I expected that. Kentucky had 34 trucks and they skipped that race. I guess they will only be attempting truck races in the rest of 2018 if: A.) They have a funded driver. B.) Only 32 or less trucks enter a race. 4. TC021002 posted: 08.09.2018 - 11:36 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Plus his team is racing at Mid Ohio 5. First time in Top 5-level equipment, and an opportunity to redeem himself after a lackluster stint in the JD Motorsports 15 car. 7. For those raving about Matt Mills' performance here (he'll be starting 4th when his previous best was only 19th).... look at what trucks he was in before today, and what truck he is in now. 8. George posted: 08.11.2018 - 1:49 pm Rate this comment: (2) (0) That sucks for Mills. Remember the "Roush Gong Show", when the Ford pipeline was overflowing with hot young prospects and they basically got one shot to succeed because the competition level was so high? Mills just blew his "Toyota Gong Show" pipeline audition, and will probably have to settle for a less advantageous ride if he is to advance within the NASCAR ranks. He's still very young, but sometimes one chance is all you get. 18. JSPorts posted: 08.11.2018 - 1:52 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) He had a chance with JDM in Xfinity, too, and didn't do great in that car. 19. Tyson posted: 08.11.2018 - 1:57 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @17 and 18 Tbh I felt that Mills got shafted by JDM too soon. His performance wasn't any worse (possibly even better) than Miller was. Miller, of course, brings funding, but he's been terrible. I think this was probably Mills' last shot at a decent/quality ride. 21. JSPorts posted: 08.11.2018 - 2:02 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Miller hasn't exactly been solid, but he was better than Mills. Miller's average finish is 27.9. Mills' is 33.5. At the time he was released, Mills was 38th in points. Miller was 27th. 22. Posing Crawdad posted: 08.11.2018 - 2:04 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) feel bad for Mills. Tyson posted: 08.11.2018 - 2:34 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @21 - Mills also missed Daytona and DNQ'd for Texas simply because the team couldn't get the car through tech. Also: by the time Mills was actually released, JDM sat him out for a bunch of races so points standings is pretty skewed... 31. George posted: 08.12.2018 - 10:53 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Maybe the powers (Joe Gibbs, Kyle Busch) who outrank those DGR-Crosley powers (David Gilliland) just wanted to give Mills a chance and see what he could do for one race? It didn't go well, but if it had there'd be one more driver in the bulging pipeline today. All it really cost to find out was one torn-up racecar, and they can easily afford that. 48. RaceFanX posted: 08.12.2018 - 11:04 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) Matt Mills' first Truck series start of 2018 actually was going alright until the black-and-red #54 Toyota Tundra got loose and he ended up backward in the Turn 2 wall. His fourth-place qualifying run is by far his best in the series to date and while he faded in Stage 1 he was still running 13th at the time he crashed. 49. Probably knew there would be at least 5 cars going home and before the entry list even came out they went 'lol nope'. Still, 11 trucks have to get in on speed. Gonna be hard for teams that have only run a few races, and especially tough for the 9 and 30 teams, with no Owners Points to fall back on. 55. I'm going to make an article in the coming weeks that reviews the owner Standings, and how many different entries have showed up throughout as season.
