the Camping World East series in '08. He's still got a ways to go, but he has already shown that he has some skill. 11. It should only be used for the family of either so I'm okay with Dillon running it in any series. Whether he'll ever get to Cup is another thing. Congrats to Skinner for a dominating win in what used to be the Morgan Dollar team but has now been revitalized as Randy Moss Motorsports. And Johnny Slaughter is starting to run away with ROTY which sucks, he shouldn't even be eligible in the first place!!! Colin Braun better have a fulltime Nationwide ride next year, he'll be cracking the top five in points before long. Timothy Peters had his 4th straight top ten and has cracked the top 10 in points; although it sucked that he replaced Johnny Benson due to sponsorship issues, at least he's been running well to show that he deserved it. 12. Mario's truck was mostly fine, but his start-and-park entries were not; Mathews was out of the race very quickly as well after damaging his radiator in the collision. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
