Cole Whitt was looking good in the #60 truck until he tried to pull up in front of Austin Dillon and didn't clear him causing Cole to slam the wall. That was a rookie mistake he'll learn not to make in the future. Congrats to Todd Bodine and the Germain Racing team on the drivers championship and to Kyle on clinching the Owner's title in his first year as a truck owner. 5. Hornaday did set a career low with an average finish of 13.6 for the 2010 season. His previous low was 12.0 in 2006. Johnny Sauter finished the season strong with three third places finishes and one second place finish in the final four races of 2010. Sauter scored twice as many top five finishes this season compared to 2009 but he only scored three more top ten finishes than he did in 2009. Aric Almirola finishes the season with a streak of 13 consecutive top ten finishes. Matt Crafton finishes the season with a streak of 16 consecutive top ten finishes. Crafton's winless streak is now up to 69 races. Mike Skinner failed to win a pole in a season for the first time when he has run a full schedule and failed to win at least one race in a full season for only the second time in his NCWTS career. Skinner also set a career low by only having two top five finishes this season. Miguel Paludo scores his second top ten finish in his fourth career start. Taylor Malsam scores his first top ten of the season in his eleventh start. It is Malsam's first top ten finish since Las Vegas in 2009. Solid runs for rookies Craig Goess & David Mayhew. David Starr failed to score a top five finish in a full season for the first time in his career. Starr's previous career low for a season was three in 2007. Jason White hangs on to finish a career best 10th in points over James Buescher. NCWTS debut for Cole Whitt. 2010 Rookie of the Year Austin Dillon sets a rookie record with seven poles this season and by winning the pole for this race, Dillon broke a tie with Kyle Busch for most poles in 2010. 7. Dodge also gets shut out, the Mopars haven't visited victory lane in the Truck series since 2008. Both Ford and Dodge cut their factory funding to the Trucks so sadly its not a surprise. Humorously when Austin Dillon bumped the wall SPEED announcer Michael Waltrip dated himself as seeing a black #3 Chevrolet truck he proclaimed "Oh and Skinner's in the wall." Mike Skinner last drove the black #3 in 1996, Waltrip himself pointed out his mistake seconds later and said he was thinking "way back." 8. He was alright, but his blue #72 Chevy wasn't. The red flag was mostly to clean up the sand. 9. irony posted: 11.20.2010 - 3:45 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Two Waltrips in the booth and another win by a Cup driver. For the first time ever I'm glad the season is over. I will give kyle props on some amazing passes though, but then again the back half of the field was pathetic this year. 10. awesomegordonfan posted: 11.20.2010 - 6:20 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Quite a hit for John Jackson...I thought it would last really long, so I didn't watch the whole thing. Only lead lap finish for Jennifer Jo Cobb. I thought Shane Sieg would be in the Cup series by now, but instead another talented driver HAS to S&P. 11. ii posted: 11.20.2010 - 6:55 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) At least Kyle possibly won't be in the truck next year. I heard Rick Allen say "if he can get a young guy in this truck, it can win the owner's and driver's championship!" I'll be happy about that if this happens. John Jackson took a hard hit, I'm glad he's okay but the Gosselin team had a lot of engine problems or crashes this year. Mario had 3 crashes, 4 blown engines and 1 engine related problem, along with a failing ignition. In 4 races, John Jackson has 3 DNF's (1 crash, the other 2 start-and-park) Jeffrey Earnhardt can finally drive without crashing! Although he was 26th, this is only the 2nd time he wasn't involved in some sort of crash this season. Once again, something besides a Ford wins, and once again, a Ford is in the way for tremendous battles. First start this season for Derek White after not qualifying for the Kansas race earlier this season. Jennifer Jo Cobb's only lead lap finish of the year. Travis Kvapil and David Mayhew took one of the restarts when most other drivers pitted, and Kvapil stayed up front for a while before Hornaday took the lead. Johanna Long's 3rd top-20 of the year. 12. ii posted: 11.20.2010 - 6:56 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) And just 1 start+park (and just 3 DNF's). I'm happy about that. 13. Just as a side note: I'm really hoping Darrell gets passed over yet again for the NASCAR Hall of Fame next year. Althought he absolutely deserves to be in due to his elite driving career (he actually deserved to be in this year), I just think his reaction of being passed over a second time would be priceless. It would be like when Earnhardt turned him head on into the wall at Richmond in 1986. It was wrong, but Darrell's reaction was priceless. It's already priceless that his most bitter rival, Bobby Allison, got in before him. You know Bobby is loving that. Just thinking of the smile he gets when he thinks about that gives me a warm feeling. In conclusion, I don't like Darrell Waltrip. 