Garrett Smithley showed pretty good speed in that mitler truck. 5. Sucks that Jordan Anderson missed the race. 6. Has anybody noticed this John Wes Townley guy Lol. 4. As Forrister entered the track his blue #59 Ford suddenly made a hard right turn and shot up the track, almost collecting Tyler Reddick's #29 Ford and setting off a massive accident. The announcers thought Forrister's truck had a steering malfunction but Korbin admitted he just lost it when he misjudged how his truck would react as he shifted into second gear and hit the gas. 6. Ak47 posted: 02.27.2016 - 12:38 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) So Forrister (yikes!), Benning, Ellis, and the 74 truck have missed both races...don't see Norm or Harmon's truck lasting far into the season if they keep missing the show every week... Also, I'm confused how Carlos Contreras' truck earned a provisional over trucks that attempted all the races last year? Whose owners points does he have? 7. Won the pole at Daytona and ran up front for much of the night before getting caught up in the late big one, now he starts fourth at Atlanta. Of course, it helps to have a fast team, but I like it. Also nice to see Ryan Truex starting eighth after narrowly losing at Daytona and finishing second. Kid has the talent. One week after his wild, flipping crash on the last lap at Daytona, Chris Bell qualified third (doesn't surprise me at this track, since he's a good dirt racer) and could contend for the win. 18. Ran top-10 all day today to finish fifth, fastest in two of the three practices and won the pole at Daytona. He's shown more speed than Sauter has, IMO. 142. Hemric and Byron have outside shots as well given their equipment and the speed they've shown thus far. 143. murb posted: 02.27.2016 - 7:13 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "Drivers who almost certainly will win:" Timothy Peters is a lock I think. Obviously it's just speculation on my part, but to me it just makes too much sense not to happen when you not only consider that Hendrick badly needs another young driver to eventually pair with Chase Elliott down the line, but also that the Nemecheks have previous ties to Hendrick as well that I imagine would go a long way. 147. I would put Peters in that category a few years ago but RHR hasn't been as good lately. He could still easily win a race though, but I just don't think its a guarantee. 148. He was on fire at the end of the season last year (he finished no lower than 6th in the final eight races and won two of the last five). I know he lost his crew chief this year, but if they are able to carry over most of that momentum from the end of last year he'll definitely win at least once. 150. I've been thinking the same thing. It's not as if Hendrick has another great option coming up the developmental pipeline, either; other than Custer, who's certainly gone after the year, and maybe Alex Bowman since he's getting some races for JR Motorsports in Xfinity this year and no longer has any Cup connections, there's nothing to be had. 157. ch posted: 02.29.2016 - 1:27 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Sponsor changes: 07 - SS-Green Light Racing 8 - NEMCO Motorsports 21 - Allegiant Travel 44 - Diamond Gusset Jeans 71 - RaceTrac 81 - Aisin 158. I have heard everybody tell NA$CAR what they think about the chase yet it is still there. If the caution doesn't come out in 20 minutes we will put one out. To be honest, at least NA$CAR is giving us a set time on when they will put out a B.S yellow flag. So it isn't so suprising when it happens. I was watching the 1998 Daytona 500 earlier and I enjoyed watching it. CBS with their good informative coverage and No B.S. Yellows. The only debris caution was 100 plus laps in and it was a large chunk of tire off of Ward Burton's Pontiac in the middle of the racing surface. I love watching racing like that, plenty of action and no fake cautions to put on a "show." Now the cars are way too expensive and NA$CAR is all about telling its true fan base the ones of us in the South to go screw ourselves. 160.
