Then it will finish the race on FS1. This is because of the U.S. Open. 3. 02Justin10 posted: 06.18.2016 - 6:52 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) The surge in competitiveness with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series continues. German Quiroga missed out on the second round of qualifying, and will start 25th after being under a half second off the pole time. And 30th place Tommy Joe Martins is just a tick over a full second off the pace. With this tight of a field, starting positions tonight probably matters more than usual at Iowa. And a side note, Jennifer Jo Cobb will be back in the #1 truck at Gateway with a driver for the #10 to be announced. She will also be honoring two female military service members next weekend. This race tonight should be good. 4. Crew Chief Steve Kuykendall posted a picture earlier this evening of both trucks when they were gridded up for qualifying. The #10 is the truck Jen missed the show with at Texas last week, and also ran at Atlanta, Kansas, and Charlotte. Jen's #1 tonight is the same truck she ran back at Dover (the few stickers on the truck are the same as the one she ran at Dover.) 6. This race comes just days after ThorSports suffered a large fire that burned down much of its fabrication shop and have taken to a local Kroger parking lot to work on the trucks. A lot of help and support has come out of the racing community, which is good to see. ThorSports' drivers qualified second (Hayley), ninth (Crafton) and 10th (Rhodes). 9. Already he's somebody I feel will likely tear it up in Cup once he makes it there (for I'm 99.9% certain already that he will eventually). Best run of the year for Custer as well. Great to see all these kids battling up front at the end-the future of NASCAR-talent-wise, that is-is burning bright right now. Great racing in the closing laps tonight-Iowa has proven itself to be a very fun racetrack. Though I'm still not sure I want this place to get a Cup date considering NASCAR would just pair up one of the Xfinity dates (and/or the Truck date) with it and give the Cup stars another shot to take a win away from the series regulars... 131. joey2448 posted: 06.18.2016 - 10:50 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) WOW who would've thought back in February that William Byron would have THREE Truck wins by mid-June? Sucks that Gibbs won't end up having room for him, but he's got a great future in the sport regardless of where it is. Nice second place finish for Custer. He needed that this year. Ben Rhodes was legitimately impressive tonight. I was down on him last year and at Kansas but he has had a few really good runs (Martinsville also comes to mind). Ben Kennedy also had a good run. Another guy who I've been down on before on but he has been impressive this year. Probably won't make the chase though because I don't think he's running the whole season though I could be wrong. 138. After his sub par runs in the last year or so, I didn't think he'd get very far. He never did anything that impressed me. But so far this year, he's on the upswing. Certainly has raised his stock by running up front the last few weeks. As far as Ben Rhodes, I never doubted him. I could see he had talent, but still had to mold it and sharpen his craft. He's still in that process, but he's getting closer. Also, I have no idea which race Cman was watching, because if you watched the previous Truck race in Texas, there was a whole 'nother cast of characters running up front and challenging in that race. Guys like Hemric, Crafton and Abreu, and now tonight, it's totally different. With the infusion of young talent in this series (as well as Xfinity), the Cup series will look completely different within 10 years. It's awesome! 143.
