"the cuban missile" Aric Almirola gets close too VL once again, if Cup drivers would made their P's and Q's. The GOAT gets best carrer finish, i hope he wins a race this year. And what was Todd Bodine whining about? I was half-listening too him. (but i always half-listen too him anyway LOL) 2. The Nationwide only team of RWR isn't exactly the best IMO. Steve Wallace in a good truck = good results. 5. Those two should be focusing more on their cup efforts. Kyle's best finish is cup this year is 14th. I know Kevin is doing great in cup this year so far. I understand Kevin wanting to race the truck for Atlanta to a point. Kevin is either great or bad at Atlanta during his cup career. Some of the other tracks Kevin has no excuse for needing extra track time. Steve Wallace finds a series that he is great at. I have no problem with Steve doing Truck races as long as he doesn't attempt to do cup races this year. I expect Almirola start to win races when Kyle isn't racing in the truck series. 6. Eric posted: 03.06.2010 - 6:48 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) AD9, Ron Hornaday had a tire problem. During the start of the race, Crafton, Hornaday, and Kyle Busch went 3 wide on the first lap. Ron and Kyle got into each other. The two drivers had damage on their trucks. Kyle's damage wasn't like Hornaday's was. Kyle got his damage fixed under caution. Ron cut a tire because of the damage he got from lap 1 of the race. 7. Truck debut for Steve Wallace and he finishes an impressive 4th and leads a few laps as well. Who says he isn't ready for Cup? Ron Hornaday is off to what is probably his worst ever start to the season thanks to a wreck and now a blown tire. Sad that Musgrave and Benson don't have full time rides and Chad McCumbee is now doing start and parks. 9. Cfob posted: 03.06.2010 - 7:10 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "Who says he isn't ready for Cup?" Ooh! Ooh! Right here! Can't recall who it was, but near the last pit stop I believe it was he did make pretty solid contact with someone. Don't get me wrong, Steve has improved a TON, but he's still a weapon on the track. Maybe not the monkey with a handgun that he used to be, but he's still an enraged Grandma with a keychain mace can. Brilliant move by Harvick to use David Starr as a moving hurdle for Kyle Busch on that last restart. 10. 12345Dude posted: 03.06.2010 - 7:21 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Cup guys finish top 2. Oh well I gave up on that argument. I don't see why Kevin doesn't give some of the equipment he has had recently, to Ron. Ron didn't win at all at the end of the season. Kevin should of gave some of his equipment he won with, to Ron. Also really good run by Steve. A lot of people are probly going to get upset at him, about the Todd incident. But it was just racing. Also a name I know it now going to be bought up. And that man is Brad Sweet. Who the hell is he? And what ride is he in? Never heard of them. Great ron. But than again Great Clips might of gave him some extraw money. Who knows. But I have how the announcers don't even mention him. Just like they are doing with Scott Riggs, in nationwide. 11. 12345Dude posted: 03.06.2010 - 7:22 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Next time I'm re reading what I wrote. Hahaha, that's pretty funny. Steve has run 3 complete Nationwide seasons so far and has improved in every one of them, and if the first three races of 2010 are any indication that trend will continue, probably to a top 5 points finish. Sure he hasn't won or come close either, but it's kinda hard to do that when you have to compete with an army of Cup drivers and teams each weekend. 17. DaleSrFanForever posted: 03.06.2010 - 8:07 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I've gotten to the point that I'm not irritated by Cup regulars like Kevin and Kyle dipping in lower series, I'm amused by it. It's like they have to get their brief moment of glory before the Cup race when JJ inevitably blows them out of the water. They pretty much have to do this if they are to build a large amount of "NASCAR wins" (which is a complete load of crap) and not look like the underachieving schmucks they are. You hear the announcers talk about "Kevin/Kyle now has X amount of "NASCAR wins"" when only about 1/4 of them are Cup wins. Hell, if you only take JJ's results from Martinsville and Charlotte, he has more Cup wins than Harvick and almost as many as Kryle. And yes I'm aware Kevin is leading the Cup points right now and looking really fast. But Kryle led the Cup points for a long time in 2008, even getting 8 wins. We all know how that turned out. Kevin's