Someone needs to punch that liar square in his blotchy, bald, egg-shaped head. He drove one of the dirtiest races I've ever seen, and his post-race interview was the smuggest collection of outright lies I've seen this side of a politician. He adds nothing to this series, and he should be ashamed of himself. But he's a Bodine, so I'm sure he's not. 6. potatosalad48 posted: 10.29.2011 - 6:00 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) What a wreckfest, even after the checkered flag. 7. ch posted: 10.29.2011 - 6:07 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #4, Carmichael just blew a tire and that sent him into the wall... 8. Harvick and Denny don't race that much in the trucks, so its fine with me. I still think hornaday and buescher have a shot at the title. Dillion is obviously the favorite. I know this was a long time ago. But what are everyone's thoughts on the whole Brendan Gaughan getting 'screwed' of the 2003 truck title. I was reading up on this. I guess Jack Smith has 2 cars at the race track each week. He has 5 that week. And at the time Brendan Gaughan was the points leader. One of Jack Smith's cars wrecked Brendan Gaughan really hard. Did Jack Smith really do that? Why didn't nascar take any action? I just can't believe someone would do that. If anyone has any information on it, let me know. I'm very interested. Randy Moss Motersports is finally Randy Moss Motersports, not David Dollar Motersports. David is gone from the company. And Randy Moss is in complete charge. Its going to be announced in a week or two, that Jack Sprague will run for the team full time in 2012. I guess we will finally see if Jack Sprague's equipment won those truck titles, or if he did. Also Johnny Benson is coming back for Stacy Compton's team. Because I don't have access to a time machine I'll accept the two visits that NASCAR gives us. So much action, so much excitement. These trucks belong on the half miles, like tough trucks should be. So many pissed off drivers, not enough time to discuss them all. The Onion lived up to his nickname as he made many drivers cry today. Bravo Todd, Bravo. 14. In my opinion, I think it was just a coincidence. The reason he had 5 trucks, was that automatically guaranteed his driver 5 positions they could count on if they needed them. At that time NASCAR didn't have a rule for maximum amount of cars an owner could have, so Jimmy Smith took advantage of his pocket book and inventory. In the end, he still lost the championship (In the most heart breaking of situations), so Karma and/or God really stopped the Gaughan incident from being a big controversy. 15. irony posted: 10.29.2011 - 8:31 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) God? Beyond that its hard to say since several Cup drivers have never made a Truck start and Truck guys that have raced in Cup before never raced with good enough teams. There could easily have been 20 cautions today if NASCAR had thrown the yellow every time a truck spun, thankfully they gave the trucks time to turn around. 31. Racing-Reference started as a NASCAR site sometime in the mid-2000s, F1 and IndyCar weren't added until 2009 and as such most of the site's users are NASCAR fans or Americans. 2. F1 races don't air at normal hours a lot of the time in the USA. European races tend to be on early morning, on Sundays at that when people sleep in or go to church, and Australian and Asian rounds take place in what for us is the middle of the night. Only the Canadian, Brazilian and upcoming American rounds air at reasonably hours. F1 races reair in the afternoon at normal hours the day they run but those frequently get outshined by live NASCAR or IndyCar races going on at the same time. A lot of guys don't post on races they haven't seen. 3. You mention the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series, which does road race a lot, but while its NASCAR it doesn't air its races in the United States and it sometimes take a bit for races to show up on YouTube so few Americans have seen the races. Their TV deal is with TSN, which is basically a Canadian-exclusive ESPN-type channel. 37. Biscuits in a Red Bull posted: 10.31.2011 - 3:57 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) @36 - Explain IndyCars then. Much better than all NASCAR forms in the US put together. 38. RaceFanX posted: 10.31.2011 - 5:27 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) That's an opinion Biscuits but a lot of US fans no longer like big time open wheel for political reasons. IndyCar was indeed much more popular than NASCAR until the mid-1990s when the infamous CART/IRL split divided the sport and its fanbase causing many to just basically say "forget this" and go watch NASCAR instead while the rest fought amongst themselves. While IndyCar reunited it took far too long (12 years) and wasn't a happy reunion (CART went bankrupt, the IRL bought what was left). Plus by that point most of Indy's big name star talents like Michael Andretti, Al Unser Jr. and Emerson Fittipaldi were long retired and because of the split's damage the new talent that replaced them never became popular because the sport itself wasn't popular (the lack of strong American talent for a basically domestic United States series didn't help either). During 2011 thanks to media hype and marketing only Danica Patrick was a household name and with her moving on will have to see what awaits Indy in the future. Despite the sport's dying popularity (most of their cable races are now on Versus, a channel that isn't exactly popular) the Indy 500 remains very popular but in "it's a big event so I'll watch" way like the Kentucky Derby of the equally dying horse racing. 39. Ron Hornaday picks up his 7th consecutive top 10, his 5th straight top 5 and 4th straight top 2 finish. In these last 7 races he's gone from 9th in the standings and 68 points out to 3rd and just 15 out. Austin Dillon made his 50th Truck Series start, picking up his 16th career top 5 and 30th top 10. It's his first top 5 in the 3 races since his 3 straight top 2 finishes, and it's his first top 5 at Martinsville. Johnny Sauter reaches 10 top 5's for a 2nd straight season, his 3rd in the last 5 races. Joey Coulter was the highest finishing rookie in the race in 5th; his 4 top 5's (with Piquet Jr. and Kligerman) and 11 top 10's (with Whitt) are both tied for the most by a rookie this season, but he now holds just a 4 point lead over Whitt in the ROTY standings with Piquet Jr. 9 points out. Kevin Harvick finishes outside of the top 5 for just the 2nd time in his last 22 Truck Series starts. Cale Gale finished a Truck Series career-best 7th, just his 2nd top 10 in 10 starts in the series. Timothy Peters hasn't had back-to-back top 10's since Michigan and Bristol back in August. Brendan Gaughan finishes in the top 10 for a season-best 3rd straight race, after having no back-to-back top 10's in the first 20 races of the season. James Buescher picked up his series-leading 19th top 10 of 2011 (in 22 starts). Just one more top 10 would ensure he finishes the season with the most, and would make him the only driver in 2011 to reach 20. Matt Crafton earned his 6th career Truck Series pole, 5 of them coming in the last 3 seasons; his 2nd place finish at Vegas is his only top 10 in the last 4 races. USAR (formerly Hooters) Pro Cup Series driver Jeff Agnew finished a career-best 14th (in 3 Truck starts, all this season). 40. irony posted: 10.31.2011 - 11:19 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The Truck Series back in the day before Cup tracks on the schedule and Cup drivers in the field was far more entertaining than anything open wheel has to offer. Turning right and left does not require more skill than turning only left. With that said, the ideal series has the right balance of road courses and ovals. IndyCar routinely puts on a better oval race than NASCAR and a better road race than F1. It's lack of popularity comes down to narrow minds. 41.
