Good to see the Cup guys get beat even if it was by strategy. 3. irony posted: 09.02.2011 - 10:46 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I remember now why I'm a race fan, especially of this series that I've become so bored with. A real truck driver won, and there's no guarantee Ron will be back next year so it feels great. Hope Ron gets #50 before the year's over. 4. 18fan posted: 09.02.2011 - 10:59 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I know they are Cup drivers, but some of those restart battles between Kyle and Clint were pretty awesome. I would like to see Ron get win #50, he deserves it. 5. Rusty posted: 09.02.2011 - 11:26 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The race was called the Good Sam 200. Glad to see Bowyer not win the race. But I'm not a Hornaday fan. 6. 00andJoe posted: 09.02.2011 - 11:43 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Race name: Good Sam Club 200 #15 owner: Kyle Busch #17 sponsor: Crescent Tools/icecold4homes.com #20 sponsor: Panhandle Grading & Paving/Paw Paw Powered 7. If Hornaday, Feese, Fontaine, etc. didn't decide to conserve fuel, Kligerman could've had a shot at his first win. Great call by Jeff Hensley to give Ron Hornaday, Jr. his 49th career win. Better then seeing Clint Bowyer, Kyle Busch, or Ryan Newman getting the win (even though I wouldn't of cared if Newman won). 8. murb posted: 09.03.2011 - 12:34 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Cole Whitt seemed to have one of the fastest trucks early in the race, but then he blew up. 9. One bad race from the top 4 such as happened at Kentucky, and this would be one epic championship battle. 11. Not trying to hate here, I hope Buescher can win a race, but stockpiling Top 5's and 10's may be good enough... 13. irony posted: 09.03.2011 - 1:22 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Has anyone had a better year than him? Only a few guys have a win and only Ron has 2 wins. Buescher leads every other important statistic except laps led. As I said a few weeks ago, wins are hard to come by because of the Cup guys. 14. Clint and K-Y did put on a hell of a show for the first 20 or so laps after a restart, but I'm happy Ron beat them. This is simply one hell of a track. "Would a winless champion that missed a race be a good thing for the series or not?" First off, I think him missing a race would be a very compelling story. Secondly, the fact that James isn't a big name, a proven commodity with a big time owner would negate him not winning a race in my opinion. Seeing as how 10 of the 17 races so far have been won by Cup drivers, its not like he has had a ton of opportunites. They still have two more stand alone events for him to possibly win, but given his situation, I don't think it would be the worst thing in the world if he wins the title without winning. But overall, I am really pulling for Steve Turner. His support of the lower Series is a great thing for the sport. I hope James wins this one, and Reed wins NWide. 16. NicoRosbergFan posted: 09.03.2011 - 11:25 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) To me it would be good if Buescher won the title. Think of this: a driver DNQs for the 2nd race of the year and then comes back to win the title for a startup team because of raw talent. This team didn't even have a noteworthy identity until Turner turned (haha) around and bought out the whole Braun team at the beginning of 2010. The next year, he has a title because he didn't necessarily win races, but because his driver week in, week out ran in the top-5 and top-10. Buescher has only 1 ONE non-top-10. He is God's gift to consistent driving. AF88: That is what racing is all about; a driver knows he can't win every race, so he strives to stockpile top-5s and top-10s when he says to himself, "I can't win this, but I'll finish the best I can." That is the tragedy; NASCAR would rather have a champ who wins 10 races, 10 top-5s, and 11 top-10s win the title instead of the guy with 0 or 1 wins, 20 top-5s, and 23 top-10s; that is the racing model from the crew's standpoint. They want to win races as bad as anyone else, but they I think they would rather be consistent and win the whole she-bang instead of trying to win the race and having to work 24/7 just to get the truck to the track in time. 17. 