The new look included a throwback blue-and-white paint job. Wallace qualified on the pole with the retro look. Scott's only Cup series' pole came in a short track race at Savannah Speedway in 1962. Scott finished eighth in that race, will Wallace do better today? 8. Fireball1020 posted: 10.25.2014 - 4:13 pm Rate this comment: (1) (1) @ 90 I LOVED the race itself, it's just I don't like Wallace at all. Or Cup drivers, for that matter. And I know what I'm saying when I say that we need more variety in terms of winners. Kyle Busch won five of the first seven races in the trucks this season, and Wallace and Jones won five more combined. So that's ten wins for KBM counting Kyle's win at Chicago. It's stupid how Kyle is running a team that has better equipment than 97% of the field. It would be better if Thorsport, and KBM were the only two teams in the series, because they are the only two teams that have a realistic shot of winning outside of Daytona or Talladega. To add variety to the three-team truck series, add Brad K's team. I'm a fan of BK so I don't mind him or his team at all. Well, that and they rarely win. They only have, what, two wins this year total? 95. Fireball1020 posted: 10.25.2014 - 4:18 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) @ 93 Exactly. The Nationwide series has more variety than the truck series. NASCAR really needs to limit the Cup/lower series companion races. It's like they don't even care about the public opinion, only their own. If they listened to the fans, there would be no such thing as Buschwhackers and there would be a lot more tracks on all three series' schedules. 96. Indeed, Crafton is in the best position, and if he continues to run in the top five, he'll be nearly impossible to catch, but 22 points can disappear in a heartbeat, and that's the margin covering the top three, and Crafton had a mini-disaster at Homestead last year after locking up the title simply by starting the race. All Crafton needs is one ill-timed pit stop or a flat tire, even one that doesn't result in a crash, and that 18-point lead over second and 22-point lead over third is gone. Keep this in mind. Darrell Wallace, Jr. gained six points on Crafton in this one race by winning it, and Crafton finished third. That moved Wallace from 28 to 22 points behind. And also remember this. The four-point boost for winning the race is very much in play in the Truck Series, unlike the Nationwide Series, where it's a non-factor since Cup drivers win virtually all the time, and if Wallace, Blaney, or even Johnny Sauter, who's 40 points behind in fourth, get on a rush in the final three races (or in the case for Wallace, four conuting this one), any of them can take the title from Crafton, even if Crafton runs in the top 5-8 every week, so this championship battle is far from over. Also, history is very much against Matt Crafton, as in the 20-year history of this series (and this is the Truck Series' 20th year), no driver has ever successfully defended the title in this series. So Crafton even has history going against him, though the law of averages going in his favor in this regard, because sometime, someone has to successfully defend the title. 112. This is not the Christopher Long-owned team that McLeod has run for. 116. Scott's family was there and shared a great moment in Victory Lane with Bubba. Pretty awesome to see. That being said....the spin with two laps to go should have brought out a yellow and given Peters a chance to go to Bubba's outside for one last restart (or two or three). I was sitting right near the flagstand and kept waiting and waiting for the yellow....and it never came. I was irate only because it seemed pretty clear NASCAR had the story they wanted and were trying to protect it. Like I said, I think Bubba is awesome but the whole thing seemed kind of fishy to me. IT WASNT FIXED. Not saying that because Bubba still had to put the car up front. But NASCAR helped him a lot by not throwing a yellow for an accident similar to ones that brought out 4-5 other cautions earlier in the same race 119. In-fact, there are a lot of spins that should never bring out a caution and do all of the time (Larson's spin last week at 'Dega among many others). It's plain to see that NASCAR calls races to make them exciting rather than fair. This time, a caution would have gone against their desires, and the incident truly didn't require a caution, so they left the green flag out. If it was earlier in the race, or somebody they didn't want to win was in the lead, there would have been a caution immediately. That kind of thing does a great job of turning me away from NASCAR officiated series. 124. Atta' boy, way to debut, and it's not only the criminally underrated Tripp Bruce's performance, but class driving from the young dude. To date the only time I have ever been to a Big 3 National touring series race. Was a decent experience, probably the best part was afterwards hearing a couple of drunks profanely talking about a time they supposedly manged to get away from the police in a car chase. Really hope to see a Cup race here someday. 129. Danish_Pie posted: 06.06.2020 - 3:10 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Still the only win for the #34 in the truck series. But, give Tyler Reddick all the credit for Ryan Blaney finishing 5th. He restarted 7th with 6 to go on the inside, Blaney 8th on the outside. Other keys to Blaney's 5th place was Peters giving Sauter the bumper, which caused Sauter to go from 2nd to 7th and Max Gresham not forcing the issue on the last restart by getting inside of Reddick. Reddick hung back a bit from turn 4 to the front stretch so Blaney could get back to the inside and ahead of him for 7th. They both moved Guenette a bit to take 6th & 7th and were able to be the last 2 of the inside train that passed Johnny Sauter. Blaney left this race 2nd in points, 18 behind Crafton, and could've been 21 easily, maybe even worse and be 3rd in points 132. Gresham & Guenette are 2 names I haven't heard in a long time. Gresham didn't do much in the Truck Series. Guenette was only 18 at the time of this race. He hasn't started a top-3 series race since 2016 in the Xfinity Series, and this is (to date) his only top 10. I thought he was pretty talented, though. Wonder what he's up to now? He's only 24, I'd love to see him get a few more shots in trucks. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
