I hope he can do it. 16. Hi posted: 06.04.2019 - 3:55 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) Question about Chastain's point move: Does he keep all the points he already had? Really wish Ross made this decision before his win though, as he'd almost be guaranteed to make the playoffs in that scenario. But, if we're talking an ideal world, he would've had sponsorship with Ganassi and be a threat for the Xfinity title 22. Tarheel posted: 06.04.2019 - 4:49 pm Rate this comment: (1) (0) I going to get mathematical here. Given that Ross would have scored approximately 300 points in the first eight races if he'd been running for them, let's assume he can score approximately 300 in the next eight races. On average, he should be higher in points than anyone who has less than 150 points right now (because they should have 300 by the start of the playoffs), which would mean my projection is that Ross will be 12th in points at the end of the regular season, give or take a couple of spots. But of course, it's all theoretical. 23. Mannoroth posted: 06.05.2019 - 12:15 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) I just don't understand this picking a series, where you will score points. I thought that before the season, you have to make a decision and it will stay that way for the rest of the season, not to just change it, when you see you're not running good... In that case, Ross Chastain robbed himself, because his top 10 finishes and a win at Kansas don't count now, but on the other hand, the level of competition in Trucks is so low that almost everyone can make it into the top 20 with zero points. And that also means Chastain will make a doubleheader? Will he travel to Texas and then back to Michigan for a Xfinity race? 28. Kyle Busch, the winningest Truck driver in series history, won here earlier this year. Greg Biffle, the record holder for most wins in one season (9 wins in 1999), wins the second Texas race in his first race in a long time! 243. Greg Biffle didn't make a single NASCAR start for 2 and half years, starts one Truck Series race and immediately wins. Well, looks like we now know, what's wrong at KBM - their drivers just aren't that good, when even a driver who doesn't race anymore beats them and wins the race. 246. Two, this race was full of wrecks. Three, neither of them has a crew chief that is half as good as Rudy Fugle. If I was Kyle I'd want to give the young guys the best stuff and build my team for the future but when you have factory support I guess it doesn't matter. That or Kyle is a dumbass. I'm banking on the latter. Happy for Greg though, if nothing else he can at least say he went out a winner. 247. Texas' own Cory Roper also rallied back from his loop on the backstretch to record his first top-10 finish. 250. A question for those who know a lot about racing history--has anything of this nature ever happened before, in any national racing series, where a driver who had been retired or out of racing for a few years comes back and wins in his first start back? In his first start earning truck points, Ross Chastain scores 38 points, placing him 35th in the standings at the moment. If he continues to score points at this rate, he should be in the top 20 in points in about 3 more races. 251. Cotton Owens did a similar thing (though not as long of a gap) in 1964 at Richmond. 253. But does anyone know who held these before tonight? And I can't help but feel good for him too, hopefully Kyle can let him start a few more this year. And then Ankrum finished 3rd after almost nosing it into the pit wall really caught my eye. I think he might have something. And even with the crashes it was still a pretty good race, I was thinking about going to it with a friend but I had work. Bummer!! 254. He might be more experienced than those rookies, but remember he didn't start a single NASCAR race for 2 and half years. When you get off that NASCAR circle, you'll start losing your skills (especially if you are 49 years old). So it's really surprising that he won. But, of course, this is a Truck Series with very little competition, not the Cup Series... Rudy Fugle just can't be everywhere to help everyone... Someone just has to have someone different, who isn't that experienced and if one rookie had that crew chief, the other might think Kyle prefers that rookie to him, so it's a good thing that both of them don't have that crew chief. Plus, they've been developing pitcrews and crew chiefs for years, but they didn't struggle with Erik Jones, William Byron or Christopher Bell, so it's obvious that Harrison Burton with Todd Gilliland don't have it (yet). 260. Wil posted: 06.08.2019 - 11:56 am Rate this comment: (0) (0) @259 No, it's not surprising. He's a borderline HOF Nascar driver in a Rudy Fugle truck against mostly kids. ThatGuy posted: 06.08.2019 - 12:10 pm Rate this comment: (0) (0) @246 Shouldn't a wreck filled race help Harrison just as much as Biffle? Yes he has a lot of experience, but he hasn't driven in Nascar since 2016. He hadn't driven a truck since 2004 I believe they said. These vehicles are all so different that experience goes out the window. Look how Gordon performed in 2016 filling in for Dale, less than a year after retiring 262. I actually agree with Mannoroth kinda i would like to see more vets in the truck series like the old days it was a much better series that way. 263. I'm not sure either, but I think he did, because Biffle scores points in that series and when that driver wins the race, his car earns his points, playoff points and a spot in the playoffs. 270. Only the 5 from Biffle so far. NASCAR changed the rules this year so teams can only earn playoff points from drivers who are eligible for series points. Same for the wins. None of the 5 from Busch locked the #51 in the Owners Chase. Since Biffle was racing for Truck points, his win should lock the #51 in. I believe its the same with Niece's #45. That truck is also not locked in the Owners Chase as its win came when Chastain was ineligible. 273. McLaughlin, 34 Mason Massey) and all three have sponsors. Also, the JJC is putting in a second truck and Lou Goss is in the 74 (Not Mike Harmon) I really hope that Reaume gets all three in because that team has already improved a lot since the beginning of them 277.
