Well, Tom DeLoach (the owner) is a former Exxon-Mobil executive IIRC, so I'm guessing he must have some money lying around or something that has allowed them to sustain a little longer than most teams would with no sponsorship. Even still, I'm definitely impressed/surprised they've lasted this long (and remained a consistently good competitor) while running the blank trucks... 18. What emotion from Grala in victory lane, this win is huge for him. Watching the ARCA race last weekend, he learned so much that helped him today, I'm sure. One "lol" moment of the race was when Spencer Gallagher, someone who probably doesn't belong out there, managed to wreck not one, but two leaders by hitting each one separately out of turn 4 on the last lap of the first segment...and he still didn't win the segment. 217. murb posted: 02.24.2017 - 11:05 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "Spencer Gallagher, someone who probably doesn't belong out there" I didn't see the incident (or didn't notice that he caused it), and admittedly he's never struck me as the brightest bulb, but really? As a full time Truck driver he's been very serviceable (15 top tens in 58 races - basically a quarter of his starts). He'll probably be mediocre in NXS this year because I don't know how good their new team will be, but worst case scenario I think he's clearly a decent Truck Series driver. 218. Kenseth's car was already turning over from the air before the roof flaps had a chance to actually work. In tonight's case with Crafton, a hit by another truck allowed air to get underneath and turn him over. Even the roof flaps can't prevent that. 219. It appeared he also took out Bell and Moffitt on the fight to Lap 20. Sauter showed this new bonus point segment structure has put more incentive to go for the lead - and that's good for racing. Incentivizing going for the lead is always better. The Trucks are more and more making push-drafting work within NASCAR's absurd rules box - not only more passing up front, the pushdraft also cut down on blocking, which is getting to be a problem for the Cup series (I'm surprised they didn't wreck more cars in the 150s given how people kept chopping each other off up front). 223. The point of creating NASCAR was that there would be a unified stock car racing organization with trophies and prize money for the winners, and I'll hazard a guess that devising the points system wasn't the first thing on their minds on December 14, 1947. 248. chevyfan98 posted: 02.25.2017 - 12:42 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) Not sure why everyone is upset that Sauter is second in points despite only finshing fifteenth. I think its a good thing that NASCAR is rewarding performance throughout the whole race. 249. chevyfan98 posted: 02.25.2017 - 12:43 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) "Scott Lagasse Jr. had a good run, but I have no clue if Lagasse will race at Atlanta. He'll definitely be out at Martinsville, as Lagasse's only racing in the 24 because Justin Haley isn't old enough quite yet." Likely not, since he generally only runs the Florida races. 250. 28DaveyAllison28 posted: 02.25.2017 - 1:38 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) NASCAR say they wanna create "moments".. well dumbasses you ruined a great "moment", and call to the finish line last night by doing stupid calls after the pileup saying occurs "O we don't know who won the race" (When It Was Obvious Who Was Clearly Ahead) making announcers, crews wait forever to celebrate INSTEAD cheering, screaming as they come to the finish line. 251. Sauter led over half the race, but got caught up in the crash on the last lap and finished fifteenth. The stage system excels at precisely this scenario. Though it is technically true that someone could get 20 points for leading two specific lapsā?"the ends of stages 1 and 2ā?"such a scenario is far-fetched, except at the plate tracks. Most often, we'll be seeing a driver who is already well in control of the race during a particular stage winning it and taking the well-deserved bonus points. Furthermore, even if another driver came out of nowhere to steal the stage win, the other would still receive points as long as he remained in the top ten. The stage points were an excellent move by NASCAR. 252. David posted: 02.25.2017 - 2:48 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) I should know by now that R-R doesn't like em dashes... 253. I thought the trucks were still using a 32-1 points scale to represent 32 starters? This points sheet goes 36-5. 2.) The #1 is now only owned by Tracy Johnson Lowe. The MAKE Motorsports team dissolved and the co-owners have gone their separate ways. Mark Beaver only owns the #50 of Beaver Motorsports, and Tracy Johnson Lowe only owns the #1 for TJL Motorsports. 258. So they only increased the separation by one point from what it already was. 260. He's actually 25th in the points right now, he's run 6/7 races (although he's start and parked 5 of them.) His only race he missed was Martinsville, and he's driven for both D.J. Copp and Michael Peck/Mittler. 264.
