And of course, William Byron and the #9 team have posted the fastest practice speed and will start first in tonight's race. A lot of things already repeated from last week, and I expect this race to somehow be similar to last week's race at Dover too. Here's hoping and praying that the Caution Clock causes none of the cautions for tonight's race as well. 2. Had we got qualifying in, neither JJC nor Seuss would probably make the race. 8. The Great Nobody posted: 05.20.2016 - 6:53 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Jennifer was practicing on old tires. She would have been much more competitive in qualifying...maybe enough to earn 27th, maybe not. The Rosenblum/FDNY team was smart to hop over to the #1. Put themselves in the show. (That's two weeks in a row MoneyMAKE, MAKEMoney Motorsports were able to find buyers for their "2nd" truck.) 9. Ultimate Warrior #18 posted: 05.20.2016 - 7:29 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @8 I think make motorsports is smart in selling it's number and owner points when a buyer comes up. They clearly can't run 2 competitive trucks so running 1 and having another team use the other benefits them in terms of team development. 10. Ak47 posted: 05.20.2016 - 8:59 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The rain qualifying system is a shame. Seeing 4 decent trucks go home when at least 4 garbage trucks with slower practice times get to race isn't fair. These part time teams (BKR 3rd truck, Mark Rette's #30, the Food Country truck of Holman, and even Austin Hill) are all losing money now because they showed up to race with decent trucks and the rain turned them away. The fastest 32 should still race, rain or not. 12. numbah10hatah posted: 05.20.2016 - 9:19 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) In using fastest 32 in practice: #2 Austin Theriault, #75 Caleb Holman, #30 Jesse Little, #20 Austin Hill Out using fastest 32 in practice: #07 Garrett Smithley, #49 Timmy Hill, #10 Jennifer Jo Cobb, #1 Andy Seuss 13. Ak47 posted: 05.20.2016 - 9:23 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I think they should change the rules so that, in the event of a rainout, practice becomes official qualifying. Award a pole, tell the teams that they better try for a good lap in practice, and lock in the top 27. No excuse for fast trucks going home. 14. Ak47 posted: 05.20.2016 - 9:30 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Interesting but unrelated note: with 4 full-time winners thru 5 races, the odds of another 4 in the next 11 are pretty good. Obviously, with 8 Chase spots, this means that the only way to qualify will likely be winning a race. Even being top-5 without a win likely won't be enough for the Chase. With Peters, Hemric, Reddick, Custer, Rhodes, Bell, and Hayley yet winless, there's a decent chance even a low-standing winner could miss the Chase. No doubt this will create excitement over the next 11 races, but the parity this year could deal a huge blow to a guy like Peters or Gallagher, who, despite being good points racers, are less likely to win a race. 15. Cooper posted: 05.20.2016 - 9:50 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) How about NASCAR just allows all entered vehicles to race. Whats the point of sending people home. If you want to race, you should be able to. 16. We need more Onion posted: 05.20.2016 - 9:58 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Better allocation of prize money is the point. Though I also think it's bullshit in Cup and Xfinity. Though in trucks, there are no real big teams that could afford dropping a little. 17. Ak47 posted: 05.20.2016 - 10:57 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Sorry Norm Benning, but I have to disagree with you Cooper. If NASCAR let all entered trucks race, we'd have a bunch of S&P trucks entering, taking up prize money that would be better-served with a competitive team. I think you'd see a lot of teams using methods similar to what RSS Racing did before Ryan Sieg moved up to Xfinity - race 1 truck and park 2-3. That would not be in the best interest of the series. 18. AK49 posted: 05.21.2016 - 8:06 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I dislike NASCAR and I just come here to complain. I like this rulebook system because it awards the little guys who travel and show up to every single event. That is the way those teams are contributing to the series. Without GreenLight, Make, JJCR, Norm Benning, Mike Harmon, Jay Robinson and MB Motorsports, there would not have been 25 trucks starting more than half the races in the past two seasons. Plus, its better for part time teams to "lose money". Brad Keselowski and Thorson/Jones will be AOK. And the other part time teams won't be going to ever race, so that's that. 19.