talking a big game (as always), but the #48 guys aren't even paying attention. Harvick's last Cup win was the 2007 Daytona 500. JJ has won TWENTY SIX RACES since then. From last year's Spring Atlanta race to the present point, Kryle has won 3 Cup races. JJ has 9. You would think that would mean something to those two. Watching that black #3 vehicle run 15th to 18th all day, then take advantage of late attrition to finish 10th, I thought it was 1997, 1998 or 1999 again. I'm starting to change my view on them running the #3 truck. Especially a predominantly black one with the famous #3 logo. Austin is doing a good job of learning, and it shouldn't be held against him. And yes, I'm aware Richard had the #3 way before he hooked up with Dale, but if you're gonna run it, do it right. It just makes me uncomfortable. Oh well, at least he finished ahead of Geoff Bodine. If he finished behind Geoff, I'd be REALLY going nuts. 18. If Steve's a "weapon" on the track, then the majority of the field are weapons. He hasn't been a weapon since 2007. DSFF/Bronco - JR Motorsports is a Nationwide only team, but they get a lot of engineering help from Hendrick. JR Motorsports is much more on top of their game than Rusty Wallace Racing is, but maybe that's coming around. Gibbs has only helped them with aerodynamics, but the switch to Toyota seems to be helping them a little. 21. DaleSrFanForever posted: 03.06.2010 - 8:45 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Thank you Watto. Watto posted: 03.06.2010 - 9:46 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) This year RWI's engines are actually from Triad Racing Technologies. Triad does the engines for a bunch of Toyota teams, including Braun Racing. Gibbs keeps their engines to themselves. RWI got some bodywork help from Gibbs prior to the Cali race, but I'm not sure what they've gotten beyond that. Certainly the Toyota engineering notes are helping them, though. 24. Brad Sweet is one the best open wheel drivers in the country and drives in USAC for Kasey Kahne. He has won in everything he has driver since he was a little kid and is one of the most talented driver in the country. He just needs more seat time in stock cars. His car owner is Doug Stringer who has been around for a while, mainly been a car owner in the ARCA series for primarily Bob Schacht. They are, I'm sure, getting extra cash from Great Clips through Brad's association with Kasey Kahne. 32. (Greg Biffle and Kyle Busch the first two. Biffle did it right by moving from Trucks to Nationwide to Cup to accomplish it.) Kyle Busch's 2nd is his 5th top-2 finish in 6 Atlanta starts (4 wins). He's also started in the top five in all 6 starts. I don't mind if Cup guys run in lower series if they own the cars/trucks. Kyle was actually satisfied with finishing 2nd for once and it was because he realized as a car owner it was a good run for his start-up team. This is the 11th time that Billy Ballew has had two of it's trucks finish in the top 10, but the first time it's been done without Kyle Busch. It was Almirola's first top ten of the year while Steve Wallace finished 4th in his Truck Series debut, the 25th driver (i think, it was mentioned on SPEED) to finish in the top five in his Truck debut. Todd Bodine's 5th place finish after coming back from a spin gives him the point lead. It's only two races in but after Hornaday's problems Bodine is in the driver's seat for his 2nd championship. Crafton caused Bodine's spin and hit the wall himself so a 27th place finish moved him down to 8th in the standings. Ricky Carmichael finished a career-best 6th, his 3rd career top ten in his 20th start. Timothy Peters backed up his Daytona win with his 20th career top ten in his 70th career start. Rick Crawford and his #14 Circle Bar team almost didn't race at Atlanta but he finished 9th. Austin Dillon was the ROTR after finishing 10th, his first career top ten. Justin Lofton had a top 10 run going before Shane Sieg showed the form that cost him his ride at Billy Ballew Motorsports. His younger brother Ryan followed up a 16th at Daytona with an 18th here to sit 13th in the standings, continuing the solid performance that was equal to anything Shane did with Ballew. Good on Ryan, shame on Shane. Jennifer Jo Cobb finished a career-best 21st, albeit 3 laps down. Ron Hornaday is sitting 28th in the standings after finishes of 27th and 34th in the first two races of the season. He's already 192 points behind Todd Bodine for the points lead who's as good as anyone in the series. Fortunately Ron had a Truck good enough to contend for the win so the performance is there with his new crew chief so he's not out of it yet. 33.
