Did John Wes Townley get fired? The last time Clint Bowyer replaced John Wes Townley in a race was in 2010 when John Wes Townley was fired by RCR due to poor finishes. 2. Yeah, Reddick has preformed pretty unremarkably in the #19 this year. I'm certain Ross Chastain would be doing better in that truck had Keselowski decided to keep him, but alas, he went with Reddick because he brought money and sponsorship. 52. Dave #38 Fan-Go Gilliland! posted: 08.02.2014 - 4:04 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Honestly I don't completely agree with the penalty on Reddick. Quiroga should have been black flagged and held for a couple laps-if not outright parked-for the original incident and imo Reddick was giving Quiroga the penalty Nascar failed to give him. The only thing wrong with the incident was the fact that other trucks were involved. He showed some promise last year but I'm becoming more and more unimpressed with Quiroga with each passing week. He brings sponsorship but I still can't believe Red Horse kept him and dumped Brian Ickler, but with Peters mostly unsponsored this year for some reason Quiroga's checks are probably keeping the lights on. 53. KennyWallaceFan (Truck Series Guy!) posted: 08.02.2014 - 4:51 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) What an amazing race. This was one of the best races of the year along with Martinsville and Gateway. Just amazing. Almost all of the time the truck series puts on the best races at Michigan and Pocono. Almost all of the time way better than Cup or Nationwide. Clint Bowyer made an interesting remark. He said that racing these trucks on a place like Pocono and how the trucks are so aero sensitive is like running a super speedway race. And he makes an interesting point. I do see some similarities from a truck pocono. And especially from the nationwide and cup races at Pocono. Congrads to Austin Dillion, I just wonder if he can win a race in the trucks with NTS. Winning with Richard Childress is good, but winning a truck race this year with NTS would be really impressive. Kyle Larson definitely would of won the race if it wasn't for the engine problem. He is really becoming an excellent driver at Pocono. I though this year that Matt Crafton would run away with the title. And I'm very surprised he's not in the points lead (but if he didn't have the un-lucky DNFs he would be.) But I still think he will run away with the title, and really come on strong in the 2nd half of the season. BK Racing trucks were really good here last year and were this year before the wrecks/strategy. The success to Pocono is simple. The team's with the best engineers succeed, case closed. Ask any person in NASCAR if I'm wrong. If you look at them running this race last year and this year (but not the final results from this year) you can tell that most likely they have very good engineers on that team. And don't forget those are satellite Penske teams. I was biting my nails when all the crazy pitting and strategy was happening when there was around 15 laps to go. It was insane. Very, very good race. On to Michigan (the other track where the truck series almost always out performs trucks and nationwide.) 60. KennyWallaceFan (Truck Series Guy!) posted: 08.02.2014 - 4:54 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Damn some corrections The team's with the best engineers succeed, case closed. Actually a better statement would be the team's with the best engine for the race most (but not all) of the time will do good in the race. Also when talking about the best race of the year, I didn't see Eldora. 61. One of the many reasons I believe the Cup guys should only run a limited schedule at most in the Nationwide and Truck series, or be ineligible to win prize money. I mean, Kyle Busch is 5 for 5 in trucks this year, out of 11 races so far; only five other races (less than half) have been won by Truck regulars, and only 4 by full-time Truck drivers (2 for Crafton, 2 for Wallace). I mean sometimes it does make the race a bit exciting, but compare Road America this year to, say, Dover, and you'll see why I take this point of view. 67. irony posted: 08.03.2014 - 12:50 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Any chance FS1 will replace M Waltrip with T Bodine? I mean, sure the truck races at Pocono and Michigan are usually better than most Cup races, but they are absolutely not the truck series' best races. The trucks are most exciting on short tracks, in Canada, and of course on the plate tracks. Mr. Dillon better enjoy that win. Its not like he's going to be winning anything in Cup anytime soon. And poor Larson...he had a killer truck but ended up loosing that opportunity to finish it off. At least that means he is owed a win somewhere soon, and just maybe it will be in a Cup car. ;) 72. Chives5150 posted: 08.03.2014 - 10:09 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) See, I have absolutely no problem with Larson or Stenhouse, Jr. running in the K&N West Series race at Sonoma, seeing as they've never actually been there before. That was just one race, and Larson dominated it by leading the whole thing. Now, if they go back next year and race the K&N West Series race at Sonoma again, then I will be upset. Other Cup drivers have been known to dabble in the West Series or Southwest Tour at Sonoma in the past, including Jeff Gordon, Robby Gordon, Ken Schrader, Kevin Harvick, and David Gilliland. Now, of course, a couple of those drivers actually raced for a few seasons in the West Series or Southwest Tour, but the point is that that race out in Sonoma is known for one-off Cup drivers because it's the only track on the schedule that is a true stand alone event now. I do understand the frustration that most people have with Cup drivers invading the Nationwide and Truck Series, but to have people complain about a one-off deal (for now) at a K&N race at Sonoma is really bothersome to me. 73.
