BMan0213 posted: 07.22.2015 - 11:34 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) "Why does nascar not have more dirt races???" Well there's probably a lot of factors. The first one that comes to mind is there's currently no dirt tracks that are capable of hosting a Sprint Cup or probably even an Xfinity race. NASCAR had to bend some rules for even the trucks to come to Eldora, and in all honesty if Tony didn't own the place they probably never would have come here to begin with. 237. Sarf52 posted: 07.22.2015 - 11:35 pm Rate this comment: (7) (0) Wow. Had to collect myself after this one. This race was all that NASCAR should be, and boy it was incredible. The dirt ringers showed up and put on a hell of a show, and this year they beat out the Truck regulars, who in my opinion are as likeable of a bunch as ever. The Truck series is chock full of talent and great racing right now, and that's why I channel most of my viewership towards this series. Bobby Pierce had anyone watching that race, at home or at the track, rooting for him. Whether they knew the Mittler team's background or not, how could you not pull for this guy? Honest, genuine, and a hell of a driver. This race certainly opened up some doors for him around NASCAR, fear not. We just saw a future star born before our very eyes. Poor Chris Bell. He drove an incredible race, and won in his third start! But Bobby Pierce wheeling a dismantled truck to be his only competition all race long overshadowed his victory. But congratulations, hopefully Kyle doesn't turn young Mr. Bell into a shmuck like he's doing to Erik Jones! A few other notes; Daniel Hemric was a heck of a wheelman tonight! First day on dirt? No problem! Korbin Forrister probably shouldn't have been running this race...08 should've hired a dirt ringer. He was a rolling caution flag tonight. I was actually glad Brad K ran tonight. Driving his own truck, he tried mightily to be relevant...but it just wasn't happening. They're from my neck of the woods, so naturally they are a team I would root for. Bobby Pierce is a friend of a friend of mine who has quite a bit of experience at Eldora. 244. Brad was actually getting the hang of it at the end until his slide job went horribly wrong lol, oh well first time on dirt. I think the truck series needs to come to Volunteer speedway during the Spring Bristol race weekend That would be incredible. Bobby Pierce is a badass 245. Really entertaining race, though... wow! 246. numbah10hatah posted: 07.23.2015 - 12:35 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Christopher Bell might not have a Truck ride for the rest of the season. Which is a shame. 247. MAR posted: 07.23.2015 - 12:49 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I wish people would stop acting like KBM is funded by JGR or something his team has more talent that money. Erik Jones is technically unsponsored The #51 gets minor sponsor support from Toyota and Justin Boston took the money with him and left the #54 Unsponsored so this team is no Hendrick motorsports in terms of money Kyle is running this thing basically out of his pocket cause he is good at evaluating talent now Christopher Bell who just won could be out of a ride SMH. 248. You don't have to :) And, it might not be as bad as we think, but I think the package will actually make the racing for the lead/win MUCH worse. However, 5th on back might be a lot more exciting (or not, it's hard to tell) ;) 249. There will certainly be a seat open for him next year if he wants it. 251. The name was a pun on the phrase Midsummer Classic which Major League Baseball uses to promote its traditional mid-July All-Star Game and the December after this race the MLB applied some pressure to the track that led to the need to change the race's name. The event became the Eldora Dirt Derby in 2016. Eldora may not have been able to keep the name but they got the last laugh. Track general manager Roger Slack put out an official statement in which he apologized to all the baseball fans 'who traveled to Rossburg, Ohio the past three years in anticipation of the MLB All-Star Game" by mistake then added he hoped they still enjoyed the race and the $2 beers the track serves that are much cheaper than any at a major league park. 253. Still wish the kid coulda pulled off the win. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