15. awesomegordonfan posted: 11.20.2010 - 10:42 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) "Darrell and Mikey were in the booth? DW is the BEST COMMENTATOR EVER especially to the Truck Speed guys. And DW would be passed over a third time. But he didn't have as good a career as Allison, who won pretty much all his races after 40 and was a huge threat in 1988 until his crash. DW is probably the best, most lovable legend ever. 16. awesomegordonfan posted: 11.20.2010 - 10:47 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) "Two Waltrips in the booth and another win by a Cup driver. For the first time ever I'm glad the season is over." How are you glad the season is over? Why bother watching? Although NASCAR TV sucks these days, the racing was still as good as it was 10 years ago for the first time, with the double-file restarts and the rear wing. Next year will be even better with no splitter-braces in Cup. And although the Cup wins in Nwide and Truck are a pain, at least Busch might not be in his own truck next year because, as Ray Allen (and ii) said, "The 18 might win the drivers AND owners championship next year", and it's impossible for Kbusch to run in some of the travel tracks like Vegas and Kansas. Oh, and two Waltrips in the booth is better than just Mikey. :) 17. rw posted: 11.20.2010 - 12:10 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Ouch Mike Skinner didn't win a race nor a pole this season! Eric posted: 11.20.2010 - 3:25 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) awesomegordonfan, You got your fact wrong about Bobby Allison concerning winning races over the age of 40. Bobby won 38 out of his 84 Nascar races over the age of 40. Darrell Waltrip isn't the best Commentator ever for Nascar. I started watching Nascar in 1993 as a teenager. I got a list of Nascar commentators that are better than Darrell Waltrip: Here they are: Ned Jarrett Buddy Baker Benny Parsons Bob Jenkins Eli Gold - He used to be a Nascar commentator on television The Nascar Commentators I mentioned announced races for Nascar up to 2000 except for Benny Parsons. The reason those people I mentioned don't do television Commentating after 2000 except for the late Benny Parsons is because the contacts they had the television networks and they couldn't get out of it. Ned Jarrett got old and that is why he doesn't television Commentating. Ned is now 78 years old. 20. WillG_46 posted: 11.20.2010 - 3:27 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Post 15: Are you serious? I'd take any of those guys over DW. 22. irony posted: 11.20.2010 - 8:07 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "How are you glad the season is over? Why bother watching? Just very, very frustrated with the races being won by Cup drivers. It has made it unenjoyable to me. I'm only talking about trucks, my favorite series, which had WAY better racing 10 years ago. Well 2000 kinda sucked but you get the point. As for DW, I find him annoying and his bias for kyle was terrible. 23. Bronco posted: 11.20.2010 - 9:08 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Kyle now has more wins this season in Trucks than in an of his other part time seasons with eight, which accounts for a third of his overall wins in the series. He has more wins than Bodine despite running part time schedules, and next year he'll probably blow by Skinner and Sprague with Truck wins. His success as an owner can be attributed to, among other things, luring away Hornaday and Skinner's crew chiefs from last year. It's disappointing to see my favorite series veteran (Skinner) have such a miserable season. He deserves better. Aric Almirola finishes his second full season in Trucks with the most top tens, and picks up two wins by leading the last 7 laps in each. I was hoping he take the championship from Bodine but he had a great season regardless. Miguel Paludo scores his 2nd top ten in 4 starts for two different owners. Travil Kvapil returns to the trucks for the first time since Nashville in August '09. I'm going to predict Johnny Sauter as being next year's champion. He has totally found his stride in the series. 24. awesomegordonfan posted: 11.21.2010 - 6:26 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) The only reason why Hornaday and Skinner did so bad was because they agreed to work for KBM. If Hornaday and Skinner kept their crew chiefs, they would've probably battled for the championship all season long. I don't watch F1, which sucks, and by DW is the best commentator ever, I have only watched this sport since 2007, and all the commentary has stayed the same except for Marty Reid (I can't stand him) replacing Dr. Punch, with Punch going to pits. 25. DaleSrFanForever posted: 11.21.2010 - 9:04 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) "And DW would be passed over a third time." That's true, but I don't think anyone (except Darrell) expected him to make the first class. I should have clarified that. He was a legitimate choice for the 2nd class (in fact I would have put him in this time based on his pure domination from 1977-1985 and very solid results from 1986-1992 including an outstanding 1989). So I count this as his first "pass over" for the HOF. I', almost positive he'll make it next year. If he doesn't, part of me will be mad because he deserves it as a driver (not as mad as Pearson getting hosed on the first class to make room for the France duo, but still), but I'll also think it is really funny. "I have only watched this sport since 2007, and all the commentary has stayed the same except for Marty Reid (I can't stand him) replacing Dr. Punch, with Punch going to pits." Aw dude, you have missed some GREAT stuff. I recommend going on YouTube and going to battalionfan888 channel. He has a ton of great old races, including a lot from the early 90s when the racing and commentary were first class. Also try to find Racermac1988 (I think that is right) channel. He also has some great old races. And if you wanna watch some stuff from WAY back in the day of NASCAR's earliest nationwide telecasts, go to MotorsportsHistoryTV channel. You won't be disappointed. 26. Dodge posted: 11.21.2010 - 12:54 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Yeah, when ESPN was great, back in the 1990's with their group of onair personalities. But she was 2nd worst among the 16 drivers to run every race (only the moving chicane of terror that is Norm Benning did worse). Despite missing 3 races James Buescher JUST missed finishing in the top 10 in the standings. He could be someone to watch out for in 2011. But congrats to Jason White for finishing 10th. When we add Brian Ickler's, Kasey Kahne's and Johnny Benson Jr.'s points to Kyle Busch, he would win that title by 150 over Todd Bodine. And I assume Kyle would have better finishes than Ickler, so that margin would be most probably bigger. 40.
