It seemed they had one camera on Kyle Busch and one camera on the rest of the field, then Mikey defended Kyle for coming into victory lane and acted like Kyle had never been a jerk or cried about people racing him hard before. Great run by Ryan Sieg btw 8. Mike posted: 09.04.2010 - 12:56 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I'm gonna vomit. What is up with the media kissing Kyle Busch's ass? His combined win totals aren't as impressive as the great's CUP victories, and if the all time greats had the opportunity or wanted to run 3 times a weekend they would make Kyle's combined win total look rubbish. Imagine if Petty had the opportunity to run 3 races in 1 weekend. Who knows how many races he would have won. Todd's comments about Kyle were 100% accurate. I'm sure most drivers feel that way too. 9. New 14&88 posted: 09.04.2010 - 1:08 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Another race, another temper tantrum by Kryle. Or maybe he shouldn't get so worked up after winning on pure luck, in a race he had no business winning, and was only in position to win because he wrecked himself, causing a caution that allowed him pit out of sequence without falling a lap down. If I was Bodine, I'd be be mad too, but not because Kyle Busch raced him dirty. I'd be mad that a 25 year old created his own Truck team out of nothing, barely scrapes sponsorship together, and can still lead more laps and win more races than me, while running half the races I do. I would feel like my championship lead, and really my entire career, is a sham. Way to go Bodine, you've now won 1 more race than Busch in the Trucks. And all it took you was about 20 more years, twice as many starts, and a lot of luck in this one meaningless race. And yeah, Kyle Busch doesn't deserve to be mentioned with the all-time greats yet. But you can't tell me that all of Richard Petty's or David Pearson's wins came in more competitive races than these modern Nationwide and Truck races. Go back and look at the stats, Petty won a lot of races against small fields of less than 30, and he'd often win by multiple laps. Not exactly competitive. The same drivers wouldn't race every race, and a lot of those fields were patchwork collections of independent teams that had no shot whatsoever at competing with Petty. And the length of the races were sometimes as short as 100 miles. And they'd race multiple times a week, like Busch does now. I think you look pretty foolish trying to act like Petty's 200 Cup wins are all the equivalent of a modern Cup win. If you want to say that Petty would have won even more races had he been racing multiple series, well I say you also have to accept that Kyle Busch could have won even more in Cup in a less competitive era where his raw talent would make even more of a difference than it does today. And seeing how much he loves to race, he'd be stinking up a lot of those weaker races just like he does today, and Petty did back then. 12. Kyle Busch, Ron Hornaday , Austin Dillon and others stayed out. The fuel window was 55-60 laps, and Bodine was just barely within that window, so he and pretty much everyone else who finished on the lead lap (other than Kyle Busch) gambled and stayed out while others who pit before lap 98 had to pit for fuel. Todd Bodine's comments were iffy, but even more ridiculous was the pure lack of class Kyle Busch showed by trying to cause a problem in victory lane. Also, Todd Bodine has 158 starts compared to Busch's 79. Took him 20 years? Don't be foolish. You're making yourself look stupid. Todd Bodine's been full time in trucks since 2005. There's nothing to brag about when it comes to winning truck races with pretty much the best team in the field. Winning a bunch of Nationwide and Truck races with the best stuff isn't the equivalent of doing it in Cup, which is why Jimmie Johnson will forever be remembered as someone who accomplished more in NASCAR. All that smaller series stuff is an afterthought to Cup, but apparently no one told Kyle that because he likes to brag about his combined totals.. which is also sad, being that no one races as much of the lower stuff as he does. Even Elliott Sadler can win a truck race when he's not 5 laps down on Sunday in Cup with the mediocre 19 car... 24. You're making yourself look stupid. Todd Bodine's been full time in trucks since 2005." Learn how to read. I already said Todd Bodine only has made twice as many starts as Busch. And believe it or not, he's 20 years older than Busch! Why is that significant? Because how much more will Busch have accomplished by the time he gets to Todd Bodine's age? I know it's crazy right, it's almost as if all that information was in my first post, you just didn't bother to figure out what any of it meant. It's called reading, and you should try it. And I love the irony in someone trying to take down Busch for his wins with "superior equipment" by using the example of Jimmie Johnson in Cup. It's almost as if you know nothing about racing whatsoever. But I don't believe in dumb excuses like that anyway, when the differences between these cars is measured in hundredths of seconds. "Superior equipment" is just the excuse people use when they can't stand to see their driver get beat. Is Busch really that much faster? Don't act like a brand new technical alliance with Gibbs automatically means that Busch's trucks are all superior to those fielded by Kevin Harvick, Jack Roush, or Richard Childress, who have been in the series and really trying at it for years. Why do you think of Gibbs as a Truck series powerhouse, when they don't even run Trucks? And do they really have more money than Roush and Childress