Didn't take long for German Quiroga to get back in the swing of things, I'll be rooting for him tonight. And the competitiveness of the truck series continues. Top 20 within 4-tenths of a second. And being less than 9-tenths off the pace puts you out of the event. 4. Braindead Zombie posted: 06.10.2016 - 7:33 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) JOHNNNYYYY!!! And how about Quiroga! He clearly didn't have that bad of a truck, but just misses out. Jennifer Jo Cobb also would've made the race if we raced by a "fastest 32" rule. 6. Ryan posted: 06.10.2016 - 7:39 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Wow, Quiroga with a great run. I love how competitive the truck series is, it really feels like on any given night 15 different guys - at least - have a chance to win. 7. I never understood why Norm Benning gets so much sympathy on here. If he had made the race there is about a 50% chance he start and parks and even if he doesn't he's one of the slowest trucks on the track. I get that he's an owner driver and doesn't have much equipment to work with and people like him for still showing up to the track, but the fact is now that the field is deeper, there are too many good trucks for him to be able to qualify for races. And I for one don't see why I should feel sorry for one of the slowest trucks failing to qualify. 9. RaceFanX posted: 06.10.2016 - 7:52 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) German Quiroga returns to NASCAR competition for the first time in 19 months and, back with his old team Red Horse Racing, promptly reminds us why we missed him by qualifying second. Jesse Little replaces Ryan Truex in the #81 Toyota. His father Chad almost won a Cup race here back in 1998 and Jesse was 15th here last fall so it will be interesting to see how Little does tonight with a hot truck...although it's bitter sweet to see Truex not in the field and out of the title hunt because of it. 10. Tyson posted: 06.10.2016 - 7:56 pm Rate this comment: (3) (0) People feel sorry for Norm because he's not a ride buying rich kid. He's been in the sport since the '80s, and is actually a really good dirt and short track racer, despite his awful equipment. He's one of the only guys left out there that comes from an old school racing kind of background, so naturally people are going to pull for him. He's just a good guy who likes racing. Racing burns a hole in his pocket, and yet, he's still here. That's why people feel sorry for him. 11. Shear was Cole Custer's crew chief earlier in the season before this switch. Sauter and Shear won both races here at Texas together in 2012 so it will be interesting to see how they run tonight, they've got a special citrus Smokey Mountain Herbal Snuff paint scheme tonight. 12. This was an awesome broadcast as I heard nothing but the trucks and the pit communications and it was a great finish 127. I've been really impressed with him this year considering he has very little experience on these 1.5 milers. Starting to think he could be a sneaky title candidate... Also nice to see Quiroga back and running well. I enjoyed watching him when he was running full time, so I hope he can get a nice ride again after this and be a Truck regular again for a while. "I like Johnny but he really needs to calm down sometimes." He's the Will Power of the Truck Series now. Non stop whining, complaining, and blaming. It's not like he's ever been a saint or anything (even in his very early RCR/Brewco Busch days he was a hothead), but over the last couple years it seems like he's gotten worse for some reason. I don't know. I guess I don't really mind it though as I enjoy having him around. It seems like he's maybe the last "Cup washout who revitalized himself in Trucks" guy left, and I've always appreciated that about the Truck Series. So as annoying and cranky as he always seems now, I'm happy he's still kicking. 129. Braindead Zombie posted: 06.11.2016 - 1:09 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "your are going to end up leaving out some good trucks" Good. Not everyone who is semi-decent should make the chase. Thats why I liked the 2004-2006 chase so much. Good drivers got left out. People like Jeff Gordon (2005) and Tony Stewart (2006) missed it. I think the truck series has the best chase of the three series, though I'd prefer that the two lower series not have any and the cup series go back to 2004-2006 rules. 134.
