He celebrates his big Michigan win and national media proclamation that he is mature now and the Cup favorite by losing his license, sporting a bad hairstyle that makes him look even more like Pee Wee Herman than ever, then melts down again. Just like the NWide race last year, Kyle cut across somebody's hood, got mad because they had the audacity to race the Great Kyle Busch, and dumped them on purpose. He just can't handle it. Then, to make matters worse, in his interview, he brings up Harvick to rekindle that. That should bode well for his Cup championship hopes. With Kyle running all three Series the rest of the way, he will come unglued, again, at some point, and take himself back out of Cup contention. This whole New Kyle thing has been nothing but a front, and he showed that tonight. Michael Waltrip was drunk. I am not kidding. He sucks at commentating anyways, but he was blatently drunk in the booth. Why why WHY is he on the broadcast team? He adds nothing, has nothing insightful to add, and just acts like a moron up there. And he can't even say the words right. 5. " He's called Drunktrip for a reason. As for Kyle, yeah he is a complete tool. The incident with Sadler was just a racing deal and possibly a mistake by Kyle. But Kyle had to act like a baby and take out Sadler for no reason. Major props to Elliott Sadler, he was a total professional in his interview while Kyle looked like a spoiled baby once again. 6. But I thought it was great racing all night, probably some of the best that I've seen since the Bristol reconfiguration. I thought Elliott's interview was extremely classy. But another favorite moment of the night was the two no-name drivers that were pissed at each other towards the beginning of the race. And DSFF, I thought I was the only one who noticed KB's new do. 8. When Sadler and Busch wrecked, I knew Harvick was going to win. Sadly there is only one stand alone event left in the schedule. It's in October at Kentucky. Also really weird race. Sadler's run more truck races this season than Harvick. However people tend not to complain as much about Sadler because he's nowhere near a threat to win like Harvick is. This is Harvick's 3rd straight win, Sadler has yet to finish in the Top 5 since Daytona. Though one could argue he had a winning truck tonight. 20. 18fan posted: 08.25.2011 - 12:22 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Piquet surprised me by qualifying second, went straight backwards, then fought back at the end to an 8th place finish, pretty good overall performance for his first time at Bristol. Honestly I didn't watch most of the race and only saw one angle of the Kyle-Elliott incident, so I can't comment on that. What a shame for Jason White, this is the second time he's held a Cup regular at bay for many laps at Bristol. Remember Jason led the most laps at Bristol in 2008. Timothy Peters and the #17 team are on a roll right now, while the #3 truck is having no luck at all. I see this being a four man point battle going all the way to the end, even though Dillon is almost a full race behind. Another solid run for David Mayhew. He impressed me a few years ago at Irwindale Speedway in the K&N series when he held off Jason Bowles, who is the ultimate master of that track in that series, for a good 2/3 of the race before he faded, but that's when I thought he had a lot of talent. I said before the race that if Hornaday didn't screw up he had a shot to win and he promptly crashed 10 laps into the race. 21. potatosalad48 posted: 08.25.2011 - 12:24 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Looks like Kyle Busch has been hanging out with The Miz and R-Truth, seeing how he's making up and believing all these conspiracy theories. We always have to hear about how wonderful they are and their "career overall NASCAR wins". If I want to watch Kyle Busch be awesome behind the wheel of a racecar, which I do because I'm a fan of his, I want to watch him do it in a Cup race against guys like Jeff Gordon, Jimmie Johnson, Mark Martin, Carl Edwards, Matt Kenseth, Kurt Busch, Tony Stewart, and Kevin Harvick, not race against guys who are either never going to advance past the Truck level, old and past their prime, or don't have the experience level that he does. The same goes for Harvick and Kyle, Brad, Carl, and Logano in the Nationwide series. This has to be one of the best rookie classes in any series of NASCAR since the Cup class of 2006. This truck series rookie class with Whitt, Coulter, Kligerman, Piquet, and Paludo looks like it good produce some good Cup drivers. Hopefully they all get good opportunities to prove themselves in Nationwide, which will be interesting. Without Red Bull in team ownership Whitt might have a hard time finding a ride unless some big time team take a chance on him. Coulter might get hurt by RCR's lack of a Nationwide program, but he could always run for KHI. Kligerman has a pretty secure future with Penske, so I think he's in the best position of all the rookies. Piquet's future with KHI is in limbo, and I'm not sure where Paludo would go, a lot like Whitt and Piquet if he loses his KHI ride. 23. irony posted: 08.25.2011 - 12:50 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Jesse Ventura FTW 24. 