Though I expect 35 or 36 by the time qualifying rolls around. 0 and 87 will probably withdraw, and maybe the 50 as well. Austin Theriault makes his truck series return with On Point Motorsports. His first race since a one-off at Fall Martinsville in 2016 with Young's Motorsports. Pending a late entry, which is unlikely with the field size, this will be the third straight week the Mittler Brothers No. 63 won't attempt to make the field. Though they have been working with Copp Motorsports and fielded each others trucks throughout the season, it's not good to see the longest tenured team in the series not show up with their flagship truck for consecutive weeks. 5. JSPorts posted: 09.11.2018 - 8:57 pm Rate this comment: (3) (0) The 50 won't withdraw. They've attempted every race and it benefits them to finish out the season. Glad to see Theriault back, though I wish it was in something more competitive. It's a shame he can't find a good ride somewhere, because he's very talented and could win in the right equipment. I'm trying not to read too much into MB not showing up. Sure, I'm a little concerned for the team, but you have to remember they rarely ran full-time until around 2014. Running part-time is nothing new for them. Actually neither the MB #63 nor the Copp #83 showed up to Canada. But the Copp truck is back now. Both teams appear to be struggling greatly with sponsorship issues. 6. Copp was fielding the #63 when Mittler didn't plan to. The last time a Beaver truck was actually at the track was Eldora. Since then Premium Motorsports has been fielding the #50. As #6 already pointed out, I also believe Copp, Beaver and Harmon are feeling a financial crunch. Lets also remember Mike Mittler is battling cancer. Could also be why they have showm up less this season. 11. rm posted: 09.12.2018 - 7:14 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) The new engine deal has allowed teams that were somewhat competitive but limited by funding to be able to attempt more races and put up half-decent finishes as a result. The downside of that is that it pushed out teams that are not competitive and even more limited by funding, such as the teams that have been mentioned already here. It sucks for those guys, but the back end of the field is switching from 8 trucks that are going to finish 10 laps down to only a couple of those and the rest being filled by small, part-time teams that know they can pull out a good result whenever they do show up to the track. Look at Bristol - a very competitive field in which the only trucks that were in the way were the ones that suffered mechanical failures or crash damage mid-race. That is hopefully what the future of the Truck Series will look more like. Even there a truck that's usually well off the pace (83) snuck into the field while a truck that's been quick when it shows up (92) missed out on the race. 12. JSPorts posted: 09.12.2018 - 7:17 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) I think the engine deal helps. Not many teams left the series after last year, and a whole bunch of new ones have either come in or elevated their existing programs from part-time to full-time. 13. Look at Hattori, their Toyota manufacturer engines are still race winning. Cobb and Reaume Brothers have been sticking S&P's into races on time with their older SB2's. And Jen runs her #10 with a used ARCA spec Ilmor engine. Jordan Anderson was able to use extra funding saved from the engine package to start his own solo team from the corner of the Niece shop. Her last non-plate Top 20 was this race last year. And how about Jen Jo Cobb?! Put that truck in the show on speed, and kept up all race to finish lead lap top 15. So awesome. 101. Also a great drive by Austin Theriault, getting a top-10 in only the 2nd race for that team. 102. Mannoroth posted: 09.15.2018 - 1:05 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) 98. But he still has 4 wins, which is really solid in his case. And I still think he will lose to Sauter or Gragson either way, so at least something. 103.
