Matt gets black flag for "rough driving." Johnny S. also did what Matt did too Ron and Todd but backed out of it. Wanted Sauter to win but good for Mike Skinner. Matt had better watch himself, i wouldn't be worried about Todd but i'd be worried about Ron. 2. Bronco posted: 09.12.2009 - 11:04 pm Rate this comment: (0) (3) Total bullshit at the end. Hornaday blocked Crafton and got himself wrecked ans NASCAR penalizes Crafton?? How many times in the past have we seen drivers wreck the leader to win and not get black flagged? And Todd Bovine is the last guy to be talking about driving stupid. Wasn't he the one that wrecked half the field at Daytona this year? He admitted to blocking Crafton yet continued to berate him. Skinner now ties Sprague for 2nd for all time wins in the truck series with 28. Aric Almirola has his 7th straight top 10 and Ryan Sieg gets his first. Todd Kluever makes his first truck start in over 3.5 years. 3. Kit posted: 09.12.2009 - 11:08 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Mike Skinner did not have one of the best trucks in the race. He was simply in the position to inherit the lead at the end, which he did and took it to victory lane. I'll give the benefit of doubt to Matt Crafton. I think he was trying a little too hard, but I'm not sure that he was intentionally trying to wreck anyone. 4. Anonymous posted: 09.13.2009 - 12:04 am Rate this comment: (0) (1) Crafton's move on Hornaday was a dive bomb... too late into the entry to make a pass. If you're not at least up close to the other guy's door you gotta back off. Basic racing etiquette. The wreck before that with Bodine was more Bodine's fault because it was on the middle of the straightaway. 5. Especially when you consider the fact that Crafton only has one win to his name, coming over a year ago, he did what he had to. Even though Crafton didn't get the win, he still shaved some points off Hornaday's lead, although I don't see him being able to rally to win the championship. 6. Sixth time in Mike Skinner's career that his has won two or more races in a row. Gateway becomes the 21st different race track that Skinner has won at in the Truck Series. 7. Anonymous posted: 09.13.2009 - 12:58 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) "It was inside of ten laps to go - what kind of driver just backs off with an oppurtunity like that?" One that doesn't want to wreck or cause a wreck. Like Brian Scott said, Crafton had been driving Hornaday dirty on every restart that he was behind him. Sauter of all people managed to back off when he didn't have enough of a run. Of course after the race he whined and said he should of went ahead and dumped Skinner because he "passed him under caution". Just like Nashville in 2004. I don't think he understands the concept of a scoring loop. 8. Dodge posted: 09.13.2009 - 6:43 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Johnny Sauter is a crybaby. All he can do is cry. As for Crafton, he got what he deserved. I can't stand Hornaday and not that crazy about Bodine but I believe it was the right call. Go back to earlier in the race, Crafton said that he "Had a score to settle with the 33" over the radio. The when SPEEDTV talked to him he said "I ain't afraid about whatever happens." HMMMMMM, sounds suspicious to me. Todd Bodine is right, what comes around goes around so Crafton is going to have some issues in the near future. I personally wouldn't mind seeing Hornaday and Crafton both having issues that way Mike Skinner in his Randy Moss Toyota could win the Championship. 9. Darrell posted: 09.13.2009 - 8:13 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Crafton is an idiot. I do not understand how this guy still has a job after all these years. So what if he doesn't tear up equipment, it took him almost five years for him to score his first top-five...and that was without Hornaday, Skinner, and Sprague in the trucks! 10. Anonymous posted: 09.13.2009 - 9:51 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) "Crafton is an idiot. I do not understand how this guy still has a job after all these years." How bout you check the standings. 