18fan posted: 08.25.2011 - 12:54 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I guess the point of my post about the rookie class is that these guys can easily end the stagnation of talent in the Cup series that DSFF and other people talk about a lot on this website. 25. No other driver in NASCAR puts himself in bad situations more than K-Y does. Time after time after time, he's shown that he can race guys one way but if he's raced in the same manner it's a problem. Last night was just another chapter in the book of childish K-Y antics. "This is nothing new amongst race car drivers in any series, and it's not unique to Kyle. His spotter is the one that made a mistake, and it cost Busch." And it would have been nice if K-Y would have waited to see the replay instead of blasting his mouth and talking about conspiracies between Harvick and his employees. "But I also think a lot of you guys must be blind, did you not see the way Harvick and Sadler were racing Busch all night? Wouldn't give the guy an inch. The deal between K-Y and Sadler started when K-Y made a move and cut off Sadler. Elliott didn't like it and actually did something about it by putting the bumper to K-Y a couple times. Again, this is just another example of K-Y being K-Y. It's okay for him to cut off another guy and nearly wreck him, but when the guy repays the favor with a few bumps, it's an issue. 40. Bu-bu-bu-but that would mean taking a rational approach to this situation! How dare you! Obviously what Busch thinks happened was: Harvick and Sadler met before the race, Harvick forced Sadler to wreck Busch or said he was out of a job, then handed him a a bag of cash with a dollar sign on it, and then they both drove away in separate limos to avoid any suspicion. It's a conspiracy man! Don't you see? That's what these fans think Busch was saying. I mean honestly, these people can pull a 5,000 word manifesto out of one sentence sometimes. They must live in a constant state of paranoia. I don't mean to bring common sense into this, but it could be because you very rarely see a driver intentionally wreck someone else for their own mistake. When it happens, I ALWAYS read the uproar on here or any given forum. Of course, this goes against your constant "everyone else is wrong" stance, but oh well. Bottom line: if Kyle just blamed Elliott for his own mistake in an interview without actually intentionally wrecking him, the situation would've blown over. Intentionally wrecking someone after you mess up, however, deserves criticism. 44. hurkadurka posted: 08.25.2011 - 11:36 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) "Kyle Busch is pretty consistent in that regard, he leaves room on the track for you to race him" How is coming up into somebody who's already at your right rear quarterpanel leaving room for others to race? He had neutralized it, refused to add fuel to the fire that Harvick was trying to build because that is what he does. He shrugged off Harvick's barbs, his on track crowding at the first Pocono race, etc. Hell, after Sears Point, he even went over and shook Harvick's hand, which totally psyched Kevin out (a true moment of beauty, I imagine that look on Harvick's face was similar to the one he had in 2002 when Bill France told him to leave Martinsville). Which makes me glad I didn't tune in just to see a Cup regular ruin the race for a Truck regular. After last week, I was pretty much convinced that Kyle had taken the right mature attitude towards winning the championship, but now, if it is true that he brought up Harvick when the feud between them is almost forgotten, I now predict he won't be a factor, just like in previous years. Seriously, he handled the whole aftermath at Darlington with Harvick with total class while Kevin (who is far and away the most frustrating person to deal with in NASCAR) kept shooting off his mouth like a little kid. But the rest of us who can actually think for ourselves and know that every driver has moments of weakness and frustration (yes, even Johnson), and can actually see that Kyle has tried to make a conscious change to his demeanor regardless of incidents like last night, we'll just go back to watching and enjoying racing rather than participating in the same