Austin Theriault had a great qualifying run in 6th, and while the most recent series winner, Tyler Reddick, qualified a paltry 16th, I think he's gonna be making his way to the front pretty quickly. He is a solid wheelman. 3. 02Justin10 posted: 06.05.2015 - 8:39 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Jennifer Jo Cobb is celebrating her 100th NCWTS start tonight (so as a JJCR fan) this is a special night. And she's running the same truck where she scored two decent runs at Kansas and Charlotte. And she was only a tick over a second off the leaders pace in qualifying. Poor Mike Affarano, he struggled getting through tech yesterday and was only able to log a couple practice laps. And I don't know what's up with Make Motorsports this weekend...between both trucks - and counting practice and qualifying - they combined have only completed 6 laps this week. Okay...finally my prerace prediction. If Erik Jones doesn't finally blow the competition away and win...I expect Matt Crafton will be shooting the guns late in the night. Have a good evening and enjoy the race!! (Whoever is watching.) 4. Schroeder51 posted: 06.05.2015 - 9:15 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "33.513 mph difference from 1st to last place starter. I wonder if this sets some sort of record for difference in qualifying speed for a race?" I doubt it, I'm SURE there has been a last place qualifier in a race who qualified even MORE slowly than the polesitter... Yeah, I'm anticipating either Jones or Crafton wearing the cowboy hat in victory lane, although Reddick could surprise us. Outside of that, there aren't VERY many drivers I can see being a threat for the win... 5. Schroeder51 posted: 06.05.2015 - 9:20 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Jones gets the jump at the start. But Jones came back and retook the lead. Early on, looks like a Jones vs. Crafton kind of night. I'm okay with that as long as we see a good battle between the two of em! 9. I will admit he is a serviceable driver now, however he still did not deserve the YEARS of countless second/third/fourth/fifth chances he got to have enough seat time to attain this level of serviceability in the first place. Great start to the season for him, it's already looking like he has an extremely strong shot to win 3 straight Truck titles. Suarez finishes second for the second week in a row. Again, I still think it's funny that people wrote him off after his disaster of a performance in the Daytona Xfinity race...like I've said, it's not fair to totally judge a driver based on ONE race. I think this kid has a real shot at winning a race somewhere this year, be it in the Trucks or in Xfinity... Townley finishes a strong 3rd, and Joe Nemechek gets a top 5 in his last race before he hands over the #8 truck to his son full time. Not the greatest race of all time, but it did have its' moments! 46. Schroeder51 posted: 06.05.2015 - 11:25 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "The fact that Townley is the very embodiment of that is more than enough reason for me to hate him forever" I wouldn't go quite THAT far, but yeah, I do still find it ridiculous that Childress was willing to give him a full-time ride ONE year after his disastrous debut season where he probably broke the all-time record for most cars totaled in a single NASCAR season...all because of his father's money. Of course that didn't work out; I have no idea what he was thinking. Like I said, I don't out and out HATE the guy...but yeah, it's perhaps more than a little unfair that he was given so many chances to improve while other more talented drivers didn't get that chance because they lacked the money. 50. Fireball1020 posted: 06.05.2015 - 11:38 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I like Crafton, but, as when any driver wins every week, him dominating is getting boring. He's had very little competition the past two years, and Kyle Buschwhacker winning every week doesn't help. His only competition is Tyler Reddick, who I actually thought would've had the points lead by now, and Erik Jones, who just has bad luck. And I think FS1 glossing over Jones' losses is probably just feeding to the bad luck. I think Crafton will just run away with the title like last year, and wrap it up before the final race even happens. He is the first driver to win back-to-back titles, and I think he will probably retire as the first driver with five titles. Lower-series regulars dominating like this is actually rare and we really are watching history in the making. Lower series don't always have one series regular who can got out and dominate like Crafton is now and Hornaday did before him, and most lower series have different champions every year, like the Xfinity series. Every driver currently in the top five in Xfinity points actually has a legitimate chance at winning the title, but the same can't be said for the trucks. Not saying that Crafton will definitely win five titles, as something could always happen and he could just fall into a slump, but the chances of that happening are pretty slim. 51. Anonymous posted: 06.05.2015 - 11:41 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) Crafton's record would be a smidgen more impressive if there were more than five or six fully-funded, competitive teams left in this husk of a series. 52. Throughout the race, the driver of the #1 Chevy complained of burning in his feet and his seat. As it turned out, the exhaust was sitting on the floorboard, and it heated up the floor, the seat and pretty much everything else in the car. It even melted part of the shoes Ellis was wearing during the race and boiled the water that he had with him inside the truck. As if the heat and dehydration wasn't enough, exhaust was coming into the truck throughout the race, reducing his oxygen levels and compounding an already demanding race. After getting oxygen, cooled down and re-hydrated, Ellis was able to make the flight home but not before ensuring he was "going to live through the night." Turn the clock forward nearly 24 hours and Ellis is feeling "a little bit better, a little bit messed up" but was able to make a successful trip to the gym Saturday afternoon." -Jayski 59.
