Great battle for second, however between Ty Dillon, Brad Keselowski, and Matt Crafton, who had the only truck that even had the speed to race with Buescher. And a great run by Chip Ganassi Racing development driver Kyle Larson, who like Dillon, had to go to the back before the start. Even so, he raced between the 9th-12th position the entire second half of the race, and despite an altercation with Cale Gale, finished a very impressive 10th in his Truck Series debut. And one question, who exactly was Tony Stewart's Cup championship-winning pit crew pitting for in this race, because we saw some members of that pit crew, but didn't know what pit truck they were pitting for. 2. 10andJoe posted: 06.28.2012 - 11:04 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #09 sponsor: RAB Racing (hood and quarter panels bare) #2 sponsor: Applebee's Thank You Movement #17 sponsor: Toyota #27 sponsor: Boggy Creek Airboat Rides #29 sponsor: Draw-Tite/Mopar #75 sponsor: Lay's/Food Country USA #86 sponsor: @ClayGreenfield 3. 10andJoe posted: 06.28.2012 - 11:06 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) cjs - I saw an Office Depot firesuit among Justin Lofton's crewmembers... ==== Riggs and Setzer S&P'd. Falk intended to run the full distance but wrecked his truck at the end of practice #2; he borrowed a backup truck (apparently from B.J. McLeod's team, judging by the sponsor logos) to start the race and keep Hillman locked in. Chastain done blow'd up but was running strong before that. 4. cjs3872 posted: 06.28.2012 - 11:10 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Okay, 10andJoe. I didn't know who Tony Stewart's team was pitting (and there was more than one member of that crew on the team in question). Thanks for answering that. Of course, being that it was Lofton, it didn't matter, since he and Todd Bodine got together not long after those pit stops, taking themselves and Nelson Piquet, Jr., who seemed to be minding own business, out with them. 5. That great moment didn't carry over into the race though as Silas spent the day rather ill, he said possibly from something he eat, and eventually had to turn the #99 Advantage / Rockingham Speedway Ford over to relief driver Ross Chastain, who had already retired his #08 Toyota with a blown engine. 6. 10andJoe posted: 06.28.2012 - 11:27 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) #0 sponsor: Obregon Construction/Driven2Honor 7. murb posted: 06.28.2012 - 11:41 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I didn't see much of this because I was flipping back and forth between this, the Xgames, and the NBA Draft, but from what I saw it looked like a great race. I think if Buescher gets another win or two, he'll just cruise on to the championship. This Turner Motorsports team is going to become a force to be reckoned with in all series of Nascar in the forseeable future. Great runs by Ty Dillon and Kyle Larson from the back. 8. His restarts in this race were fantastic, particularly the final one. Considering that restarts were a major problem of his last year, he seems to be adapting to them very well now. It's so nice to be cheering for someone who wins races, for a change. 9. Billy Bad Butt posted: 06.29.2012 - 12:04 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I hope James Buescher wins the championship this year. Especially after the consistency he showed last year. 10. myothercarisanM535i posted: 06.29.2012 - 12:08 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Echoing previous comments here, I'm really pulling for Buescher to get home for the Championship this year. I took a liking to him last year and his performances so far this season have cemented that even further. 11. Coming into tonight, Buescher would be 3rd in points, 20 points back and ahead of Stenhouse Jr. if he were running the full Nationwide season. Stenhouse, Dillon and Sadler not doing so hot at Road America while Buescher skipped it helped him out there, he was 4th and 28 points back prior to RA. that suuuuuucked for Piquet, nobody would've had anything for Buescher but he probably could've gotten a top 3 finish and stayed in the hunt for the championship. But now he's 9th, 57 points out against guys who're either finishing top 10 every race or someone like Buescher who could win a half-dozen races this year. Now this is going to be at least a 4 driver battle for the championship. Kligerman isn't running well enough even though he's 5th in points, and Crafton would need to win races which is the one thing he's never been able to do in his Truck career. At least in bunches, just 1 win isn't going to do it. 17. Rusty posted: 06.29.2012 - 5:10 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) They should move this weekend's events back a day. Thursday night isn't a good time to have a NASCAR race, and I don't see why Kentucky needs to have a Saturday night race. But I'm one of the few people who wants less night races in NASCAR. 