vitriol that you so love to toil in endlessly. In the same way that you complain about the media queuing up the, "Kyle has changed" story, you always have your, "see look, Kyle hasn't changed, it's a facade and I told you so" posts queued up ready to go any time he makes any mistake on the track. You and the media are two sides of the same repetitive coin, endlessly debating the same exact things over and over. 57. It also really hurt the #18 in the owners points, they entered tied with the #2 KHI truck (irony! or coincidence, whichever's right!) for the owners lead but is now 34 points back. And trust me, Kyle would be aware about the owners championship situation. Besides, if Kyle goes out and wins the Cup race this Saturday then who'll care about what happened in a 3rd tier series? The important thing for him is to not let this stuff affect him where it matters the most. Fortunately he'll have a couple days before the Nationwide race to get his mind straight, and hopefully nothing'll happen there. 58. What people have to realize is that there's going to be more hate for the drivers who do it habitually. If Bobby Labonte snaps and is completely out of character, people will hate on that... but almost write it off for a fluke. If you have Kyle nearly replicating the complete lack of class that he displayed last year at Bristol, you're going to have more hate because he never learns from his past mistakes or learns to grow up. Everytime he'd be stuck on the inside and lose 2-3 positions, it was painful to see. And then when he was FINALLY the 2nd driver in the outside, and on nearly every restart they'd end up 2nd, Jason White and Brendan Gaughan run out of fuel and so it stuck Buescher on the inside AGAIN. So instead of getting a likely 2nd place finish and gaining a couple points on Sauter, it's Sauter who got the benficial restart position, slotted into 2nd and gained a couple points on Buescher. Does anyone else think that the 3rd place driver on the 2nd row should also have a choice of where they can restart, inside or outside? anyways, Kevin Harvick gets his 12th career Truck Series win. It's his 9th win in his last 17 starts dating back to 2009 and the 3rd straight year he's had 3 wins. Johnny Sauter picks up his 3rd runner-up finish of the season and 4th top 2 finish. He has only 4 top 10's in the last 8 races but they're all top 4 finishes. Todd Bodine gets the #5 RMM Truck their best finish of the season in 3rd; since the Truck switch (but it's still mostly if not all his #30 Germain team) Todd has a 9.0 avg fin with 1 top 5 and 4 top 10's, while Travis Kvapil had only an 18.8 avg fin with two 10th place finishes in the first 10 races of the season. James Buescher gets his series-leading 14th top 10 of the season (in starting 15 of 16 races), and is now tied with Kyle Busch for the most top 5's this year with 8. He now sports an average finish of 7.7, not even far off of Kyle Busch's 6.8 in 11 starts and 1.7 spots better than championship point leader Johnny Sauter. Timothy Peters picks up his career-high 6th top 5 of the season, after having 5 top 5's in each of the past two seasons. It's his first top 5 in 7 Bristol starts. Joey Coulter is the highest finishing rookie in the race, picking up his 10th top 10 of the season which is good enough for a tie for 2nd with Johnny Sauter and Ron Hornaday Jr. on the season. It's his 8th top 10 in the last 9 races, which included 7 straight top 10's. Both Justin Lofton and Eddie Sharp Racing get their best finish of the season in 7th and just their 2nd top 10 of the season (Lofton with Germain and Goess with ESR were their previous ones). Since rejoining the organization he won the 2009 ARCA championship with, Lofton is 13th in points scored and has gone from 18th to 14th in the standings. Nelson Piquet Jr. picked up his 5th top 10 of the season and 1st in 4 races. Piquet Jr. is now 12th in the points, his season-high, for the 2nd time in the last 3 races. Elliott Sadler won his 2nd career Truck Series pole and the first for Joe Denette Motorsports. Sadler ended up with his 5th top 10 in 7 Truck starts this year, and JDM got just their 4th top 10 of the season (3 with Jason White). Parker Kligerman makes it 3 rookies in the top 10. Seems like that's happened in half the races this year. It's just his 6th top 10 of the season (8th in pts) and 1st in 4 races. David Mayhew's K&N Pro West Series team made just their 5th Truck start, all since 2010 and all with Mayhew behind the wheel. They picked up their best ever finish in 13th, their 4th finish of 16th or better in those starts (17.4 avg fin). Johanna Long gets her 6th top 20 finish in 13 starts this year but just her 2nd top 15 (3 DNF's due to wrecks, 23.4 avg fin). WoO Late Model