NASCAR wont step in most likely until it is proven he did it. right now from everything that i have seen so far about this, first she has to prove she owns the hauler that is still under dispute, somebody cant steal it from her if she does not own it to start with. 6. 83andJoe posted: 05.17.2013 - 6:02 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Cobb did have a borrowed truck that she practiced on Thursday. 7. Before he broke his neck at Pocono in 1980,he was 2nd in the points less than 50 behind Big E,and it was never the same for Petty after that. 1987 was his last real hurrah,at 50 years old, when he finished 3rd in the Daytona 500 and both Darlington event's too and finished 8th in the final standings. 29. Scott Riggs sneaked on by and Ryan Blaney got relatively minor damage for being squeezed into the wall, but Jake Crum was the biggest loser in that crash as he plowed right into the back of Hornaday. Hate to see those small, part-time teams suffer that much damage when they make their NASCAR appearances. I doubt Crum will be bringing that truck back any time soon. 30. It was great to see Kyle Busch actually RACE tonight with HIS team and not ride around in the Paradetionwide Series with Sadler in tow after Vickers crashed out. So long as Cup drivers are racing in their own equipment or for non-elite teams in the lower series, they won't get any complaints from me. Career best finish for Max Gresham tonight. Great job for both he and his ESR teammate Justin Lofton on their respective top ten finishes in this race. Lofton just beat out Scott Riggs for the 10th position. Ross Chastain was driving the wheels off that truck in the closing laps, even hitting the wall coming off turn 4 on the final lap while trying to pass JWT for 8th place. Gotta love that he was going for it, even though points don't matter to him this season. Along with Gresham, Townley, Chastain, and Riggs, solid runs tonight for Dakoda Armstrong, Ryan Sieg, Blake Koch, and Danny Efland as well. For Koch and Efland to each finish in the top 20 and only one lap down for small, part-time Truck teams is pretty impressive. After Sauter's wreck, Matt Crafton opens up his points lead by a very big margin going into the next race, as he now has a 22-point lead over Jeb Burton. Sauter drops four positions all the way back to 6th place (first time outside the top two all season), with a pair of Turner and RCR trucks in between he and his teammate Crafton. Very exciting race overall. These trucks proved that it's not the track that sucks, as there was close side-by-side racing throughout the event. I was hoping either Paludo could have held Kyle off, or that Gaughan could have run Kyle down in the closing laps, but not even a Cup driver winning this race could disappoint me about this race. The Trucks are the best damn series in NASCAR. Period. I say the top three series should swap schedules. Give Nationwide the Trucks schedule, give Cup the Nationwide schedule, and give the Trucks the Cup schedule. I can watch these guys every damn week and never feel letdown or disappointed by the end result. 51. He almost wrecked Scott Riggs on a restart by making it 3-wide and drifting up into Riggs in the corner. A lot of drivers tonight would get squirrelly if they were in the middle of a 3-wide, but Brad was getting out of shape while on the inside of such a predicament. The truck series is amazing. Big reason for that is the races are so much shorter. Cup would be 10 billion times better if the races were 260-300 miles per race. There trying to get casual fans and a casual fan isn't going to say "Ok I'm going to spend 4 hours and 40 minutes of my Sunday to watch a race". No they just watch the end. Shorter races = way better racing = way better tv ratings = better I think NASCAR wants the races to be shorter. But they don't want less people going to the race because instead of watching 500 miles last year they can only watch 300 this year. That's why I think the new cars are so fast. The races go by a lot faster but the length of the races stay the same. Kind of like tricking the fan. Also, I'm getting sick and tired of drivers taking out other drivers and costing them major points. That wreck could of cost Sauter the title. It just seems like it's every other week someone is purposely wrecking someone else for no reason. Either that or some driver is complaining another driver is racing them too hard. Probably wants to get his first career truck series win and check that off the list... plus his team isn't the most competitive thing in the truck series, and he wants to change that. Getting a Cup series champion in the thing to break it down isn't a bad thing. He only ran 6 truck races last year which is his most in a year since 2005. The Nationwide thing is mostly about Discount Tire, but to his credit, he's starting to run far less races. Remember, last year was only his 3rd full time year in Cup and he ran 21 Nationwide races after 29 the year before. I don't have a huge issue with Cup drivers running races in lower divisions from time to time, but it gets annoying when it's nonstop. You guys may or may not remember that Dale Earnhardt Sr often ran half the Nationwide schedule in the late 80s and 90s before focusing just on Cup towards the end of his career. 67. Paul posted: 05.18.2013 - 12:27 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Dale Earnhardt often drove for either his own team or for Ed Whitaker in the Busch Series. He even made a few (get this...) start-and-parks for very small teams because he wasn't racing for points and didn't need the win to boost his ego (he was already winning on a regular basis in Cup). Other Cup drivers who frequently drove for their own Busch Series teams and/or small Nationwide-only teams in the '80s and '90s include Bobby Allison, Harry Gant, the Labonte brothers, the Waltrip brothers, Dale Jarrett, and Ernie Irvan. Because they were making sporadic appearances in non-elite equipment and had no advantage over the rest of the field aside from talent, it wasn't a bad thing. Plus, they were helping build the series and it's teams by making their sporadic appearances, but never raced for the championship and rarely ever competed on the Busch-only tracks (Hickory, IRP, South Boson, etc.) I think Roush and Mark Martin set a bad precedent in the '90s by having a great Cup driver compete in about half the races for a great Cup team, and over the years it's gotten progressively worse with Cup drivers winning five straight Nationwide titles at one point, and basically owning the series since about 2006. I'll admit, it's nice to see them make "special appearances" from time to time in lower series, but when they start runnIng a lot of races and for elite teams (i.e Kyle Busch and Brad Keselowski in the Nationwide Series), then it just becomes annoying and hard to get excited for because a Cup driver win is practically guaranteed, given their talent AND equipment advantage over the rest of the field. 75. ch posted: 05.18.2013 - 2:14 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Sponsor Changes: 9 - Gunbroker.com 84 - Chris Fontaine, Inc. Neither act is tolerable, but what Hornaday did was worse because the intent was obvious and many ore could have gotten involved with he field bunched up. But what started that whole thing last night was a really dumb move by Sauter to make room on a restart where there was none, and in the aftermath that followed, he made contact with Buescher's left front. There was no excuse for what Buescher did, but Sauter began that whole thing with a really dumb move. But NASCAR erred in not penalizing Buescher, who should have been penalized. But damage and all, James did rally to an undeserved sixth-place finish. 79. I'd have to check the video on how late he got his nose below the 60 or if the 60 just came down irresponsibly (possibly spotter's fault), but it wasn't something that warranted getting dumped like that. He ran 3 Busch races not for his own team, Gee or Wihtaker. In those 3 races there were 2 lead-lap finishes and 40 laps led before retrying on the 3rd. 83. I agree. I'm for them running the Truck Series if it's to help their own Truck teams. I just don't like Cup drivers racing elite Cup teams' equipment and the media thinking it is impressive that they can win a lot. Brad's excitement for coming back to Penske's Nationwide car after Richmond was disturbing to me. Dude, you won the Sprint Cup title JUST LAST YEAR! Focus on winning it again this year since you've been in a bit of a slump lately. 84.