18. He led a career-high 119 laps, the 2nd time he's led 100+ in a race and both have led to his two Truck wins this season. This improves Buescher's 2012 numbers between NNS and Trucks to 19 starts, 3 wins, 6 top 5's, 11 top 10's and an 8.8 average finish. Brad Keselowski finishes 2nd for a 2nd straight Truck start, and for the 3rd time in his career. Of Brad Keselowski Racing's 9 top 5's in 54 Truck starts, 6 are runner-up finishes with BraKes and Parker Kligerman splitting them evenly at 3 apiece. Ty Dillon was the highest finishing rookie of the race in 3rd, his 2nd top 5 of the season. Dillon's now the only driver this year to have top 10's in the first 8 races, and has 10 in 11 career starts (7.4 avg fin), all in a row dating back to last season. Matt Crafton earned his 7th career Truck Series pole, all coming in the last 4 seasons after just 1 in his first 8. After just 1 top 5 in the first 6 races of the season, Crafton has top 5's in back-to-back races and 3 straight top 10's which have lifted him from 11th to 6th in the standings. Timothy Peters picked up his series-leading 5th top 5 of 2012 to retake the lead in the points standings from Justin Lofton. But it's his first top 5 in 4 races, after starting the season with 4 straight. After just 1 top 10 in the first 6 races of the season (21.7 avg fin), Johnny Sauter has back-to-back top 10's and is now a season-high 13th in points. Joey Coulter has back-to-back top 10's for the first time this season, but has 4 in the last 6 (8.0 avg fin) to go from 24th to 7th in the standings. Jason Leffler has top 10's in 3 consecutive starts, after just 1 in his first 4 starts of the season. Ron Hornaday picks up just his 3rd top 10 of the season, and the 10th for Joe Dennette Motorsports in 44 Truck starts. Kyle Larson finishes in the top 10 in his Truck Series debut. He's currently the top rookie in the K&N Pro East Series this year, with 1 win, 3 top 5's and 6 top 10's in 7 races to sit 3rd in points, just 8 points out of the lead. 19. cjs3872 posted: 06.29.2012 - 6:47 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Rusty, it's obvious why the races at Kentucky have to be run at night, if they're going to be run this time of year, and you'd be seeing it this week. The temperatures are absolutely unbearable, and could actually be deadly (fans and drivers have actually been severely injured or even killed by heat-related injuries). Sure it's still going to be extremely warm when the races are run, but at least those there can bear it. Had they run in the afternoon this weekend, the air temperature would probably have been around 100-105, with the in-car temps around 150-160, and the safety of all particiants would have been a significant issue. No, they did the right thing by scheduling these events to finish at night. 20. With the races he's run, he'd be eighth in points right now, with 391 points. If you assume that he'd do as well as the #30 actually did in the races where he wasn't running (a dangerous assumption to make), then yes, he'd be running third in points. But considering that he's never run a road course before, I highly doubt he'd have done as well as Piquet. On the other hand, he probably would have done better at Iowa than Arpin did, so as long as he kept his nose clean at RA (easier said than done), it might have come out to about the same point total. But yes, it would be interesting to see how he'd do running both series full-time. Hopefully this extra seat time gives him a leg up for next season. 21. Including this past weekend's Nationwide race where he finished 10th, James Buescher (if he were collecting Nationwide points) has averaged 35.417 points per race. If he ran every race that'd put him at 531 points, tied with Ricky Stenhouse Jr. for 3rd and 21 points back of the lead. The #30's had 535 points, so your assessment's pretty spot on there. They're 5th in the owners, since the #18 and #33's ahead of them. Also, James Buescher's 2012 NASCAR numbers after the Nationwide race: 20 starts, 3 wins, 6 top 5's, 12 top 10's, 8.86 average finish. 22.
