Or at least, that would have been my guess, as your women's team helped to popularize the game in the US and has been a top notch team all the time. BTW, the US (men's) team has to be doing something right, as I watched a few games with Irani people and even they like seeing them play and cheered for the US against Portugal and Ghana. Not to mention that Kyle is having a pretty bad season so far results wise in the Cup Series despite winning in Fontana. I know with NASCAR's chase welfare system it doesn't matter now, but he can easily be eliminated early in the chase if he keeps having these poor results. 57. joey2448 posted: 06.26.2014 - 10:17 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "what I find annoying about the world cup is nobody in the US usually cares about Soccer, unless its world Cup Time, then we worship it, ESPN treats baseball like its NASCAR." That's because it's a nationalistic thing. America has a lot of national pride. One of the things that people from other countries realize about the U.S. is the number of flags that fly around towns, cities, neighborhoods, etc...My sister took a foreign exchange in Sweden for nine months, and one thing she noticed was the number of Swedish flags that are displayed there, compared to the number of American flags in this country. And it seems the same at games. By that I mean the American fans cheering for their home team are much louder and boisterous than other fans cheering for their country. I try to keep up with other leagues such as the Premier League in England, but when it comes to countries sending their best players to the World Cup, the USA ramps coverage up by about 10000000000000x (ahem, numbah10hatah comment). 58. joey2448 posted: 06.26.2014 - 10:24 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "By that I mean the American fans cheering for their home team are much louder and boisterous than other fans cheering for their country." Lemme retool this comment. Obviously, there are countries that also have a lot of loud, boisterous fans like the USA does, but the American fans (in my opinion) seem to try to shove their nationalistic pride down other fans' throats, and get up in their face. I have a lot of American pride, and I love seeing the USA do well at the World Cup (it would be frickin amazing if they somehow make a deep run into the tournament) but the fact remains that they historically, well, suck.