1995z71 posted: 09.03.2011 - 1:10 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "Has anyone had a better year than him?" I have nothing against James Buescher, its actually cool hes the leader minus a race start, but NASCAR did take 24 points & a win from Johnny Sauter. Either this is a great points battle with 1st thur 5th & 6th thur 10th! 18. murb posted: 09.03.2011 - 2:59 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "Would a winless champion that missed a race be a good thing for the series or not?" It's hard to say. But in my eyes, there is absolutely no way that Buescher has been the best of the Truck regulars this year. Johnny Sauter has blown the rest of them away. He's just had some bad luck with the black flag deal at Texas, the penalty at Pocono, and then this race which saw him have tire troubles. So I'm really pulling for Sauter and the 13 team to rally back and take the championship. To me, they've been the best team in the Truck series this year (by far), and I would hate to see them lose it over a few of these stupid things they've had happen. 19. 00andJoe posted: 09.03.2011 - 4:54 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #99 owner: Chris Baluch 20. petty43 posted: 09.03.2011 - 5:35 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) awesome run blake, keep em coming 21. potatosalad48 posted: 09.03.2011 - 5:47 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Ron Hornaday plays pit strategy perfectly and gets his 2nd win of the year and 49th career, despite running 2 seconds slower than teamate Clint Bowyer and Kyle Busch. This is also KHI's 4th consecutive Truck win. Blake Feese gets his career best finish in 4th and Ryan Newman winds up 5th in a tribute car to short track racer Beau Slocumb, who passed away recently. Despite missing a race, James Buescher is now the points leader by 12. 22. 12345Dude posted: 09.03.2011 - 7:39 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) So happy to see Ron win. I was positive a cup guy was going to win. Also if James wins the title without a win, I don't think it's that bad of a thing. I think if he would of made of all of the races, and went winless then it would be a bad thing. Its amazing that he missed a race, and still might win the title. In the old points system, he never would of won the title. 23. irony posted: 09.03.2011 - 10:42 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Sauter's made mistakes, Buescher has not. His Texas restart choke is on him. He had the dominant truck by far. Similar deal at Kentucky where he had the dominant truck and called it junk. I've been calling him Kyle Busch lite. 24. 18fan posted: 09.03.2011 - 10:44 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) And then Sauter broke his dominant truck at Kentucky leaving the pits. 25. 00andJoe posted: 09.06.2011 - 4:53 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Hm. They've performed the best, but being the best means not screwing themselves out of good finishes every other race and that's exactly what they've done. Ever since the DNQ and the 35th at Martinsville, James Buescher has really been in a class of his own and racing like he actually WANTS the championship. Also, don't forget he dominated IRP but got beat by Timothy Peters at the end who had far better tires. speaking of whom, Peters is the guy I'd like to see win the championship because IMO he's the one that NEEDS it the most. Buescher's set at Turner and will get bumped up to NNS soon if not next year, Sauter's set at Thorsport which is one of the most stable Truck teams out there, and Austin Dillon's set for life at RCR. The #17 Red Horse Racing truck's been unsponsored for a number of races yet Peters has them competing for a championship. Not only could it help them get sponsorship, but it might help Peters move up or at least stay in the Trucks in competitive equipment. Unless you buy into the Truck championship curse, then Peters needs to stay as far away from the championship as possible. lol 27. Clint Bowyer has a win and three 2nd's in 4 starts this season. Kyle Busch bounced back from back-to-back DNF's with a 3rd place finish, his 9th top 5 in 12 starts this year. Former Hendrick developmental driver Blake Feese used fuel mileage to get his best career NASCAR finish in 4th. His previous best was 12th at Nashville in the Trucks in 2009 (best of 24th in 13 NNS starts). Ricky Carmichael won his first career Truck Series pole; he finished in the top 10 for just the 4th time this season and has yet to get a top 5 (3 top 5's, 9 top 10's in 2010). 28. 12345Dude posted: 09.06.2011 - 10:34 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) "So I'm really pulling for Sauter and the 13 team to rally back and take the championship. He is the Kurt Busch of the Truck Series. He treats his crew worse then dog shit. Also, I also think Johnny Sauter will win the title. Hes just had some bad luck. 29.
