Ever since they changed the rules so they can't tandem these races have been single file because no one can pass without pushing someone and potentially getting black flagged. Now personally I hated the tandem racing but I feel there has to be a better solution to this. I've always felt just changing the bumpers so they wouldn't line up so perfectly so would be a good idea, but since that sounds like such a good idea in my head, NASCAR either A) hasn't thought about it or B) they have, but have some dumb excuse to why it wouldn't work. 10. Maybe in the Cup series, but in the lower series the Tandem was getting out of control. The wrecks were getting ridiculous, even in the Cup series too if you think about it. People say the Tandem spread out the field but for what ever reason (probably late yellow) they ended up producing some of the nastiest wrecks in recent memory 125. Lucstar88 posted: 10.24.2015 - 4:04 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @124 Yeah, the tandem's had some bad wrecks, but mostly due to idiocy, like drivers were piling in like a NR2003 Online race. Pack racing has always been follow the leader, and this year, trying a move would end your race. heck look at the pack racing this year. Kyle braking his leg, Dillon into the fence. Brian Scott's bad block killing the field. NASCAR wanted pack racing, so they banned the tandems. And with these nasty wrecks are regretting it. 126. NASCAR has really become that ex girlfriend who you entertain the idea about getting back together with, so you go to hang out with her, then you remember all the reasons why you left in the first place. while I do love racing I feel the only reason I follow the sport as much as I do is because of the connections my family has made over the years. It does make the sport a lot ore interesting to follow. 127. I guess we take the safety advances lightly to much now a days. 128. BMan0213 posted: 10.24.2015 - 4:20 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @125 Pack racing hasn't always been follow the leader. That problem has really been do to the current cars in use. For whatever resaon the Gen6 well to put it bluntly suck on the plate track while Xfinity and Trucks have these rules in place that make people scared to pass because they don't want to end up like Bell did today. As for the wrecks the only one that was really bad was Austins (Kyle's was but that was more due to NASCAR'S stupidity than the rules and racing package) and that was more do to how he hit Hamlin and used his front end as a ramp that got him up in the air. Look at all the wrecks the tandems caused from 2011 to 2012. Do to the higher speeds from the pushing and them being tighter together at the end of race plus the crazy aggression by the driver there always seemed to be some crazy 20 car cluster pileup. Wrecks still happen in this new form of pack racing but I feel the big wrecks out side of Austins haven't been near as violent. 129. Hate it that Brian ran out as he had a great chance to win. NASCAR can never win in this situation. If they have 3 GWC's they would complain about someone going into the fence. If they have 1 they would complain about the race ending under caution. But in reality the number of GWC's don't reduce the probability of a bad crash, so I think they should have left the rule alone. However the push rule sucks. Be consistent, please! Bell and Jones should have been penalized. Or just get rid of it! If it was to avoid big wrecks, they still had a big one and it wasn't even caused by pushing. Great race, bad finish, but let's hope the Cup race is better tomorrow. 130. Big Mac Fan posted: 10.24.2015 - 4:38 pm Rate this comment: (0) (4) My solution? Get rid of restrictor plates all together and reduce the banking so they don't run wide open. I know I will come under fire for this because it would be boring (and yes I agree that it would) but that is the ONLY way to have a safe race. Tandems or packs, take your pick, they still had hard crashes. It's just the product of this racing that probably can't be changed. 131. I'd rather have less GWC or none at all because all that does is cause calamity and trucks get torn up. Its not always about what the fans want. You guys have to look through the team owners perspective sometimes. 132. I agree that the 33 should have been penalized too for being the beneficiary of the push, though this time we can't blame it on his being one of NASCAR's "chosen ones" that he avoided being penalized. 135. Bulldozing the banking is past the line. If you want to make it safer I think they should probably put BIGGER plates on the cars. Make the cars go 190 in the draft instead of 200. I mean the cars weren't going up in the fence in the 90's every other plate race like they seem to now. I think slowing the cars down is all that really needs to be done. 136. Why would I want to spend all this money traveling, camping only to get excitement build up all day for the end and then sit there for 20 minutes durning a red flag, while they clean up to see it end this way? It always does anymore.. 141. The finish aren't as great as you think because it takes a lap to get the cars up to speed with the plates on them, but it probably is a better option than just ending the race under yellow. 150. 88&4Fan posted: 10.28.2015 - 11:45 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Thats actually a great idea. And if there is a one lap shootout it should be a rule that there should either a) never be a caution or b) race back to the line during the one lap shootout, since any wreck that would happen would be past the line and not in the way of the leaders coming back to the finish. I've always argued that if there is a wreck on the last lap of a race and its past the start/finish line, there should not be a caution. Of course NASCAR would never let something like this happen. 151. TheHardTooth2216 posted: 10.30.2015 - 12:30 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Sponsor Update: #8 - Chek Industries 152. Two of Billy Boat's 4 Top 10's as an owner came in this race. Only career truck start for Brian Keselowski, in which he led 10 laps and would have had a chance at the win if not for running out of fuel under caution on the GWC. I didn't realize he'd ever made a start with his brothers truck team. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ *Post a comment:* Your comment may not appear immediately - all comments must be approved by the moderator.
