Hope to see him full-time in either Trucks or Nationwide next year. 3. This is the first victory for RAM as a brand in the Camping World Truck series. The last win for a Dodge in the series, before Mopar rebranded its truck lineup as RAMs, was by Dennis Setzer at Martinsville all the way back in late March 2008. It's the first win for any brand other than Chevrolet or Toyota since Colin Braun won at MIS in June 2009 driving a Ford. 8. 10andJoe posted: 09.16.2012 - 12:37 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) #6: The correct term, as popularised by Eli Gold, is 'the French driver, Pierre DeBris'. 9. He did a great job with the restarts late in the race to hold off all challengers. Jeff Choquette finishes 8th in just his 2nd Truck Series start. 10. He led over half the laps, and from the race report was running fourth when he blew a right rear tire and looped it 21 laps from the finish. Then, to see the truck he left win the race? That's just salt in the wound. He'll get one before the year is out. Wish it could be at Loudon next week! 11. The future of NASCAR has arrived! Guys like Blaney, Darrell Wallace Jr., the Dillon brothers, Johanna Long, Ross Chastain, Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, Corey LaJoie, Ryan Truex, Jeff Choquette, Drew Herring...the list goes on. These guys are actually getting good results too, that's the thing. Didn't get to see much of this race because I was mostly concentrating on the IndyCar race, but the ending was wild in both races. 14. Robert Nelson posted: 09.16.2012 - 9:13 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Didn't see any of the race, due to both Indycar and the Camping World Trucks Series only being broadcasted on one channel in Australia (Speed Aus). Congratualtions to Blaney. I picked Ty Dillon to win the championship back in December, so far I'm looking good. 15. Jeff posted: 09.16.2012 - 9:57 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) @Dave#38Fan, I know they won't be at Loudon next weekend; I'm just wishing they were still on the schedule! To be fair, last year's race was a snoozer from the stands, though at least the year before, James Buescher made it a little interesting at the end. I wasn't super-surprised the race disappeared, since for the last two years, it's been cut back to a 175-lap event. I didn't think attendance was a problem, at least from my view of the stands; this year I can only imagine it won't be near what they pulled in with the Trucks. It should be - the K&N, Modified and ACT teams put on the best races of the year, bar none, but the average fan has no idea who Ryan Preece or Brian Hoar are. But don't get me wrong, I would LOVE to be proved wrong on Saturday! 17. murb posted: 09.16.2012 - 1:23 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Fantastic job by Ryan Blaney in this race. He's only a little over a year older than me, so it's really cool to see. Shame for Parker Kligerman though. But he's been looking good ever since he moved to Red Horse, so hopefully he can get one before the year is over. I really hope Timothy can get back in the driver's seat of this championship. Ty has a had a good year, but there is no way that it has been a championship year. I think Timothy is a lot more deserving of it just because it seems like he has been there all year. And he has two wins to Ty's win. Buescher could get back in it, but he is just way too streaky, so I'm not sure I see it happening. 18. ch posted: 09.16.2012 - 1:28 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Blaney looks like he is planning on running for ROTY in Nationwide next year. He switched points to the trucks since he will be making 8 NNS starts, that way he keeps his eligibility. I see him running part time in the 29 truck, but full time in the NNS for Penske and TBR. With Logano heading to Penske, he will probably run 8-10 races in the NNS, Keselowski said he would be cutting down next year so probably 5-7 for him. That would leave about 20 for Blaney in the 22. Then he could fill out the season with TBR! Or maybe, Penske could run Blaney full time with the cup guys splitting a 3rd car? Who knows, but I am sure that Roger will not let this kid go! 19. 18fan posted: 09.16.2012 - 1:34 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Red Horse Racing seems to have their short track program down. Outside of Martinsville, Peters won Iowa the first time, he led every lap at Bristol, and Kligerman dominated Iowa this time. 20. cjs3872 posted: 09.16.2012 - 1:40 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) And to add to that, Todd Bodine had a real chance to win in Red Horse Racing's other truck, and he's never been that good in the Truck Series on short tracks. Of course, he's about a decade older than the two that finished in front of him are...put together. 21. Dave #38 Fan posted: 09.16.2012 - 2:42 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) i think in 2013 blaney will run full-time trucks and a handful of nationwide races between penske and tbr. keselowski will probably run 12-15 nns races and 10-12 for logano, and hornish is planned to be full-time in their other nns car. of course, if penske was smart brad and sam would be the full-time cup guys, blaney would be full-time nns in one car, and keselowski and someone like kenny wallace would split the second nns car. 22. PK lost it when his crew-chief desided to stay out while Blaney pitted under caution. I rarely agree with Mikey Waltrip but he was spot on: huge mistake by #7 team. Parker did outstanding job, it's a shame he wasn't able to finish at least in top-5. 23. 10andJoe posted: 09.16.2012 - 5:40 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Trucks at Iowa. Dillon has been there all year, although it's mostly because he's been a top 10 machine. But if these last two races are an indication that he's stepping up to the level of Peters and Buescher and he can hold on to the consistency, then it'll be pretty tough to beat him. 28. Talon64 posted: 09.17.2012 - 6:41 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) In just his 3rd career start, Ryan Blaney picks up his 1st career Camping World Truck Series victory and becomes the youngest winner in series history (18 years, 8 months). It's also the first win for Brad Keselowski Racing, after 6 runner-up finishes between BraKes (3) and former driver Parker Kligerman (3). He's the 12th different winner in 15 races this season, 7 of them being 1st time winners. Ryan is now tied with his father Dave Blaney in national touring series wins; Dave's lone win was in Nationwide at Charlotte in 2006 and it took him 9 years to do it. Ryan now has a 13.6 average finish in 10 starts this season between Nationwide and Trucks (1 win, 1 top 5, 6 top 10's). Ty Dillon finishes in the top 2 for a 2nd consecutive race. It's his series-leading 13th top 10 of the season, and although he has just 4 top 5's this season they're all podium finishes (3rd behind Buescher with 7 and Peters with 5). In the 8 races following his win at Dover, Todd Bodine had just 2 top 20 finishes and a 23.75 average finish to fall from 6th to 14th in the standings. But now Todd finally has his 4th top 5 finish of 2012. Johnny Sauter had gone 5 races without a top 10 (16.6 avg fin) before getting his 4th top 5 of the season. He's now just 10 points back of 9th in the standings. Cale Gale ties his career-best Truck Series finish in 5th, just his 2nd top 5 and 4th top 10 of the season (1st top 10 in 5 races). Nelson Piquet Jr. has now reached 10 top 10's in each of his first two full seasons in the Trucks (14.1 avg fin in 2011, 11.8 in 2012). Drew Herring leads 19 laps and finishes 7th in his Truck Series debut. In 5 starts since last season between Nationwide and Trucks, Herring has 3 top 10's and a 9.0 average finish. Jeff Choquette backs up a 12th place finish in his 1st career Truck start in the 1st Iowa race this season to a top 10 in just his 2nd career start in the 2nd Iowa race. Matt Crafton now has 10+ top 10's in 11 of his 12 seasons in Trucks, including each of the last 10; he leads the series in top 10's since 2001 with 151 (8th in top 10 % at .5280). Miguel Paludo picks up just his 3rd top 10 of the season, all 10th place finishes (but has 2 in the last 4 races). However, he has 14 consecutive finishes of 17th or better since finishing 30th at Daytona. Since having just 3 top 20 finishes in the first 8 races of the season, Ross Chastian has 7 straight top 20 finishes (1 top 5, 2 top 10's, 10th in points scored over that stretch). 29.
