Which will be midpack in Decker's case and midpack-until-the-inevitable-crash in Ruch's case. I agree with @3, 28 trucks running the full race (or 26 since the 6 and 34 rarely finish under power) is better than just adding start and park entries for the sake of it. 13. Vizion and Obaika both had huge plans, but both haven't been heard from since they withdrew. Also in general, teams are running out of funding. I remember Gene Haas saying that those "15 million dollar deals just aren't there anymore". Furniture Row, Michael Waltrip, Mason Mitchell, MDM, and so many more prove that losing even one sponsor or one small bad thing can shutter your team within a year. He was impressed that he held off the field as well as he did with half worn tires than the rest of the field. Regardless it wasn't a fuel mileage win, it was more Stewart Friesen lost the race with miscommunication on pit road, thus giving an opportunity for Ross Chastain to win for the team owner, Al Niece, their first ever win in the Truck Series. Yes, Friesen did run out of fuel--but if anyone other than Chastain was in that #45, it most likely wouldn't have been in 2nd place to take advantage of the situation anyway. It's not like a lot of trucks ran out of fuel. He still had to earn that win by beating everyone else. Chastain has yet to finish outside the top 10 this season, and as a result, he owns half of Niece Motorsport's best-ever finishes from this season alone. He also has recorded all of the team's 4 best-ever finishes on his own--all this season. 113. I know you're a JHN fan, but that still doesn't really excuse it. Hell, you should be happy that Chastain got (what would have been) full-time in the 42 this year. Because if that was Nemechek in that seat, then it would have been Nemechek who would have been screwed by DC Solar leaving, and would have to more than likely had to run another part-time campaign. Ross has more than done enough to show he's deserving of a top tier ride and any series. 114. Danish_Pie posted: 05.11.2019 - 8:13 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) ^ *in any series. 115. I was pulling for Friesen and hated to see him run out of gas, but they did that to themselves, and Chastain was in the right spot to take advantage of the 52 teams mistake. Chastain might have been able to pass Friesen anyway. For those saying Chastain stole the 42 from Nemechek, you are practically the definition of retarded. Nemechek is my favorite young driver, but Chastain simply out performed him in that car last year. Too many idiots come on here with the brain dead mindset of "I don't like this driver so I'll ignore facts and make ridiculous and baseless statements to discredit them". I know that mistakes just belong to this sport, but he would finish 2nd and not first looking at the pure performance... If Chastain is that good, why he doesn't lead laps? He can't with that poor equipment, so his only chance is to steal some win (like he did yesterday). When he clearly outperforms everyone like last year at Las Vegas, we can take him seriously again. 120. Name one other driver, who is not currently in the JGR, Penske, or Hendrick stable, who would win a non-super speedway race in Niece equipment? It's not like he was outside of the Top 15 all race then lucked into a win. He ran at or near the front all day, just like he has every other truck race this year. 121. Any number of things could be said in response to this horribly out-of-touch-with-reality comment, but I'll just say this. Chastain has had a grand total of 3 career Xfinity starts in top-tier equipment. What did he do in those 3 starts? 1st start - Darlington - led the most laps before crashing late. 2nd start - Las Vegas - dominated, led 90% of the laps and won. 3rd start - Richmond - started 3rd, ran up front all race long, and finished 2nd. Find me another driver who had accomplished that much in his first 3 starts in top-tier equipment. 125. Mannoroth posted: 05.11.2019 - 1:50 pm Rate this comment: (0) (1) 120. No, I'm just answering the obvious question. And he didn't ran out front all day - 5 laps out front isn't something special. He did win a non-superspeedway race, but with the help of Friesen's empty fuel tank. That's not the same as outperforming everyone and win like during that Xfinity Las Vegas race last year... 121. Until he starts winning normally, then not. Some outstanding performance is a nice thing, but useless, when you don't win. It's like with Austin Dillon or Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. - both were able to win 2 Cup races, but on the superspeedway and via fuel mileage. What's the probability they will win normally by outperforming everyone? Very low. On the other hand, Ryan Blaney also has 2 Cup wins, but in both cases, he outperformed everyone else (especially at Pocono). That means he has to be taken seriously, because he can win normally. You see that difference? 126. Mile501 posted: 05.11.2019 - 1:50 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) To add to my above comment, Chastain did lead 53 laps in the #45 at Martinsville a back in March. He led the most laps of anyone in that race besides Kyle Busch, and he won stage 2. So...Chastain has proven he can lead laps, and this is while driving for an organization that, as a whole, had led a grand total of 2 laps prior to 2019. 127. Sure there are still posters on Racing-Reference with scary obsessions with drivers ranging from Kyle Busch to Carl Long to Natalie Decker, either with an unhealthy adoration or an unhealthy hatred. It's one thing to state a fact, it's another to have some neurosis that requires you to respond every time your obsessive target is mentioned (or, all too often, even when he ISN'T mentioned). We get it already -- you madly love Kyle Busch or you despise Natalie Decker.... or whatever. Repeating it ad nauseam at the slightest provocation doesn't make your point any clearer and doesn't win you any more followers for your cult.
