Those guys have speed and consistency and nobody else has that. Piquet might have the most speed outside of Peters and Buescher but he's too far behind and too inconsistent. And I just don't see Dillon or Lofton making up significant ground without Peters and Buescher having problems because they don't have the speed to consistently fight for the win. 8. cjs3872 posted: 08.22.2012 - 11:16 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) This was the first race in the Truck series with pit stops that one driver has led every lap in. The last time that a driver led every lap in a Truck series race was Ron Hornaday, Jr. in Louisville, way back in 1997, 15 years ago. But back then, they still had the halftime break. But I'm more concerned about how the race finished. With Ty Dillon's truck lifeless next to the pit wall, NASCAR let the race go gren, instead of throwing the caution flag, which they should have done. Now nobody spun into Dillon, so NASCAR got away with one there, but given what's happened the last two weeks in the Cup series withthe race finishing on an oiled-down track at Watkins Glen and Mark Martin's horrendous crash last Sunday at Michigan (which was a freak accident that probably couldn't be repeated if the drivers tried to replicate it), and now this, NASCAR's really testing fate, and one of these days, someone's going to get hurt. What if someone would've spun into Dillon's truck? Then what would have been the outcry? I think that NASCAR needs to do something about those that are calling these races, because someone's going to get hurt as long as NASCAR makes these idiotic judgements. Again, they got away with one tonight, but if someone would have crashed into Dillon, it could have been disastrous. Need I again bring up the crash late in the 1971 Indianapolis 500 when two cars crashed into three stalled cars? Nobody was in the cars that were hit, but imagine someone crashing into a stalled of lifeless car WITH the driver inside? Well, that very thing could have happened tonight, and almost did happen at Loudon in the fall race there in 2003, which caused the end of racing back to the caution (which was LONG overdue). NASCAR needs people in the tower that know how to call races, and know when to call for a caution and whwen not to. 9. I like him a lot. He's very Terry Labonte-ish but at the same time, he wins a good share of races, especially this year with this being win #2. James Buescher is gonna have to be more consistent if he wants a better shot at it. It will be interesting once they get to more of the 1.5 milers like Atlanta and Texas, which have been the backbone of Buescher's success this year. But I expect it to come down to those two guys. I guess Ty still has a little bit of a shot, but I don't see it happening. He'll probably win a race before the year is over, but they aren't a championship team. I'm an RCR fan (although they're really starting to lose me - Burton and Harvick are the only reasons I like them still), but for some reason the Dillons are really starting to get on my nerves. It's really Austin more than it is Ty, but I don't know. I love Joey Coulter though. Hopefully he can get another win before the year is out. 17. The crashes at Kentucky and Pocono were his fault (never mind that he tried to pin the blame on someone else) but the rest were just bad luck. First time that Peters wins more than one race in a season. 4 of his 5 wins have come on short tracks, with the lone exception being his upset win at Daytona in 2010. Second 1-2 finish of the year for RHR, after Daytona. 18. He did a great job -- Chastain followed in Jason White's shoes from Michigan last week, as he earned his best career finish (second), as well. I have a feeling that Peters is gonna win the title this season. Buescher has GOT to be more consistent if he wants to win. Ty Dillon needs to win a race or two if he really wants a good shot. I doubt Justin Lofton will win the title. Parker Kligerman, 31 points back, definitely has a shot -- watch out for him. He will win a race or two before the season ends. The series needs to take notice of his talent and ability -- Kligerman finished second tonight and fifth last weekend at Michigan in his first two races with Red Horse. 19. The only reason KBM is putting him in the #18 for a few races. As for the race, meh. I'm glad it went by fast, it wasn't a snoozer, but it wasn't exciting or anything either. The only thing I'll remember is that Timothy Peters led all 204 laps. Also, I'll say it for the 3rd truck race thread in a row. BKR is stupid for firing Parker Kligerman, he did the best he could with that equipment. It is a good move for him actually, he seemed to have upgraded equipment and I expect his 1st win to come before the season is out. 37. Talon64 posted: 08.23.2012 - 5:19 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Timothy Peters picks up his 5th career Camping World Truck Series win, and has multiple wins in a season for the first time in his career thanks to his 2nd win of 2012. Peters also sets a new career-high in top 5's in a season with 8 in 13 races (previous best was 7 in 25 races last season). It's also his 4th consecutive season with 10+ top 10's, and his 51 top 10's in that span rank 3rd among all drivers. Red Horse Racing pick up their 4th win of the season, and their 2nd 1-2 (King & Peters at Daytona). RHR had never had more than 1 win in a season prior to 2012. Now RHR and Turner Motorsports have combined to win 9 of 13 races this year. Parker Kligerman's runner-up makes it 4 of his 8 career top 5's in the Trucks that are 2nd place finishes. Kligerman extends his career-best top 10 streak to 5 in a row (most points scored over that stretch), and his 9 top 10's this year surpasses his total from his 2011 rookie season. In the two races since Kligerman left BKR and joined RHR, Kligerman's outscored the #29 83-56. Ross Chastain's the highest finishing rookie of the race in 3rd, his 1st career top 5 and the 2nd straight race that a rookie's finished 3rd for their first top 5 (Dakoda Armstrong at Michigan). It's his 3rd top 10 of the year but 2nd in the last 3 races. Chastain's suffered 3 engine failures this season and is 16th in points, but without them (based on points per race) he'd be 12th in the standings. After just 1 top 5 in the first 10 races of the season, Joey Coulter now has 2 in the last 3 races (including his Pocono win), and has 6 top 10's in the last 7 races. Coulter's sitting 7th in points, which is where he finished in his rookie season last year, but both his avg start (8.7 in 2012 vs. 11.4 in 2011) and avg fin (10.1 vs. 12.4) are better. Brendan Gaughan gets his 3rd top 5 in 5 starts in the #2 RCR Truck this season. That's already the most top 5's he's had in a Truck season since he had 3 in 25 races in 2007. Ryan Blaney's the first driver to finish in the top 10 in both their Nationwide and Truck debuts in the same season since Denny Hamlin in 2004. It's his 3rd top 10 in 6 starts in 2012 between NNS and Trucks (18.0 avg fin). James Buescher sets a new season-high with his 4th straight top 10 finish (4th to 2nd in pts in that span). Ron Hornaday picks up just his 6th top 10 of the season. His career-low for top 10's in a season is 12 (2006), and he's on pace for just 10 in 2012. Matt Crafton becomes the 5th driver to reach 150 career top 10's in the Truck Series (285 starts, 52.6%). It's his 7th top 10 in the last 8 races. Since starting the season with 7 straight top 10 finishes (6.3 avg fin), Justin Lofton has just 3 in the last 6 races (11.8 avg fin). However, he does join Timothy Peters as the 2nd and 3rd drivers to 10 top 10's this season (previous career-high was 8 in his 2010 rookie season). Ryan Sieg gets his best finish of the season in 12th, while BJ McLeod gets his best finish in 10 career Truck starts in 15th. 38.
