Hornaday and Sauter both save what looked like two surely wrecked trucks, but Sauter doesn't wear his tires quite as bad as Hornaday and goes on to take the win. Wow, what a finish. And how about JBJ there in 5th? Three starts, Three top 10s and two top 5s. It's an absolute shame he only has one more for sure ride this year. 2. I hope he can contented for the title this year. 3. That was BIG! 5. thatguy88 posted: 05.02.2010 - 9:58 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Brian Ickler has 2 top 5s in his first two races for Kyle Busch Motorsports. I might be a little too quick to judge but I'll say that if Malsalm continues to run mid-pack through the next 7-8 races he could be replaced by Ickler in the full-time ride. I know Malsam crashed today but if Ickler can continue to run in the top 5 when he gets a chance, I think Kyle has to let Ickler run full-time and maybe try Malsam in the 18 truck part-time. It was also nice to Ken Schrader run in the top 10 driving for KHI, I hope to see him more often if Kevin will give him a chance. Jason White went from 7th to 11th in the last two laps of the race. 6. Timmy Quivy posted: 05.02.2010 - 10:26 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Ken Schrader's best NASCAR finish since April 2008 7. Tony Jackson Jr. career best finish and first lap led (15th). James Buescher made his first start in the second Turner Motorsports truck. Jesse Smith's first career start (29th). 9. And huge huge huge huge huge kudos for the guys in charge of the Truck Series for not throwing out the caution right away and letting the race continue. Some great runs by young guys, Ickler in 4th continues to hold up his share compared to Kyle in the #18 and Austin Dillon really turned it on late for his best career finish. James Buescher was having the race of his Truck career before he had to pit late for tire problems but it was an experimental truck for Turner Motorsports that they plan to base any new trucks that they build on. Timothy Peters was running in the top five when he had battery/electrical problems and finished 23rd, 6 laps down. His point lead has shrunk to 22 over Todd Bodine and now Hornaday's just 97 points back. Peters would've had another top five otherwise so he's still showing that he's worthy of fighting for the championship. 12. It's his first top five of the season with his previous best being 8th. It also Thorsport's 3rd Truck win, all in the last 3 seasons. Sauter has two of them in 30 starts with the organization while Matt Crafton only has one in 202 starts. Ron Hornaday collected his 3rd straight podium finish with a 2nd place finish, his 125th career top five. Todd Bodine collected his series-leading 4th top five with a 3rd place finish. Brian Ickler's 4th is his 2nd straight top five finish and the first time he's had back-to-back top tens. He has 4 career top fives in 13 Truck starts but only one other top ten finish. Johnny Benson finished 5th for a 2nd straight race in the #15 BBM Truck. He has top tens in all 3 of his Truck starts this season. He's pretty much replaced Dennis Setzer as the guy who can run well in anything he drives if he can get the chance. Austin Dillon was the highest finishing rookie in 6th, his best career finish and 2nd top ten of the season which moved him up to 8th in the standings. Aric Almirola finished top 10 for a 4th straight race, but his best career streak was 7 in a row last season (in his starts). Mike Skinner got just his 2nd top ten of the season, and his best finish is only 7th. Ken Schrader's 9th place finish in the #2 KHI truck allows the team to keep the owners points lead but by just 9 points over the #18 KBM team which has 4 straight top fives between Kyle Busch and Brian Ickler. David Starr finished in the top 10 for the first time this season. 13. Anonymous posted: 05.04.2010 - 12:17 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) It also Thorsport's 3rd Truck win, all in the last 3 seasons. Terry Cook won I believe it was Flemington in either 97 or 98 in the 88 back in the early years of the truck series. 14. It's good to see him find a home in the Trucks after years of being bounced around from crappy Cup and Nationwide rides. 16. dUDE gUY posted: 05.06.2010 - 4:02 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) This was a pretty amazing race, in my opinion anyways. There was a pretty big storm at around lap 110. The skies were a deep grey, the winds were strong, and it was raining and hailing pebble-sized chunks of ice on the track. It lasted for maybe 15-30 minutes, and then it was gone and the skies were blue, as if there was no storm to begin with. The cleanup took just over an hour I believe. Which must have sucked for fans at the track and at home, but it was great for me, because there was yardwork that needed to be done. I finished it with just enough time to get comfortable to watch the green flag fly. Awesome! And I am so glad that they restarted the race instead of calling it. I was both glad and amazed that both Sauter and Hornaday recovered after getting into each other and having both of their trucks turned at a 45 degree angle! I'm just as glad and amazed that the sanctioning body for the truck series didn't throw the caution either! All in all an excellent race. Another instance where the truck series earned their unnoficial title as the best racing in NASCAR's top three national touring series. 17.