11. DaleSrFanForever posted: 09.13.2009 - 10:44 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Todd was totally at fault for his wreck. Matt never moved up, Todd just kept on blocking like the idiot that he is. Then he says "you can't fix stupid" about 50 times. If there is any expert on that, it is Todd. He has made some of the biggest bonehead moves I've ever seen. Remember Charlotte in '02? He has no right to talk about anyone being stupid when he makes moves like that. Plus the wreck was 100% his fault. His Cup career speaks for itself. I know he never drove top notch equipment, but he never earned a good ride like his brother did by posting respectable finishes for second rate owners like Cliff Stewart. Now the Hornaday wreck was totally Matt's fault. He says "I was at his quarter panel". Yeah, because you divebombed it in there!!!! He deserved to be black flagged for that. I like Matt, but that one was uncalled for. 12. Bronco posted: 09.13.2009 - 11:09 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I agree with what you said about Todd Bodine. Anyone remember how he bumpdrafted and wrecked Ron Hornaday through the frontstretch at the truck Charlotte race last year? "He deserved to be black flagged for that. I like Matt, but that one was uncalled for." Bullshit, it's called racing for the win. When it's inside of 5 or 10 laps to go, anything goes as far as I'm concerned. How many times has Dale Earnhardt used the chrome horn on others while not just racing for the win, but just racing for a position? Funny, when the shoe was on the other foot, he would get all pissed off about it. Anyone remember the fall North Wilkesboro race in 1989? 13. Ivan Balakhonov posted: 09.13.2009 - 12:39 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Racing for the win? If everybody raced for the win like Matt did, it wouldn't be NASCAR, it would be demolition derby. Entering the turn in such way wouldn't work. Especially on worn out tires. Dive-bomb plain and simple, maybe intentional one... 14. DaleSrFanForever posted: 09.13.2009 - 4:38 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Matt's move actually did make me think of North Wilkesboro in 1989. A dive bomb where the trailing car basically uses the lead car as his brakes. Matt wasn't up to Ron's quarter panel until they were already in the turn. He was beside Todd on the straightaway and Todd took himself out. But he took Ron out. 15. Kit posted: 09.13.2009 - 7:41 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "Bullshit, it's called racing for the win. Funny, when the shoe was on the other foot, he would get all pissed off about it. Anyone remember the fall North Wilkesboro race in 1989?" We entered a late model race in some redneck town one night. All of the drivers here had that mentality. They didn't give a f**k about your personal safety nor the amount of time and money you put into the car. If they wanted to "pass" you, they put you into the wall, and it didn't matter if they totaled your car which cost tens of thousands of dollars and put you in the ambulance. Bronco, that kind of white trash mentality does not belong in the sport. Matt Crafton had no way of passing Ron Hornaday in that turn. If he really was faster, he could have passed Hornaday in the straightaway. 16. Talon64 posted: 09.14.2009 - 6:13 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) If Johnny Slaughter has enough of a mind and enough respect to pull out and not do to Skinner what Crafton did to Hornaday, then what the hell is Crafton's excuse? Total bullshit by a classless asshole who has no respect for his fellow competitors, regardless of whether he intended to wreck Hornaday or Bodine or not. I'll give the Bodine wreck to Crafton but not the Hornaday one and especially when it's on back-to-back restarts. He's a one hit wonder who can only win another race by wrecking drivers far better than he is. I hope he gets what's coming to him. 17. 18fan posted: 09.14.2009 - 9:37 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Todd Bodine wrecked himself, plain and simple. He then claimed it was because the Chevy's have 20 more horsepower than the Toyota's, like that was why he got a bad jump. The Hornaday wreck was a blatant cheap shot, and I'm far from a Ron Hornaday fan. This race is going to be the day before the Nationwide race on July 16 next year. Personally, I like the Trucks during the day. I actually like all races during the day. 18. 18fan posted: 09.14.2009 - 11:46 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I watched the replay again, and Crafton was not alongside Hornaday until Ron got on the brakes. If he got beside him on the straightaway (like he did with Todd) it would be one thing, but he didn't. He just took him out. 20. Talon64 posted: 09.15.2009 - 1:30 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) And took out the guy he's racing in the points. He must figure the only way he'll ever be a champion is to wreck another. Thorsport should dump Crafton and put their support behind Sauter next season, he's won in Nationwide and has been outperforming Crafton lately. 