to spend on the Trucks? NO. And what about all those wins Busch had at Billy Ballew? Those weren't the same trucks he's running this year, yet he's still winning. You know what, maybe if Kyle Busch's stuff is so much better (while still being totally within all NASCAR regulations), the other teams should try to catch up instead of complaining. The fact that you think Kyle Busch is winning because all his equipment is so much better, says more about how pathetic Todd Bodine, Ron Hornaday, and other teams are, than how good Kyle Busch is. I suggest that they, and you for that matter, stop b****ing about Kyle Busch winning these races, and start b****ing more about how nobody seems to be even trying to get better than him. If they can't figure out how to beat him, then they don't deserve to win. Geez, so many people think that wins should just be handed out to everyone just for trying. No wonder NASCAR is in such decline, when the fans can't stop complaining about the drivers who actually have the passion and talent to race and win on a regular basis. 28. 18fan posted: 09.04.2010 - 7:11 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I am a Kyle Busch fan, but I really hate the way everybody, especially SPEED, tries to glorify his wins in Truck and NW. 29. History!! Somebody hand me a bucket, a bag, a container, a purse, or any other storage item because I'm am going to puke in a projectile manner. Of those 5 wins, 3 would be Truck wins, 1 Nwide, and 1 Cup win. He is a full time Cup competitior and has been since 2005. By my count, that is ONE win. The JGR press release said he was TIED at 4 consecutive wins with Cale Yarborough, Darrell Waltrip, Dale Earnhardt, Mark Martin, Jeff Gordon, and Jimmie Johnson. Uh, guess what morons. THOSE GUYS ALL WON THEIR CONSECUTIVE RACES IN THE >>>>CUP<<<< SERIES. What a freaking joke. In his CUP career, he has won TWO races in a row ONE TIME!!! ONE FREAKING TIME!!!! And this is an "all time great"? When one of his contemporaries, JJ, continuously blows him off the radar like dust behind a Jimmy Spencer fart, you cannot claim "greatness". Just for the record, JJ has won 2 consecutive races SIX times (each of which came during Kyle's career), plus he also won 3 in a row in '04 (before Kyle started driving full time in Cup), and of course he won FOUR in a row in '07 (in the same equipment Kyle was driving). Plus, those 4 in a row came in the cha$e. Kyle has ONE career cha$e victory, and that was in a year he wasn't even in the cha$e. JJ has SEVENTEEN cha$e wins (including those stretches of 3 and 4 in a row). This is just Kyle trying to pump himself up and look good, and get everyone to forget how bad he ckokes when the pressure is on. And yes, Todd was out of line to complain about that move (I saw the replay during the Atlanta NWide pre-race show just before Rusty informed us, about Atlanta, "These changing lanes are gonna change a lot"). But for Kyle to take such offense to that that he went to victory lane to confront Todd shows a major inferiority complex. First of all, why does he care? He is a full time Cup driver in top notch Cup equipment. THAT should be what concerns him. Loser. 30. AHDIW posted: 09.04.2010 - 11:07 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I love seeing how pissed DaleSrFan gets when Kyle Busch does anything. Yeah the media over-hypes Kyle's accomplishments, but I don't think I've ever heard them refer to him as an "all-time great", they just put up stats and expect you to make that comparison (good thing there are real troopers like you to keep proving that wrong, again and again and again... and don't you have anything better to do?). The problem with ESPN, and other sports media, is they always try to find stats and stories behind any sporting event to try and make it more interesting. So with Busch they want desperately to say, "hey guys, this is the next great driver here, pay attention to our coverage to see for yourself!". They do the same kind of crap with baseball, basketball, football, you name it. And it's almost always an athlete that has yet to truly measure up against the greats, but has the potential to. Guess what, some of them do eventually become all time greats. It IS possible to watch the progression of an athletes career, and see that they are doing as well as some of the best at the same point. I suggest you stop paying so much attention to what the media says, and just enjoy watching an entertaining young driver who makes racing more interesting even if you're rooting against him. And really, stop forming so many opinions based on media coverage, that's just pathetic. You watch NASCAR, you know Busch has 19 Cup wins, and you know damn well that is a pretty good number for his age. Stop trying to act like Busch's career is anywhere near over, or in any way comparable to drivers who have long since retired. It isn't fair to Busch, and it makes you look like an impressionable idiot. Everyone who actually knows racing knows Busch is no Jeff Gordon, or Jimmie Johnson yet; you aren't proving anything to anyone that matters by complaining about it constantly. But you can AT LEAST acknowledge that Busch has accomplished a respectable amount in the Cup series (nearly top 30 in wins already), and has the potential to accomplish more. If you disagree with that, then you aren't worth arguing with anyway, you're just another biased idiot that lets the media influence your opinion. 