champ Josh Richards made his 4th Truck start of the season and picked up his first top 20 finish in 17th; the #51 he drove was a 2nd KBM-prepared Toyota, while the #51 at Michigan with Colin Braun was a Billy Ballew Motorsports Ford. 62. In all three divisions, he dominates the telecast unless Danica is in the race. I feel like the only way to ignore him is to quit watching NASCAR altogether. "I actually think if Kyle and Kevin have their feud boil over that Jeff Gordon has as good if not a better chance than Jimmie does to win the title." They definitely have a good chance. I wouldn't be surprised, but they seem to be lacking week in and week out speed that the 48 always has come cha$e time. I think next year will be huge for Jeff and Alan. Somebody on the Michigan Cup page mentioned something I had never thought about. Jeff's second year with crew chiefs have been phenomenal (Loomis in '01, Letarte in '07). "And I agree with those who are saying that, if it had been ANY driver out there but Kyle, there wouldn't be nearly as much venom." That is what happens when you stockpile enemies by doing dumb things week after week after week. Just this year K-Y has pulled the dirtiest move in racing at Darlington (the Earnhardt at Richmond in '86), got caught doing 128 mph in a 45 residential zone and had his drivers license suspended for it, hit one too many of RCR's cars leading to RC, a senior citizen, to go Nolan Ryan on him, and now this. For most people this year would really stand out. For K-Y, it is just another year in the life of the Schrub. "or was I the only one who thought "...the old Bristol might be back!"?" It is still neutered. Sears Point is the new Bristol. "he handled the whole aftermath at Darlington with Harvick with total class while Kevin (who is far and away the most frustrating person to deal with in NASCAR) kept shooting off his mouth like a little kid." Exactly. To me, it looked like all of Kevin's attempts to get under Kyle's skin had failed to the point of flustering Harvick. There is a picture of those two at Sears Point taken right after Kyle walked up and shook Kevin's hand, and Harvick has the funniest look on his face. He is looking at Kyle like "What the hell? You are supposed to hate me!". But we see now Kevin, the real life internet troll, is really far under Kyle's skin. For him to bring up Kevin in that interview after a wreck that didn't involve him or one of his trucks, shows he is thinking about Kevin. It also shows that handshake was probably coached. "But the rest of us who can actually think for ourselves and know that every driver has moments of weakness and frustration (yes, even Johnson), and can actually see that Kyle has tried to make a conscious change to his demeanor regardless of incidents like last night" Moments? How about constants. His "conscious change" has been revealed to be phony and a result of serious coaching by his owner and sponsors. "Besides, if Kyle goes out and wins the Cup race this Saturday then who'll care about what happened in a 3rd tier series?" K-Y will. He lets every disappointment grate at him, and he takes losses in the Trucks and NWide as badly as losses in Cup. This piles up on him throughout the year leading to his annual late season collapse. "There are usually going to be people you dislike, but love for the sport overcomes that." What he said. If I didn't quit watching when Bodine was winning, I won't stop now. "If Bobby Labonte snaps and is completely out of character, people will hate on that... but almost write it off for a fluke. Folks, this is the same Old K-Y. The cha$e hasn't even started and he is already beginning to come unglued. He already has a ton of enemies, and a driver he has to deal with at least twice a week, sometimes 3, completely under his skin. The most talented driver in the sport, somebody who could win the championship every year, somebody who should already have a championship or two like Jeff Gordon did at the same age, is too busy worrying about a pointless fued with somebody who averages less than 2 wins per year in his Cup career. That's not a bad things based on how he's been taking his recent losses in Cup; best car at Pocono but got beat by Keselowski, threw away a win at the Glen but then won at Michigan. Kyle can vent when he's not on the track or screw around in Trucks and NNS as much as he wants, but as long as it's not affecting what he does in his Cup car then it's a non-issue in the big picture. Of course not. Nobody is perfect. Look at my screen name. And look at what I refer to as "the dirtiest move in racing", and look at the example I always give. I don't expect perfection from anyone. But Good Lord, every single year you can count on K-Y being involved in at least 