21. Bronco posted: 09.15.2009 - 5:01 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I still think the penalty was bullshit. Jeff Gordon dumped Kenseth at Chicago in 2006 and nothing happened. Dale Earnhardt flat out wrecked Terry Labonte at Bristol in 1999 for the win. Why the hell weren't they black flagged? Crafton's penalty is just NASCAR interfering with the outcome of a race and playing God, the same way they do by throwing all those Invisibris cautions. To me this was almost as bad as them robbing Regan Smith last year. As far as I'm concerned, the winner is the guy who crosses the finish line first. Let's just get rid of all these dumb judgement calls (black flag, yellow line rule) and just let them race, especially when it's inside of 5 laps to go. 22. Talon64 posted: 09.15.2009 - 7:19 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Just because NASCAR was wrong not to black flag Jeff or Dale in those incidents doesn't mean that it's right not to in a situation like that. 23. 18fan posted: 09.15.2009 - 9:14 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Jeff should have been black flagged, but Dale's was borderline, as you can look both ways on that. 24. DaleSrFanForever posted: 09.16.2009 - 3:21 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) What sealed Matt Crafton's fate was his comments over the radio. Because of what he said it caused him to be very closely monitored. The Gordon and Earnhardt incidents happened so fast and unexpectedly, NASCAR didn't really have time to react and think about it. By Matt basically announcing his intentions over the radio, it allowed NASCAR to already be thinking of what to do in case he did turn Hornaday. And now I'll discuss the white elephant in the room: Star Treatment. Ron Hornaday is the Truck's top star, and Matt Crafton has one win in about 50,000 Truck starts. Same thing with the Earnhardt and Gordon situations. Do I agree with it? No. But it happens in every sport. You blow out Carson Palmer's knee with a low hit and nobody gives a shit. You blow out Tom Brady's knee and a new rule gets put in place. Another example is Darrell Waltrip at Martinsville in 1987. He spun out Terry Labonte and Dale Earnhardt in the final turn and nothing was done about because it was Darrell Waltrip. 26. Talon64 posted: 09.16.2009 - 4:43 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I don't think it's star treatment as much as Crafton wrecking a guy on back-to-back restarts and NASCAR having no choice regardless of who it was he wrecked. Especially a guy who he's "fighting" (really, does he have a chance?) for the championship. Stenhouse should've gotten parked for what he did to Scott Speed in ARCA last year. Crafton has become a star in himself, a guy who got his first win in forever and has become a championship "contender" (yeah right) and has gotten a lot of attention for it. 27. Anonymous posted: 09.16.2009 - 7:28 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The truck officials have always been more trigger happy with the black flag. I wouldn't mind if they threw it in the trash. Hornaday can give it and take it. If he's really mad about it he'll pay him back. He got Geoff Bodine back just one week after a crash in 1996, and that got him in trouble. Hopefully he's learned to wait a while. 28. Anonymous posted: 09.16.2009 - 7:33 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Opps it was actually 1995. Bodine spun Hornaday at Richmond and Hornaday returned the favor the next week at Martinsville. Bodine recovered, bumped Skinner out of the lead with 2 to go and Skinner retaliated by driving into the last turn wide open and taking them both out and Ruttman won. The good ol' days. 29. Its a damn shame that he doesnt' have a ride but I dont' want to see him start and park so good for him waiting for a good ride to come about. Supposedly he has the Conway Freight sponsorship signed for 2010 but just needs a team to drive for. As far as Michael Waltrip goes he is a horrible commenator. He gives absolutely no insight on the race and just promotes himself or his brother or MWR. I want to hear a commentator give insight on the actual race. I dont' care about the Sprint Cup race that hasn't happened yet. Him and his brother are the two worst commentators in NASCAR. I'll take Kenny Wallace anyday or even Wally Dallenbach. Sure he didn't win a race in his career but his wins wasn't gift wrapped like Mikeys 33.