31. The truck series is currently made up of a few talented drivers well past their prime (Hornaday, Bodine, Skinner), a few drivers who will never be better than third-tier (Peters, Crafton, Starr), and a bunch of no talent hacks who should be racing late models somewhere. These guys all run one short 200 mile race 25 weeks a year. None of the teams are particularly strong. Not the #33 which has had 5 different crew chiefs this year. Not the #30 which came close to shutting down last year. Kyle winning these races is not an accomplishment, nor is it interesting. 32. 18fan posted: 09.05.2010 - 2:37 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) DSFF, I completely agree with the fact that none of Kyle's accomplishments outside of Cup should be mentioned very much. His wins aren't even that impressive in Cup, except winning four times at Bristol from 15th or worse. I have every race from the 1998 Cup season on tape, and the races were interesting even when Gordon was winning them all. In Jeff's four race winning streak, at least two of them (Watkins Glen and Michigan) were more impressive than any of Kyle's career wins. At Watkins Glen he had to make spectacular passes on two of the greatest road course drivers of the era, Mark Martin and Rusty Wallace, and then have a spirited run down of Mike Skinner. Then at Michigan, he was terrible most of the day, but they worked on the car and finally got it to the point where he could outrun Bobby Labonte, Dale Jarrett, and Mark Martin who were much faster than him most of the day. Also in 1998, in the spring race at Rockingham, Jeff was 30th at one point, yet never gave up and came back to win. I am a huge Kyle Busch fan, but I am also one of his biggest critics, and he would've probably given up when he fell to 30th, see Chicago, Cup '09, Homestead, Truck '09. And in Mark Martin's 1993 four race streak, he won two of the races after having lug nut problems on his car and coming back to win both on two of the toughest racetracks to pass on, Watkins Glen and Bristol. It is a shame that the media doesn't remember these days and has to try to make a big deal out of a full time CUP driver in his SIXTH year winning four NASCAR races in a row when three of them are minor league races and he has the best equipment in both of them. Yes I am a huge Kyle Busch fan, I have all sorts of memorabilia, in fact I wore a Kyle Busch shirt today, but everybody needs to take him out of the discussions about the greats and their streaks, all of which came in Cup. Even Gant's 6 straight had 4 Cup wins. If Kyle would've hit 6 in a row, it would've been 3 Truck, 2 Nationwide, and 1 Cup. 33. And he also openly acknowledges that this total win count means something to him, despite being a Cup veteran driving for one of the two best Cup organizations in NASCAR. That draws my ire. When some of those "historic accomplishments" start coming in Cup, then I'll be impressed. Right off the bat, that will be nearly impossible. It will be extremely difficult for him to do anything of note that JJ hasn't already done. Even in Kyle's banner year, '08, when he won 8 races (Dale Earnhardt only topped that in a season twice), he totally bombed in the cha$e. I hate the cha$e, but everyone knew that those last 10 races were all that really mattered. Kyle started off with a few mechanical issues, and never even came close to a win in those last 10. Conversely, in 2006, JJ strted the cha$e with a 39th at Loudon, and 3 more finishes outside the Top 10, culminating with the infamous Dega race where he made the winning pass on June on the last lap, only to be wrecked by Vickers and finished 24th leading to him being EIGHTH in points over 150 points back. If that were Kyle, he would have packed it in. JJ just dug deeper, put on a clinic over the last 6 races, and hasn't lost the championship since. For reasons like these, Kyle has no room to crow. In the NASCAR world, he is CLEARLY a second class citizen, along with everyone else not named "Jimmie Johnson". He could diffuse these media people, but only feeds them. 34. potatosalad48 posted: 09.05.2010 - 11:25 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Good news: Kyle Busch didn't win. Thankfully the fuel mileage gamble by the top 6 finishers put an end to that. Todd Bodine wins his 21st race in the Trucks, putting him back into 4th all time ahead of Kyle Busch. He's one win off of his career high of 5 set in 2005. It's his 13th top five in 18 races this year, while no one else has hit double digits yet. Johnny Sauter gets his 3rd runner up finish of the season, 2nd most behind Todd Bodine this season. Sauter only has 10 top tens, ranked 7th this year, but his 9 top fives is tied for 2nd most. Aric Almirola's 7th top five of the season ties his career high for most in a Truck Series season; he had 7 in 16 starts last season. It's his 6th straight top ten finish. Jason White scores his 4th top five in 97 career Truck Series starts, his first since he finished 4th at Daytona to start 2010. Ricky Carmichael gets his 2nd career top five in 36 Truck starts. Timothy Peters' 14th top ten of the season is a new career high. Kyle Busch led the most laps in a race for the 6th time in 10 starts this season. But his 7th place finish combined with Todd's win means the #18 is now 82 points behind the #30 Germain team for the lead in the owners standings. Ryan Sieg gets his 3rd top ten in 28 career Truck Series starts, his 2nd of the season. Austin Dillon won his 4th pole of the season, tying Kyle Busch for the most this season. It also ties the rookie record for poles in a season, held by Greg Biffle (1998) and Kurt Busch (2000). He was the highest finishing rookie in the race, scoring his 12th top ten of the season. His lead in the ROTY standings is 43 points over Justin Lofton. Matt Crafton gets his 9th straight top ten finish, the longest by any driver this season. 43.