6 or 7 embarrassing moments. Every year. That is worth mentioning, and deserves criticism. Especially when you consider that these are holding him back from his potential as a driver. He is at least as talented as Jeff Gordon, possibly even better. Like Jeff, he entered Cup very young in elite equipment. But wheras Jeff won his first Cup championship the year he turned 24, won 10 races (out of just 30) and came agonizingly close to another the year he turned 25, then won the Daytona 500 en route to another 10 win season and a second championship the year he turned 26, K-Y is lagging way behind Jeff at age 26. And you can blame the constant distractions he causes for that. He should be doing what Gordon did at the same age. Especially when you consider that, in 1993, Jeff's rookie season, he had only run 2 full seasons in stock cars. He only sat in a stock car for the first time in the Fall of 1990 for an ESPN fluff piece. K-Y was running Truck races for Jack Roush in 2001 at age 16, and after NASCAR put in the age requirement, he ran a year of ASA, signed with HMS at age 17 and ran ARCA races in HMS equipment, with a Busch ride ready for him the week he turned 18. "That's quite a corner you've painted him in. Now, anytime he does anything wrong, you can trot out that same hackneyed post of yours." That is a corner he has painted himself into, not me. If he didn't do shit like this at least 5 times per year, it would be ignored. Take, for example, what Burton did to Gordon at Texas last year. I have 3 cardinal rules for my personal expectations of a NASCAR driver: 1) A driver should never pull an Earnhardt at Richmond in '86 2) A driver should never wreck another driver under caution and 3) A driver should never take out their frustrations of a bad season (or seasons) on another driver. Burton broke all 3 of those at once. Although it was very disappointing to see, I basically wrote it off afterwards. Why? Because he is Jeff Burton, somebody with a very clean record. People are indeed allowed to lose their cool and do unprofessional stuff in the heat of the moment. Just not every 4 weeks. "I guess Kyle Busch never should have told the media to write all those stories about him maturing, that's obviously Busch's fault too." Like the other night, the original incident with Sadler was a total racing accident. Nobody except maybe Kyle's spotter was to blame, but Kyle had to go out and take out Sadler for no reason and turn this into a story. I'm not sure why NASCAR didn't throw a caution when they saw him pass pit road and run the bottom of the track at like 30 mph for a lap, it was pretty damn obvious what he was about to do. I hated that interview with ESPN too, to me it seemed like Kyle's excuses for people not liking him. He even made a comment about Kurt being a reason why people don't like him. "Yes Kyle, everyone dislikes you because of your brother." If that quote doesn't yell *SARCASM* I don't know what does. 91. I know Kyle doesn't think people dislike him solely because of Kurt, but it was pointless to even bring that point up and throw Kurt into it. Being Kurt's little brother may have hurt him early on, but if he showed class and respect people would've warmed up to him at some point. 92. In fact, had he shown class, he would have actually had a better shot at being popular in part so people could really stick it to Kurt. 93. racefan31 posted: 08.28.2011 - 10:53 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) If KHI pulls out of the series completely, that cripples, in some way, all of the Chevy teams except Thorsport and RCR. Turner Motorsports = Gets it's bodies hung from/by KHI Joe Denette Motorsports =.....I'm pretty sure they get everything from KHI lol. If they didn't, they'd struggle to be comptitive. Sadler's truck proved that. Turn One Racing = Not sure about them actually. Turner Motorsports broke off their relationship with KHI in Feb. after they couldn't keep up with the number of bodies they needed hung. Now they do all their own in house. Joe Denette gets truck bodies from KHI but not their chassis. Turn One Motorsports used to get rucks from KHI last year, but not anymore. I think you only are going to lose one or two trucks with KHI closing. Nelson will get another ride setup somewhere. Hornaday has already been talking to other teams too. I hate to see only 30 trucks but I would rather have 25-30 good trucks then 36 with 8 start and parks 94. 00andJoe posted: 08.28.2011 - 1:22 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #66 sponsor: National Watermelon Promotion Board/Melon 1 95. 1995z71 posted: 08.31.2011 - 1:28 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I missed the opening parts of the race, what happened Ricky Carmichael? 96.
