He is doing wonders with the new truck team. That is Long's best finish in the NASCAR series to date. Way to go for Ricky C. coming back from an oil leak fire in practice & a crash in qualifying with a 4th place. What a crazy finish!!! 7. Nice to since Buescher rebound from another Finch screwjob by finishing 2nd. Lofton desperately needed a good run and finished 3rd. Carmichael is definitely the most improved driver this year, finishing 4th. Pretty darn crazy ending. 8. Schwab posted: 05.14.2010 - 11:10 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Unbelievable finish. Almirola was 4th on the next to last restart and the front two don't pickup what little fuel they had left and Almirola comes outs with the lead. At one point Almirola was two laps down due to an unscheduled stop under green. Career best finishes for the top four finishers. First NCWTS win for Aric Almirola. First career top 5s for Justin Lofton and Ricky Carmichael. Ryan Sieg ties a career best finish. Career best finish for Carl Long. No Rick Crawford in this race, hopefully the #14 team can get some sponsorship to make it back to the track. I'd say Almirola could be an underdog pick for the championship with everyone picking the veterans Hornaday, Bodine, and Crafton. 9. Where has this kind of talent been... his whole "career". 10. Anonymous posted: 05.14.2010 - 11:34 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) What a joke. An exciting joke, but a joke. The finish order is what you might expect of an ARCA race. Ballew can think of what might of been if he hadn't put Cup drivers in his trucks for so long. His trucks have been championship caliber for a while but he'd rather have the easy wins. 11. Aric Almirola gets a little bit of satisfaction from 3 years ago when, in a Nationwide race, he got pulled from the car in Milwaukee, Denny Hamlin got in and won. 14. He also took over the point lead and is proving to be a legit championship contender. 10th was Johnny Benson's worst finish of 2010; how does he not have a full time ride? 15. Forgive me for not wanting my favorite series to resemble ARCA. Yes Carl Long finishes 11th in a competitive race. My bad. Timmy Quivy posted: 05.15.2010 - 11:16 am Rate this comment: (1) (0) Carl Long finished 11th in an attrition race. Sure, he didn't have competitive equipment, but he ran a solid race and stayed out of trouble. Racing rewards that just as much as it does reward speed and strategy. 17. Cooper posted: 05.15.2010 - 1:59 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Carl Long, has been through a lot. With all the stupid fines NASCAR handed his team last year, for inconsequential violations. Carl deserves luck and karma and all of that. I'm glad for his run, and the truck series is notorious for random good runs by drivers. Ricky Carmichael 6th in points? holy crap he actually does have a shot of making something happen in NASCAR... Carl Long has never had a Top 10 finish in any of NASCAR's main series, so I'm hoping eventually he gets that. Thumbs Up to the NCWTS 18. To watch him dominate a race like this, then lose under such hilarious circumstances, it felt like Christmas. Watching him stumble down pit road as everyone else was taking off gave me a rush like I haven't had watching sports in a while. And a big time congrats to Aric Almirola. I hope he wins some more races and propels himself up the ranks. The way JGR screwed him at Milwaukee is beyond unexcusable. "10th was Johnny Benson's worst finish of 2010; how does he not have a full time ride?" Beats me. 19. Talon64 posted: 05.17.2010 - 4:57 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) This was a long time coming for Aric after getting screwed by JGR and Rockwell, and losing his Cup ride with DEI/Ginn thanks to lack of sponsorship. Sometimes it's good to go back down a level or two to get back on your feet and prove yourself again. Aric Almirola and Reed Sorenson are great examples with Aric contending for a Truck championship and Reed helping the #32 contend for the Nationwide owners championship. "Nice to since Buescher rebound from another Finch screwjob by finishing 2nd." This was different than past instances of Finch screwjobs. The team lost their full time Nationwide and part time Cup sponsor to start the year and they stuck with Buescher as long as they could. I'd rather them do what they can do to stay alive and keep another competitive Nationwide-only team in the field rather than stay with Buescher and fold up. Besides, Buescher's better off contending for wins in Trucks. He ran great at Kansas and finished 2nd with a top 10 Truck. This was only Turner Motorsports' 9th race in the Trucks dating back to last season and they got two Trucks in the top 4 with Buescher and Ricky Carmichael. Justin Lofton was running top 10 too and after all the bad luck he's had of late he deserved a good break and his 3rd place finish. I was really hoping Johnny Benson would win the race, it's too bad he had the vapor lock or whatever that happened on that restart that put him at the back. He's 16th in the standings, best of the drivers who haven't run every race this year and ahead of 10 drivers with as many or more starts, and he's tied for 3rd with 4 top tens on the season. I hope Billy Ballew is smart enough to sign up Johnny to the #15 long term, he'll have two championship caliber drivers under his belt. 23. Talon64 posted: 05.17.2010 - 6:15 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Aric Almirola's first career Truck Series win is just the 2nd win for BBM with a driver other than Kyle Busch (Shane Hmiel at Las Vegas in 2004). Aric, James Buescher, Justin Lofton and Ricky Carmichael and Ryan Sieg all got their best career finishes with their top tens. Buescher's is just his 2nd career top five in 29 Truck starts. Lofton was the highest finishing rookie in a race for the first time this season and has cut Austin Dillon's ROTY points lead to just 2. Ricky Carmichael got his first career top five, but his 3rd top ten of 2010 is already more than he had in 18 races last season. Ryan Sieg actually ties his best career finish with a 9th, his 2nd career top ten in 16 starts. Ryan's 15th in the standings compared to older brother Shane who's 29th with S&P's in his 5 starts this season. Todd Bodine's 70th career top five is also his series-leading 5th, 2 more than anyone else. Bodine's other finish is a 30th while Aric Almirola's is a 12th and that's the difference between Aric leading the standings and Bodine being 2nd. That and Aric's win. David Starr gets his 2nd straight top ten after none in the first 4 races. Teammate Mike Skinner gets his 3rd straight after none in the first 3. Johnny Benson finishes in the top 10 for a 5th straight race dating back to last season in his starts. It's already been mentioned but Carl Long's 11th is his best finish ever among NASCAR's top 3 divisions. His previous best was 17th at Texas in the Trucks way back in 2000. He has 3 top 20's in 47 combined starts but all in 10 career Truck starts. Ron Hornaday has either finished in the top 3 or finished outside the top 10 this year, 3 and 3. Kyle Busch won the pole and led the most laps but being forced to pit for fuel right at the last restart put him down to 16th. Surprisingly the #18 still managed to take the lead in the owners standings but only by 2 over the #51 BBM team. The #2 dropped to 3rd, 25 points back with the #30 in 4th and 29 points behind. Timothy Peters had led the standings after 4 of the first 5 races of the season but back to back finishes in the 20's has dropped him to 3rd, 72 points behind Almirola for the point lead. 24.
