I'm surely hoping the bottom lane stays as the preferred lane tonight. However, it still won't be the same as the "old Bristol" because backmarkers could simply run high and stay out of the way. Ditto for simple passes for position. It's a shame #63/Griffin goes home. However, when your team decides to only run part time and rents your number out to Norm Benning to fill the rest...you should know what you are getting into by taking the points hit. If MB Motorsports ran the whole season this year, they probably would have had enough points to fall back on tonight. I'll by cheering for my guy #44/Tommy Joe Martins! Hope trouble doesn't find him and he can score a top 15 or so. 13. chevyfan98 posted: 08.17.2016 - 6:49 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) All right, who's ready for some Wednesday night short track truck racing? http://image.masslive.com/home/mass-media/width620/img/sports_impact/photo/tom-brady-facejpg-cfc7594e9c84bd87.jpg 14. That 27th Spot posted: 08.17.2016 - 6:58 pm Rate this comment: (5) (0) The TV guys this evening really amazed me. They followed Austin Cindric and his qualifying situation very closely. I wish I could tell them that, "Hello...there have been just as hard fought fights over the 27th position over the last 2 seasons!" Last year at New Hampshire #0 Roark and #36 Tanner ran 3 times in the 1st round of qualifying, and secured their best laps on their final runs to nab 26th and 27th place. Last year at Phoenix, #1 Pardo found time during his 2nd run to leap from 30th to 27th to qualify in on time. And the season finale in 2015 at Homestead found #86 Brown to hang on to that final time trial position in 27th (after getting cut out in 28th twice in 2015.) It just goes to show that a rich kid on a big money team can still get extra exposure, even simply trying to nab 27th on the grid. Meanwhile, other poorer teams do this poop every week and nobody ever hears about them. FoxSports for ya' .... 16. Tyson posted: 08.17.2016 - 7:04 pm Rate this comment: (3) (1) They give Cindric the TV time instead of guys like Tanner and Roark simply because it's a story whether he makes the race or not. Cindric spun twice, but rallied to make the race. If he doesn't make the race, it's a big story because that's a fairly big name in a big money ride as you noted that misses out. Caleb Roark and Tyler Tanner, both running start & parks, trying to make the race isn't the story FOX, or any mainstream media want to tell because the vast majority of people don't care if Jennifer Jo Cobb's second truck makes the race or not. 17. Missing Daytona at the beginning of the season didn't do any favors, and only finishing half the races of the 11 that they have run, (Norm's 2 races and then 9 for MB team) hasn't helped either. Sucks that they didn't make it, but the low point standing is what caused them to miss, and it was not just Norm's fault. 21. joey2448 posted: 08.17.2016 - 8:38 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The good thing about this track is that it doesn't take long to dry once the rain stops. It was always so fun to watch drivers have to get physical and poke and gouge their way through the pack. You can watch side-by-side racing any week of the year, but Bristol always featured a different style of racing that was exciting as hell. My biggest thing I have a problem with is the whiney butt-hurt babies that claimed "BRISTOL IS RUINED AND PUTS ON HORRIBLE RACES" when it was not the case. 2007-2012 Bristol put on some really good races (though a bit sterile). 2012-2016 Bristol was great and better than ever. One preferred line (A Darlington wall-riding line to boot) and another line that would work if somebody made a daring balls-out pass or roughed up the car in front of them. And another thing that bothered me is that anytime since 2007 if a Pre-2007 Bristol type race broke out at any other track the same fans pining for Old Bristol would lose their minds and proclaim the race to be horrible. 57. chevyfan98 posted: 08.17.2016 - 10:19 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) 2012-2016 Bristol was by far the best. To me it's the perfect blend of the "classic Bristol" and the 2012-2016 multi-groove Bristol. The bottom is definitely the way to go once again, but if it gets too rubbered up and slippery then I think they can still viably run the middle and top and make good time (certainly way more than they could run the middle and top on the 1992-2007 version, I think - though it's still way early to tell, but that's what I'm seeing so far). 59. He didn't do that bad of a job in Cup last year considering his EXTREME lack of upper level NASCAR experience, he's starting to show that he really belongs in the sport. Great job by Hemric to finish 3rd after having to start with a backup truck. 114. joey2448 posted: 08.17.2016 - 11:52 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) Ben Kennedy is the great grandson of "Big" Bill France, and yes, he is the son of Lesa France Kennedy. Boy I wanted to see Moffitt win, but he was a little hesitant in giving Kennedy a nudge, and missed his chance. This win is not entirely a surprise, because Kennedy had put together several other solid runs this year that showed me he had something. Good to see him get the W! 115. But he already has a win this year, so he probably decided to let his students do their job, because he has all his 3 full-time Trucks properly sponsored. Not like the previous years, when he had to run nearly half of the races and more due to lack of sponsorship. 116. Coming after a rash of crashes this year, plus the injury, plus the fight, it's gone downhill in ARCA and Trucks. Coming out of a short track unscathed with a top ten is a huge deal at this point. 128. BK#23#83 posted: 08.20.2016 - 2:03 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) First truck race, and had an awesome time! The combination event for NASCAR's northern and southern modified tours was supposed to be run to completion before this race began but the rains came before that race reached halfway. Once the track was dry the truck race was run then the modifieds came back out afterward and finished their race. New York racer Eric Goodale won it. 130.
