Easily racing into the 500 with Mike Wallace and starting 2nd in the truck race with Travis Kvapil, I never would have thought his team would be this competitive during Speedweeks. 4. dennyfan11 posted: 02.20.2015 - 7:05 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Ready to start the Truck season! 5. Some of the new systems in qualifying are ok, some are just plain awful! Soon, Mr. France will have a riot on his hands because of the dick changes he has cause in NASCAR. I am very glad Jennifer Jo Cobb has her very best start in her truck career. Hopefully she can get a top 10 tonight, or a top 5 for that matter. 7. 02Justin10 posted: 02.20.2015 - 7:16 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Everywhere I've checked it seems the grid is a little jumbled at the back...did anyone tell NASCAR we are only starting 32 trucks now? Schroeder51 posted: 02.20.2015 - 9:56 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The reasons as to why everyone chooses to wait until the last lap (my best guesses) A. Fear that nobody else will go with them if they pull out B. Worried that they might cause a big crash if they try something too soon I wish they would have just taken a chance right there. Good for Reddick, but the finish could have definitely been better. 141. Everything else is stupid (like qualifying in groups at plate tracks) and some things I don't like at all, but they don't take away from the product. Yellows for almost no reason do. If that's gone, this long time fan might return in a strong fashion, and nothing would make me happier. We'll see how the "Xfinity Series" race goes today. 149. Scott Lagasse, Jr., who was running and finished third, had his truck damaged in one of the crashes, Bryan Silas, who was seventh, finished without a hood, and Johnny Sauter, who was tenth, had his hood damaged so much in the big wreck that parts of it later brought out a caution. Those guys couldn't risk making a move, which affected those around them, because they couldn't make a move because of having damaged trucks in front of and behind them, and with so many others out of the race due to crashes, there simply weren't as many potential helpers out there. I also think they stayed in line as long as they did to prevent Ty Dillon, who had the fastest truck, from having a chance to get their draft and surge to the front. I do think they had that in mind. Those contending for the win did not want that #33 truck contending for the win, so they stayed in line to put him as far back as possible, and that worked, because he was a non-factor at the end and ended up 11th. I was a little surprised that those in the second half of that lead draft didn't try to make a move to get into a better position at the end, but having damaged trucks up there in that lead draft, as well as the fact that they didn't want Ty Dillon up there battling with them, was a big reason why they waited as long as possible to make a move. 156. luigistarted06 posted: 02.21.2015 - 12:14 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) I think Ty Dillon has nobody to blame but himself for not getting help in that race. He stranded his teammate Spencer Gallagher on the high side who then drifted back and because of that was involved in a giant pile up. Had Ty been a good team mate, it's likely that he would've had one to push him at the end 157. cjs3872 posted: 02.21.2015 - 12:28 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) But then again, @156, had Ty not stranded his teammate, who's to say that he wouldn't have been back there with his teammate and might have also been in that big crash. As I said, Ty had the fastest truck, but that being said, if he was in one line and the other line was the one that was moving, he could have just as easily fallen back and been in that big crash, so I can't fault him for that. (And when the incident to which you refer happened, Ty moved down to the inside, because he knew that if he didn't, he was going to start to go backwards because the inside was so much faster than the outside.) I just think that with everyone else knowing how fast that truck was, the group battling for the win decided not to pull out of line, partially because the one way to allow Ty, who was further back, a chance to win was to start racing each other and aw him to pull up. I also think that having damaged trucks sprinkled throughout that lead group affected everyone's ability to make moves prior to the last lap, and even the move Daniel Suarez made in turn one on the last lap didn't work because nobody went with him. Of course, it didn't help that the truck behind Suarez was the hoodless truck of Bryan Silas. 158.
